mattb 05-08-2011 09:03 PM

Howler 05-08-2011 09:05 PM

Cool, i should be able to make small adjustments by warming it with the heatgun attachment on my soldering iron if it needs it.

Cr3Ad 05-08-2011 09:10 PM

looking forward to seeing it,MK1 in progress

Cr3Ad 05-08-2011 09:47 PM

from the mold its gonna be the shape of the chassis with straight sides up to clear internals but once i know the shape fits well and minimal water ill chop it down in areas where there are no obstructions

Ian_lawton 05-08-2011 09:54 PM

well the car came today and its all built up just need to either order the motor and esc i posted before or pick one up from model sport tomorrow??? hmmm

Howler 05-08-2011 09:57 PM

Go buy one, then you can race on Sunday :)

Er... and sorry for hijacking your thread.

Ian_lawton 05-08-2011 11:03 PM

dunno what they have at modelsport thats cheap and good though

Si Coe 06-08-2011 01:01 AM

From Modelsport?

Well this is very cheap and surprisingly capable in a 2wd car. You'll want to upgrade eventually but it should do you well for some time.

However, sensored systems are better so this which is a little more is worth considering.

Upwards of that you are really into separate esc and motors - in which case this is a good cheap esc, and a cheap sensored motor to match in 7.5t, 9.5t or 10.5t. The motors aren't the best, but they work fine - the esc is as good as you'll ever need for a 2wd.

Ian_lawton 06-08-2011 11:03 AM

Well ive just found out that im getting alot of money back from the tax man :D so thats made me happy,

Oh well in that case the best Modelsport offers (in VFM stakes) would be this esc and either this motor or this one.

Thats only a little more than the one I linked before, but its top of the line gear.

you have pm mate

Si Coe 06-08-2011 06:35 PM

What did you get?

Normal sized stick packs ought to fit - it might just take some wiggling if its the sort where the wires come out the end, and the motor really ought to fit!

Ian_lawton 06-08-2011 06:38 PM

the motor does fit but then the wires dont/ they get in the way of the top deck so it dosnt close

i guess it was my fault on the batterys found out there for the e-revo but they knew what i was buying them for? only found out they dont fit after i have solderd deans connectors onto them

what car have you got mate?

Si Coe 06-08-2011 06:48 PM

Its a Cougar.

Can't you turn the motor so the wires are in a different direction?

Ian_lawton 06-08-2011 06:52 PM

i can but then the holes in the motor and the mount dont line up :( might have fixed the motor for now :)

johnnygibbon 06-08-2011 06:58 PM

bring ya car tomoro im sure it will get on track . by the way has any one got a spare spectrum reciever i can borrow to run in my truck. cant afford a new one this week but the truck is running
fancy two classes of 4wd mayhem
cheers

Si Coe 06-08-2011 07:06 PM

I've got so many lipos now I don't know what to do with them, so if all you need is a battery I can lend you one (or possibly two!)
Mine all have tube connectors, but I'm sure someone will have a Deans to tube adapter they can lend you.
Just ask for Si, someone will point me out.

Ian_lawton 06-08-2011 07:50 PM

got everything sorted now apart from the damn battery! :@ also the esc wont go into set-up mode when i hold the button down :S

Si Coe 06-08-2011 08:09 PM

I've just made an deans to tubes adapter so you won't even need to source one of them.
I'm not sure which esc you got so can't say what you need to do on the setup, but bring it along and someone will know......

Ian_lawton 06-08-2011 08:18 PM

Thanks Si but i cant get there tomorrow :( have plans with the GF

its the Speed Passion

Ian_lawton 08-08-2011 02:41 PM

Turns out that the ESC was broken anyway so they swapped that although its not the purple one, nvm and they also swapped the batterys for me :D it works!! its pritty rapid, wheelies inside on the carpet but pulls to the left when accelerating. now comes the tedious setting up lol

just back your slipper of mate to stop it wheelying, and just copy one of the team drivers setup sheets and go from there:thumbsup:

Ian_lawton 08-08-2011 03:32 PM

It doesnt wheelie outside just inside on the carpet :) i dont have any of the tools to set it up with really so ill just be tinkering for now

Howler 08-08-2011 03:36 PM

If it wheelies on carpet it'll probably wheelie on astro too, but that's something you can sort when you bring it to the track. If we do have a practice session on sunday that would be ideal for you.
