someone post some results when back home...

GRIFF55 13-04-2008 06:58 PM

Good meeting today , loved the track but the dirt section did cut up a bit after the third round. Well done to all at ledbury, offroad as it used to be!!
Not sure on final results OJ

strobe 13-04-2008 07:05 PM

Well done Ledbury MCC. Hardly any delays.
Track i thought was great. Did cut up on the parts that had been added in the last couple of weeks. Rain stayed away till the end.

Funny part of the day was Wraggy's blown tyre flying into the air in rd 3.
Looking forward to racing there next year.
Will there be more features next year i wonder.

andy reeves 13-04-2008 07:10 PM

As has been said well done for all the effort put in. The track did seam fun to drive, yes it did cut up in places but this is off road racing  Glad the rain stayed away otherwise it would of been interesting getting out:lol: Hopfully a regional will be there again next season.

neiloliver 13-04-2008 07:11 PM

Great track but I could not keep the power down once it started to cut up. Setup needs some attention. Qualified F1, finished 1st. Well done to Craig for making the B. I would be interested to hear about B44 set-ups that people used in the final (tyres and suspension)

Gaz_Stanton 13-04-2008 07:16 PM

Great track, plenty of features and still flowing.
Just wish I could've got there in the morning to have more time on it.

Doomanic 13-04-2008 07:20 PM

Best grass track I have driven on for years. Well done to all at LMCC.
Good weather as well, and I didn't get the van stuck!

Agree with Dom - excellent, proper 3D track that flowed nicely (possibly apart from the double bunnyhop, but it wasn't a car breaker so not really a problem). Also full marks for arranging a burger van - is this going to be a feature of every regional again this year?

Minor minus points:

- signing was excellent right up until the last turn on the farm track - then nothing (but I suspect the signs were actually for the motocross lot?)

- trying to turn round with a RWD car when I arrived... actually no, scratch that, that was funny :p

- what mud there was, was fine, but I do wonder what would have happened to the bomb hole if it had rained properly - swamp racing? Is there any drainage laid under there?

- it did cut up fairly in the last couple of rounds, but then that was my problem for trying to drive it like it hadn't. Do people still lay plastic mesh under grass tracks though?

All in all, a very good day - I'm looking forward to returning next year. Hmm, we could have a season with this and Telford MCC...

And Ian Ford, his first electric regional in years! Kiddy once in the winter too.
I'll be back next time for that track too!

Great days racing, with some great features, which inturn allowed for some close racing in the finals.

Hope to go back there again next year, Well done to the few people that put all of the effort in to make this regional possible.

glad i could amuse people :woot:,
had a bad day myself only completing the 1st 2 rounds and lacking steering all day, which has now been sorted by Mr Preddy(cheers for that Brian) at least i know it wasnt down to the car or setup...

Belsten 13-04-2008 08:27 PM

Great track well done to all at ledbury. Didnt do as well as I would have liked but a new car at the next one should see me move up the order all being well

grindog 13-04-2008 08:30 PM

great day!

also would like to joyride the farmers Ferrari!

gordy 13-04-2008 08:32 PM

Thanks for the comments guys - hope you all enjoyed it. The bomb hole is actually really well drained and drys out very quickly. Areas of the track did rut up quite badly unfortunately (because I've now got to repair it!) I'm not sure what we can do in the future to stop it rutting so badly. We never wanted a perfectly smooth track, because it just feels like racing touring car with buggies. It did surprise me how many people seemed not to have run on a grass track, I noticed alot of over damped cars not coping with the bumps.
At the end of the day this is the first proper meeting that the track's had, so we now know where the problem areas are and can get them sorted.
Thanks again, it was great to watch you all racing.
Gordy

matdodd 13-04-2008 08:39 PM

I just want to say well done to Stan great result today mate & good effort to all involved with the track it was a challenge!

DaveG28 13-04-2008 11:59 PM

Not all of us were overdamped out of choice :(

Seriously though, great track, nice to have some up and down and the dusty sections as well as grass, plus really well run, thanks all involved in running it!!

And Grindog, I was pretty tempted to check for kesy in the ignition of that Ferrari too on the way out!!

losixxx 14-04-2008 07:28 AM

really enjoyed the track, excellent features made a welcome change from our normal grass outing's....
even though i had my poorist 4wd for nearly 2 years with the new chassis, had a good day once the early problems were sorted....

thanks ledbury..

There seemed to be "the farmer", under his ferrari fiddling, so you wouldn't have got far!! vvvvvvv nice

Yardeeee 14-04-2008 02:25 PM

I would also like to pass on my congrats to Stan, really good performance in the last 2 legs- to go perfectly clean for 5 minutes around that track was really tough and he did it twice in the finals... and daddied me in the process during leg 2 lol that was a good move.

I apologise to everyone who may have heard my outburst after leg 3... I know I must have looked like a real childish sore loser but I was just generally frustrated at losing out by such a small amount, and only ending up 3rd in the meeting after TQing, when a leg win in that last leg would have made such a difference. Losing out was fault entirely of my own and I shouldn't have taken it out on the rostrum like I did lol . (I'm sure the battle preceeding was good to watch)

Well done to the guys at Ledbury,
Tom Y.

it was strange seeing you like that Tom , but on the other hand it also shows the passion and determination you have for winning ... its not a bad thing :)
im sure it will be your win next time around

tony12795 14-04-2008 02:51 PM

Bring on the fight !!!!!

A good day all round. Well done Stanlop.

tonymon 14-04-2008 03:19 PM

poo! i wish i went now! track looked amazing!

gordy 14-04-2008 04:25 PM

Pics of the regional now up

Mossy 14-04-2008 06:00 PM

Ill agree with congrats to Stan. Proved he was quick all day and in the first leg was right with me till he hit an unfortunate bump.

Think in terms of spectators that was prob one of the best regionals to watch. 3 cars close at the front is always good to watch. Good job by Ledbury, nothin to moan about and an excellent burger van!

Si

_JP_ 14-04-2008 07:11 PM

looks like I was right then when I said the track looked good
almost wish I had got out of bed :p

Slimboyfat 16-04-2008 04:20 PM

was Stan running the XXX4?

If so....forget The Green Giant from the tinned sweetcorn advert, I have a new hero!

GRIFF55 16-04-2008 04:45 PM

yup, xxx4

markwilliamson2001 16-04-2008 07:18 PM

gutted i missed out on this one guys. It is the nearest track to me, and the weather was okay, with just a few showers. Not sure what you could do to get rid of the rutting problems, but filling them in and reseeding the bigger 'holes' or places with no grass should solve most of the problems. Also covering the dirt sections with astro after refilling the 'holes' would cause less problems with them cutting up. The track looked ace, good to have some bumps and undulations/height changes rather than relying on 'obstacles' in the form of man-made wooden jumps for features.

Nooooooooooooo! Dirt is good!

Keep those bombholes as dirt sections but lay the track so there is an alternative route around them that can be run for a round if they do become lakes.

GRIFF55 17-04-2008 07:56 AM

I agree with Gaz, the dirt sections were great!! I've seen somewhere that if you mix a little cement dust with the top layer of dirt it makes it alot more hardwearing/not so many ruts or holes:confused:, might be worth a try

_sleigh_ 17-04-2008 12:45 PM

:thumbsup: Concrete and dirt is a good mix.. It's what you'll be running on at Kiddy at the weekend...

Might need a little experimenting to get the mix right.
