I am due to give blood again, though I believe I have to wait 12 Months after having yellow fever injections before going to Brazil.... Does anyone know if that sounds right?

Did you use the free phone number on their website to find out?

Make that 84

Just been again and this time they had the new chairs out.

Tilts, so all you do is sit in it and the nurse tilts it to lay you up and down. Non of that sit up on your own stuff now etc

Looks good Glenn! I'm booked in for Monday.

It was national blood week last week I think - any new recruits on here?

A friend of mine has recently become a platelet donor, there is an urgent need for this as not everyone is able to donate platelets. They have a really short shelf life too so your donation will be saving lives within 5 days!

I've been told anyone can be tested for suitability at their next donation session; you just need to ask the nurse during the question and finger prick session and they draw off an extra vial for testing during the donation.

Worth a try :)

linky to info

Say the new chairs on TV a few days before but they were in London. Typical. Then low and behold they appeared just the other day when I was at my local session. They'd been on trial for 2 years. :o

Apparently delicate lady veins such as my own are not suitable for platelet donations, they like big chunky man veins - grrr!

Tried out the new chairs - comfortable for me but apparently the staff are struggling with them. It seems that whoever designed the chair has never given nor taken blood. My donor session set my PB time though so something helped.

Booked in to go Sunday at 4pm, so will be racing at stotfold and have to Rush over and give blood. Think it'll be my fourth time, wish I'd done it sooner.
