Two new parts being made as prototypes this week ready for final testing, then body design will be tackled. We will know more after this and we expect the final price to be confirmed then also......

A guys on RCTech asked when we think the Cubed will be available. I posted:

"We are now pretty confident of the chassis material, and even have the layout pretty much down. Only issues now are precise servo placement and a question of motor height. Next up is doing the body and getting parts ordered.

If within the next 8 days we find some reason for major changes then things will get put on hold. But for now, it's Damn The Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead.

We are looking now at late April or early May."

At what point do you think the body off pictures of the car will be released chazz ?

Quite soon now.........

When I have the instruction manual written, we'll do another of those manual pix vids. I'll start on the manual in about two weeks, and it usually takes a week or so to photograph and write it.

Cool, looking forward to it!

As for the bodywork design... If you go cab forward, would you please consider to make the back of the cab so it does not look like a staircase (Finnisher) or a quarter pipe (most forward cabs)?

That said, I'm following this release with great interest :) Just a question about the X6 Sq then by the way... Can you give any info how much longer spares will be available? Is that 'as long as there's still stock,' 'as long as there's still demand for parts' or something else?

YoungChazz 26-03-2013 01:09 PM

LOL. We still have most parts in stock for the X - 5. We still have original X - 6 chassies, nose pieces, servo mounts, etc. Heck, we went back into the dust bin of history to re-use the #1002 nose piece (original 6) on the SCX - 60CF and the X - 60CF.

Also, the Cubed is not the X - 8. That will be an all new car, after the 7 is in production. The Cubed is just that -- a major revision to the Squared, which was a major revision to the original X - 6. Do The Math! Therefore, many parts are carried over, and almost everything from the Cubed will fit on a Squared, most even on an original 6. It wouldn't take much to turn an original 6 into a Cubed.

So you'll be able to keep running either the original 6 or the Squared for a long time. However, we made an UpGrade Kit when we went from the X - 5 to the Squared, and UpGrade Kits for the original 6 when we introduced the 4-Gear; in both cases most of the Family UpGraded with us. We will make an UpGrade Kit to turn your Squared into a Cubed, complete with new chassis, body, and wing, and we think most of the Family will again UpGrade with us.

Cubed Significantly Faster Than Squared

All our testing in U.K. so far indicates the Cubed is faster than the Squared. It is more nimble and jumps better. Paul ran his new Cubed and his trusty dialed-in Squared back-to-back at C.R.C.R.C. last Sunday. Six or eight packs through the Cubed and 3 in the Squared. Averaged 4/10 per lap faster without any significant changes in Cubed set-up. Paul says there is at least 4/10 more to be found in set-up. So that will be more than a half second faster in a 21-sec lap. Look out, world!

Haha I didn't know that :p All good news then for current X6 drivers!

discothesnake 27-03-2013 09:31 PM

Looking forward to seeing this. Always liked the X6 Squared.

As for the body, similar to Finnisher would be spot on. Defo the best looking forward shell around.

Is this going to be a brand new car or will there a conversion for the Squared?

Dave

YoungChazz 28-03-2013 11:52 PM

K 030 Conversion Kit will Convert a B4/4.1/4.2 into an X - 6 Cubed. K 031 UpGrade Kit will UpGrade an X - 6 Squared to Cubed. Do The Math!

Cubed Vs. Squared Video

Here's a vid with commentary from Paul of his first day testing the Squared vs the Cubed back-to-back at the C.R.C.R.C. track. He averages almost 4/10 sec per lap faster with the Cubed using the identical tires & wing.

We hope to have that answer very soon now, last few things (body and final details) are coming together now, once they are known the full price and release date will be unveiled (and body off shots too)....

No sadly not, none of the pre-cut parts will fit the newer cars layout, however in all of our testing on a multitude of tracks we have not required any of those weights to be used......
