The BRCA rule on LiPo cases only applies to BRCA sanctioned events, and is:-
Lithium based (LiPo/LiFe) battery packs
must have a hard, protective case that completely
envelopes the cell(s). The case should
be made from ABS or a similar material. The
two halves of the case must be factory sealed in
a way that any attempt to open the case will
destroy the case. The only opening in the case
that is allowed, is for the exit of wires.

In my opinion, all clubs should apply the same rule for all club meetings. It is well accepted that cells are THE most dangerous item of equipment.

the lads are using all types of shells- mazda 6, dodge stratus, alfa 159 to name a few, just make sure you get a shell with a wing that'll give plenty downforce, it does make a difference
ive just bought a moorespeed dodge stratus which comes with 3 wings.
what tc you going to be running?

furball85 22-04-2011 09:18 PM

Hi Furball - shell makes a massive difference on a slipy wooden floor, needs to run as low as poss and have a good large spoiler. Any with "scale" spoilers or running too high will handle like a bus!
While there are lots of shels to chose from, most saloon type are basically the same. Worst I've used were MG ZS (too high) and a merc CKK GTR (too long)

furball85 23-04-2011 01:50 PM

excellent, lol got it for £60 delivered with a 19T motor, the guy was selling it as he cant turn it into a slider due to it being belt drive lol, yea i can imagine with the clk lol they were abit low in there time, i like mazda speed 6 as it looks a good alround shell and the fact that mardave do one for the mardave must mean there worth summit lol

i know gary is running a tamiya but not sure what spec, get yourself over on the 9th may and have look.

just finished spraying my new shell and it looks crap!!!!
i think its a bad idea to have 6 bottles of becks then try and paint!:woot:

furball85 23-04-2011 04:24 PM

LMAO not a bad attempt i can imagine

lazysurfer 26-04-2011 07:59 AM

Don't worry about running old model TC's. There's not a massive ammount of difference in performance from old to new. Just turn up and race, thumbs make the most difference to the lap times!
I'm running a Losi XXXS which i've had for about 4-5 year maybe, and it wasn't new when I got it!

furball85 27-04-2011 04:05 PM

im using a cheap n chearful yeah racing sensorless motor/speedo combo from fleabay- think it cost about 55 quid new.
as Ray said Phills is the best locally or you can buy direct from schumacher.

furball85 28-04-2011 01:22 AM

cool, will go to phils and have a look/spend lol, bought 2 tcs one comes with everything to go drifting but spares seem to be like a bad drift lol (kyosho TF5) and a hpi sprint 1 which spares seem to be easier to get hold of on fleabay

lazysurfer 28-04-2011 07:50 AM

You're finally on then Old Man Ray!
Look forward to seeing you both racing then Furball - we're back on the 9th May - 7pm.
