Either way mate a box is a box to me at the moment, I guess you'll have to wait and see what the prices come back like before committing to a design.

Re-seating the idlers in their bosses, is that the old superglue trick?, I haven't tried it myself as mine are oval so was doubtful it would work. What do you reckon?. Also what do you class as round the corner?, just previously fabs hoped for before the first round of the uk national, and we all know what round it is now.

Either way I'm glad I can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, can't wait to run it again.

Yes the superglue trick.. as i had my gearbox apart i thought i may as well do it... Idler shafts are a real tight fit and once put back together it was really free

Round the corner... as in ive seen a pic of the nearly finished gearboxes in production! They are looking very nice..

Are you at the Oz National this weekend?? fI so come over and say hello, whats your name by the way?

Dufty07 08-07-2011 01:36 PM

Praying

Round the corner from me is a road..... a long road......so I hope Fabs lives in a cul de sac, or a close...:D

Do you know if he has changed plastics or modded the formula at all, to cut out the over heatin issues?

le_sam 08-07-2011 02:28 PM

well!

we're few guys who like to see pics too!
unfortunetly it's seem to be not important that we saw this. or to know others details like "when", "how much" and "how many".

so, i've just called the 'factory' : the boss calculate prices on monday morning...
other news :
a french owner is making CAO (cao in french, in english i'm not sure. it mean "computing draw conception") plans.
so it's able that we'll paid only for the material & CNC machining. if it's working, it will deacrease the final price of course.

bye!

p.s :
vids about one of the equipement they're using in this 'factory' (3D "prototyping") :

&

My name is Andy Rochell, I was at southport last weekend with you guys trying to get a set up, finished 6th in the 4wd A final i think, (slept since then). Unfortunatley not doing the nationals this year hoping for next year though.

Good news le sam keep the updates coming

njc11 08-07-2011 07:58 PM

I was running both classes at Southport..You should have come over and said hello!!

The gearboxes wont be long, and the material is good! ;) so wait before u spend your money doing your own..as ive said they are being made by well renound manuacfacturer!

Dufty07 08-07-2011 08:13 PM

o

"material is good!". So he has changed the materal then:thumbsup:

le_sam 12-07-2011 06:01 PM

hi!

new episode of "lost in transmission" :D

by my side, no response yet. but i know the're busy (but/and they're not closed in August, good thing for us... but hoppin' that's done before!;) ).
i'll call back tomorrow in the morning.
i continue till no "real" alternative.
perhaps Fabs will do it faster and better (and cheaper). it will be great.
but can't wait anymore (without doing anything) for something 'buyable' if no "official" news, a date, a price, some pics, etc...

bye!

p.s : 10 boxes expected

Dufty07 12-07-2011 06:39 PM

Viva la sam:thumbsup:

le_sam 13-07-2011 05:45 PM

prices received :

1 pc = 585 € / pc
5 pcs = 145 € / pc
10 pcs = 92 € / pc
20 pcs = 64 € / pc
30 pcs = 54 € / pc
40 pcs = 50 € / pc
50 pcs = 46 € / pc

i've asked for details :

·1) Pour la partie « conception » fabrication du plan =coût 0 € nous utiliserons un de nos stagiaires actuellement chez nous. (free for plan conception)

·2) Pour la partie programmation et outillage (for the programing and tools) = 375 €

·3) Pour la partie mise en route ( a chaque nouvelle production ) starting product cost (for each new production) = 165 € (it mean that it's expensiver to test the first one and doing the other nine after:eh?:)

they keep all programs and assemblages to (eventualy) product it days or years later

that's not for free at least!!!
with a friend we're thinking about paying the programming & tools part.
it means 165/10+33+4 = 53,5€/pc without postage
what are you thinking about that?

so, it's the first contact, monday i'll call an other one which is specialized in rc...

bye!

le_sam - let me know if you need any help translating into English pal.

Better that your customers get a correct message.

53,50€ at the first 'factory'
but i'll try 2 others which are rc specialized (they can be cheaper)
soon back...

le_sam 19-07-2011 04:22 PM

SO!....

you can try to translate in english, then i do my own one :bored: (work 4 U AndyG;))

"j'ai contacté les deux entreprises :
l'une n'a pas la possibilité de le faire.
l'autre peut, j'attends sont devis.
demain soir je vais chez un ami qui dispose d'Autocad, voir même d'un logiciel permettant de créer directement le programme pour la machine numérique! ça serait de l'argent de gagné pour nous!
je continue à vous tenir au courant , où que cela nous mène! :D"

'i've contacted both firms :
one can't do this.
the other can, i'm waiting for the cost estimation.
tomorrow evening i go to a friend who has Autocad and a softwear allowed to create CNC programs! it could be interesting for the final cost!
I continue keeping posted you, wherever it leads us! :D

bye!

ASR 19-07-2011 09:47 PM

Thanks for the update le sam

AndyG 19-07-2011 10:15 PM

Nothing wrong with that translation le_sam !!

Chapeau !

le_sam 22-07-2011 02:25 PM

well, well, well...

"lundi j'appelle une dernière entreprise dont j'attends toujours le devis, la personne habilitée était absente pour cause familiale...
je déciderai alors de celle qui sera chargée du processus.
passez un bon week-end!"

on Monday i call the last firm of which i still waiting for the quote. the commissioner person was away for family reason...
I shall decide then on the one who will be charged of the process.
i wish you a good week-end!

"soon come";)
