4th attempt at FPV, goggles on this time!
Slowly getting to grips with it, not long now before low level fast flying.

That fpv vid was fantastic :)
Watch out for that tree though - and the people!

I really need to get into fpv as I want to film stuff that's not possible using line of sight.

What is it like with the goggles - is the image good - and what's the tripod thing you have set up?

Lastly :) - which Fatshark goggles / kit is the one to get - there are too many flavours to choose from!

Mike was the video sped up a bit?
Cool location. I'd be tempted to look in an upper window of the tower ;-)

northernmonkey 25-09-2013 06:45 AM

Goggles are attitude sd £180 from hobbyking.
Tripod is my ground station with rx and antenna tracker, also holds a 7" monitor for anybody to watch live fpv footage on.

Video was shot with gopro hero 3 at 1080p 30 fps, not sped up or stabilised, just edited a few bits out.
Compared to some of the other fpv vids on YouTube it's pretty amateur but will get there eventually.

Cheers Mike. I'd say the vid was far from Amateur - I enjoyed it, whereas most fpv vids are pretty boring - good location too. I'd be scared of hitting somone though skimming along the paths!

Would you buy the Attitude goggles again? Is the picture anything like the gopro footage? Can you make out small details - i'm super intrigued as to what it's like :)

northernmonkey 25-09-2013 09:52 AM

Fpv footage is half the res of gopro but I can fly fine with it.
When you first take to the skies it's quite daunting but you get used to it and start to enjoy your flying.

I purchased the attitude sd because fatshark have some new higher res goggles due out next march, these will have on board rx and recorder etc... So the ones I have now will tie me over until the others are available.

If you want to have a meet up somewhere:wub just give me a shout:thumbsup:
Happy to show my kit and talk you through it all.

Sounds like a plan - do you ever fly over leeds way?

Also - last question (honest) - can you hear the Quad when flying fpv through the goggles?

Col 25-09-2013 12:48 PM

You don't need to fly fast to make great FPV vids!

You can hook up a microphone and send via on board vtx to ground rx, so yes if you so desire!:) I don't bother though.

In Leeds most week on warrant runs (locksmithing) depends what time of day your talking about?

He was flying LOS, but I know what you mean, it's all about the scenery.

If you two are arranging a meetup in Leeds, please let me know, would love to join you both. Thanks.

Meet up would be good - I work from home Mon & Tues, so through the day would be great for me on either day - need some Naza tips:)

Nice one Jimbo. great edit to the tune.
I've not had the patience yet to edit an actual video and put it to music. Plus GoPro studio wants me to install quicktime, and I refuse.

neallewis 30-09-2013 02:10 AM

My latest flight videos with my new SunnySky V2216-11 900Kv motors. Nice and smooth, paired with balanced 10x5 graupners, and hand drilled 8mm-5mm reducers to make the props fit. video is relatively jello free.
Gains need tweeking on the naza for these motors and the TBS discovery. It's really sensitive to yaw control reduce yaw gain or add expo?
Better performance over the stock DJI motors, although didn't do any flat out flying this time.
It was super windy, and also my first flight with Naza v4.00 firmware. GPS lock didn't seem to good, but maybe that was the wind? anyone else tried v4.00 yet?

be wary with the distance limiting feature on v4. There are loads of reports of the naza refusing to accept right stick commands after reaching set distance.
Without using limits it still seems fine

jimbo_468 30-09-2013 07:58 AM

Hi,

GoPro Studio really nice to use and simple. Maybe worth the downloads?

Anyway, I'm after ugrading/buying a few things and need help! (because I haven't got a clue!)

Gimbals - because I only have a Naza Lite, I need a gimbal with its own board - is the Tarot good, and where to buy?

Radio - currently running a DX6i and want to change. Read that the Futaba's are good - any other recommendations?

FPV - would like to get into this, but not a clue. Any help???

Jim.

Any info much appreciated.

PS. and I thought RC cars were addictive....

I read somewhere that V4.0 had been pulled as it had too many errors and was a cause of concern!

I'm sure that was on MultiRotors forum or DJIGuys forum.

Jim.

Yeah, had seen them, and a few YouTube videos of quads stuck at the limit. If you fly forward to the limit, it gets stuck, But sideways was fine. Not tested it, and left the defaults at 2000m, which I have no intention of hitting.
I may downgrade until they get a fixed release out.
