That is almost an exact copy of how mine is installed. I am also running a low profile servo, Sanwa RX but a LRP SXX on the motor plate.

I quite like the straps but would be very tempted by anything Oldtimer come up with!

Looks nice, I think the LRP might be more efficient than my old GTB. How did in handle indoors with the kit springs?

If you look back a couple of pages, the photos of my car show a quick solution using a bit of old cf and just one velcro strap ;)

Ran the 22 with kit setup, all I changes was to put the 54 pistons in the rear to soften the damping. Car was great. Very predictable, lots of steering but very controllable. The rear end did slide a little, but was easy to catch. I've bought the rear weight kit now so expect it will be even better :)

t8rtot 22-03-2011 05:47 PM

weight?? I'm not sure how you have your car set up, so dont take this heavy, but you guys may want to move your ESC back to the back for you add more weight then necessary. i knew you guys were gonna do this, it makes no sense. just like some of the x-factory guys do with the short lipos. a lighter car is a faster car.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve here, in both the X-7 topic and this one you are being very arrogant and think you're the only one with a correct opinion. You were the brilliant marketeer, weren't you?

There is a very interesting topic somewhere on oOple about car weight, in which every aspect of it was discussed by engineers and very experienced drivers. People with probably more knowledge than you. Use the search button and check your facts, Einstein.

I don't want to talk for every American, but the last time Americans thought they were superior the USA and a big part of Europe had a major economical meltdown.

I used to like my ZX-5 Sp better with a bit more weight, and the SC10, too.
I don't see why the 22 should be any different. ;)

Easy to swop to running saddles or the new small lipo as I don't have a load of electronics shoe-horned into the front. Could also run a normal stick lipo (there's room with a low profile servo) if I popped the receiver on top of the lipo.

Just need Jonathan to bring out a nice carbon battery bar instead of the straps :)

what are you guys using to stick the esc to the motor gaurd

andys 22-03-2011 09:40 PM

For mounting the speedo I just use regular double sided servo tape.
Got my last roll on e-bay :) Once it's stuck, it isn't coming off without a fight...

chris_dono 22-03-2011 09:58 PM

Here's mine, only things left are a PT, have a lower power cap that's a bit beefier, then decide what to do with the servo wire to the receiver...

Aran 22-03-2011 10:41 PM

finally done all my electrics and found the body shells pre marked dimples a bit out of line meaning the bodyshell is a little off so worth checking, same with the one at the front too but thats the only downside I have had.

Pretty impressed just need to get some tyres :D

Chris56 22-03-2011 10:44 PM

Excellent dude - you racing it this friday?

Aran 22-03-2011 10:49 PM

yeah dude, might have to pop to see mr dodd for some rear tyres though.

just the wiring it a little messy, not much space when you have a full size servo and a sp GT2 lol.

Its tight, but did manage to get a gt2 and receiver up front with a low profile savox - don't really need servo tape to hold it in!

the plate for the speedo on the battery is what i was looking at,the only thing that worried me was the amount of heat that will get through from the speedo to that battery,

Is the hole in the finger meant for a screw or for air flow?! :p

Hi everyone. Just finished my 22 tonight and have just tested it outside. All i can say is wow!. I'm just getting back into racing and have decided to give off road a try. I have my first practice night next Tuesday at Teesside. The electronics install is probably not to everyone's taste, it's running Mamba Max with 7700kV motor, BMS 631MG steering servo, Futaba R153f receiver and Intellect 5000mah saddles. The Mamba was a nice snug fit and i will add some holes to the front after it's painted. Any advice for a noob is more than welcome.

Cheers

Lee

mrspeedy 23-03-2011 10:53 PM

Looks like your rear shocks are mounted on the the wrong side of the tower ....

ducatikid 23-03-2011 11:00 PM

DOH! That's what kids and nagging girlfriends do to you when you want piece and quiet! All sorted now! Cheers. :bored:

Here is my instal... took a bit of time to shorten the receiver wires and figure out how to place everything on the chassis; only thing left to get in the car is the PT and that will sit on top of the servo like many others have chosen to do so.

stegger 24-03-2011 07:50 AM

DELVES, good work fella. Best install i've seen yet ;)

Looks neater with the motor wires etc going down the left and under the rear brace to the motor. Is that an LRP or SP speedo ? Looks more LRP. Will start my build tonight :drool:

Take care when building the diff, The nut seems to be made of butter!
mine stripped out before it was even tight.

Yeah, think it does look better with the wires down that side of the car, and yes it is a LRP SXX TC V2 esc. Added bonus was that the stock sensor wire fitted perfectly in the car so no need to go and get a different length lead

Enjoy the build... I did.

chris_dono 24-03-2011 08:56 AM

looks great Chris, might change my motor wires now ;)

That's just showing off! Very tidy install and still some chassis visible! Wish I'd got those Losi Lipos now instead of saddles  Looks like that motor wiring layout is 'the future'

OCD does have its advantages, obviously.:woot:
Tidy work fella.

Delves 24-03-2011 09:59 AM

Thanks  OCD rules

MattADH 24-03-2011 09:59 AM

I was waiting for the "Delves install" to see what CJ came up with...

One thing I do know is that the stock wires on an LRP are not long enough to allow some of the potential wiring layouts though.

What is that at the back? Is that a brass weight kit? I haven't looked into this yet but I know Losi are doing one for it.

ahh, white wheels, thats better. Could do with some tires though...

nice to see the tidy TC install skills/OCD still in evidence :p
