cheapskate 30-04-2011 06:50 PM

has anyone got the current championship standings?
also has anybody got any idea's about what we do about the rear wall problem?
someone mentioned getting in touch with whoever ran nissan to get a length of rope to run down the wall.

Ray Mac 30-04-2011 08:10 PM

Cheapskate! didn't you check the results board at the last meeting?
It was under the heat results, don't ask me what the positions were 'cos I've got "alzimers". See ya a week on Monday:p

All the rope at Nissan went JORCR/Seaham, TRCC & Netherton Park

Ray Mac 01-05-2011 06:13 PM

Thanks for letting us know what happened to it Bill. Hey! are you going to come back for some T.C. racing? I've missed our coming togethers all those years ago. How about it?

cheapskate 02-05-2011 03:06 PM

Does anybody know what turn motors the lads running the buggies are using?
Also what tyres/inserts?

Cheers,
Mal

TangerineDream 03-05-2011 10:48 AM

Hi Mal
The buggies are running down to 5.5 motors and a mix of yellow cat full spikes or mini spikes, usually with the schumacher medium inserts, personally I think the cat spikes along with a cooler motor (7.5) will last about 6 weeks
I'm printing the results at the start of each meeting as not enough time at the end before everything goes into the cupboard.
As far as the track goes I'm sure we have enough to cover the majority if not all of the wall, which should prevent any more 'vaulkhard moments'!!!

Can everyone take responsibilty for ensuring they are happy with the track, rather than the usual few people left to finish it off each week

Cheers
Paul

his car had a slight altercation with a loose screw sticking out of the skirting boards on the back straight,
he wasnt the only one though- ray(twice), ian and mark have all snapped wishbones in recent weeks.

cheers for the reply's on my questions Paul- is the 5.5/ 7.5 turn motor ratings for brushless?

Mal

TangerineDream 04-05-2011 05:04 PM

Yeh brushless all the way, too much maintenance using brushed in a buggy!
You should come along to the regional at stannington if you get sorted, likely to be 30+ racing.

Anyone got any medium schumacher inserts to sell me, don't really want to have to melt part worn tyres off my rims for the weekend

Cheers

Phil's models have them still I believe

hazzelarator 05-05-2011 01:37 AM

Hey everyone, sorry for not replying sooner. If required im sure Bill & I can lend some rope for the wall, but I think there is probs enough handrail to do the job anyway? Dont be put off by the wall incident I had, (it really was freak and with a very old car) I've been hitting it every week for 6 weeks and eventually somethings gotta give! : ) It rewards 'getting it right' and punishes getting it wrong which i'm sure we all agree is part and parcel of scale motorsport?! Anyway to all new and old members, from my part I think the new club has taken the necessary steps into the future which were well over due so everyone should support the new venture as it's a great location great hall and great group of people so get yourselves along for the next race meeting!
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Steven Forster 05-05-2011 11:43 AM

Think i might pop along with my B4 buggy on monday if i dont break it at seaham on the sunday :woot: will be my 2nd time racing :), might even bring my Tamiya TL-01 for some touring car action, been a few years since the last time i used it as i got bored of bashing so now will be a good time to use it for what is was for...............

lazysurfer 05-05-2011 05:50 PM

Back Racing

Dont forget were back racing on Monday 9th........and yes there'll be track along the wall!
Pleas come along if you're a new racer. There should be a good turnout after missing 2 weeks

lazysurfer 10-05-2011 07:47 AM

A bit of a strange meeting last night, after 2 weeks with no racing I was expecting a good turn out but we were a little light on regular racers for some reason, (although I know some of you are having babies around now!)
That didn’t stop us making a total of 17 racers though with no less than SEVEN first timers at the venue. Nice to see Ross making his first meeting at TyneMet and providing some tough competition for Paul Hindson in the buggy class, which had 2 new racers with just a couple of Seaham meetings under their belt as well as Peter Ellis joining us.
Also 3 new lads in the TC’s, particularly good to see that 2 of them were junior racers, something that’s a bit of a rarity these days (I blame PS3’s, XBOX’s etc)!
Anyway I’m sure Paul will post the results if he hasn’t already from what was a VERY close nights racing for the top spots.
A better turn out of regulars wouldn’t go amiss next week and don’t forget the regional buggy meeting this Sunday at Harry’s place if you fancy going along.
Hopefully see more of you next week!

Ray Mac 10-05-2011 01:09 PM

Mark! can you tell me where Harry's place is please?, all I've heard is it's somewhere around Stanington, is that right? Could anyone be more spacific with directions, please?.

It was good to get back racing last night (getting in people's way, sorry about that:() It wasn't till the 2nd final I eventually got the car to go where I wanted, I might get my act together for next week:eh?:.
See you next week.

Thanks Mal! I take it that it's an outdoor T.C. track on a carpark? Correct me if I'm wrong. Have you been indulging in racing there?

Read all about it here --> http://www.oople.com/forums/showpost...8&postcount=74

It's actually an indoor outdoor NE 1/10 Regional meeting - in a horse arena. Get there with a 1/10 scale electric off-roader of any kind and you'll LOVE the surface ! ! !

Ray Mac 12-05-2011 12:54 PM

H.V's TRACK.

Thanks Mal and Bill for the information and more that I asked.
I'm not sure I will be able to make it this Sunday, but I will be up to check it out. I'll see Harry on Monday and quiz him on the gen for his track.:)

lazysurfer 16-05-2011 10:19 PM

A lot of regulars missing again this week but still 15 racing. Get yourselves along the rest of you!
Also would be useful if a few more could be there for 7 or just before. We can get in the hall to set up the pits while the ladies keep fit class is still going on - they are quite happy for us to do this as long as we're out of their way - Jonny certainly seemed to be enjoyung the visual entertainment!
Very close in the TC's again through all 3 quali's and the first leg of the final between me and Harry. Not sure which of us was more dissapointed that he failed to get off the line in the final with a sticky brush!
Paul willno doubt post ther full results.
Hope to see more of you there next week - 6:50 sharp you can either set up your pit table - or watch the ladies keep fit with Jonny, up to you!
And don't forget, next week in the last week of the race series!
Cheers

Hello tyne met buggy boys. Is there anyone who could lend a set of reasonable set of wheels and tyres for an interested potential racer. Harry who has just finished some work in my house has bought a second hand b44 (no electrics). Harry doesnt have the time to get the rest of his stuff and was going to give me the buggy to try to sell at the club. However i have told him i have some spare gear to put in his car and he is interested in at least giving it a go for a night. The other question is that what pinion should i put on the b44 with a 7.5 x12 assuming the spur is the standard kit one oh and harry has raced before so hopefully it wont be too fast. Help for a potential new racer welcome. would be this monday.
cheers.

lazysurfer 23-05-2011 09:47 PM

hey paul, sorry no one got back on this, i'm sure someone will be happy to lend some wheels but oople's been down for a couple of days. No racing next week but bring him along the week after

lazysurfer 23-05-2011 09:53 PM

well guys we broke the 20 racer mark tonight with a fantastic 22 comprising 9 buggies & 13tcs for the last night of the 6 week series. Paul will post the results as usual. Nice to see the new racers keen and turning up week after week, also Anthony racing for his first meeting and 3 new members joining!
Great to seeRoss back again and Phil Haines turn up to race and prove he hasn't lost it by stealing pole and winning the first leg of the A final, hope to see you back again but a bit slower next time please Phil.
No racing next week due to the bank hol but hope to have another good turn out when we're back the following week.

Cheers

great to see lots of people racing last night and plenty new members too- long may it continue:)

nobby 24-05-2011 11:43 AM

really enjoyed the racing last night.
buggy racing was really good fun with lots of different abilities made it a challenge to get round clean.

didn't get to see the t/c racing, but it was good to see phil haines racing.
theres still life in the old dog yet:D

cheapskate 26-05-2011 10:25 AM

set up for tc @tynemet

as some of you's might of noticed my car is all over the place when im driving, i had put this down to my driving:blush: but a couple of the lads had a quick look at my car on monday and noticed that my camber/toe settings were way out,
what is everybody running setup wise?
also will it be worth stripping my diffs and giving them a clean or just tightening them up a little- they were pre built when i bought the Mi1 and havnt done anything with them since fitting them.

cheers,
Mal

Ray Mac 26-05-2011 09:08 PM

Set ups ?

Hi Mal, my setup is no toein (parallel) camber 1 degree negative front & rear.
Which is "NO RECOMENATION" coming from me, and the wayI drive.LOL:blush:

atleast you get into the a finals mate so your driving aint that bad:)
cheers for the advice on the setup Ray- both my front and rear wheels were toed out:confused::confused:
and this was stock setting from the build-n i even measured the dimensions with a digital caliper.

just found out that its my saturday in at work on the 11th so wont be able to make it:thumbdown:

lazysurfer 27-05-2011 07:50 AM

Toe out Mal!!!!
No wonder you were unhappy with it parallel to 1deg to in both back and front - toe in front gives more turn in but makes more twitchy on the straight, 0-1 deg neg camber as well, more gives more grip in corners but makes it unpredictable. toe in on the back gives less oversteer/more understeer in corners. Unless your diffs feel rough I'd start with camber & toe in settings before rebuilding.

Cheers Mark,
Bought some set up gauges and set front a rear 1 deg toe in and camber -1 deg front and rear- just have to see how it goes next meeting.
One thing i have found is that the pin that holds wheel hex onto the shaft on the left rear has snapped into 3 pieces:eh?:- maybe this also explains why i was spinning out too

Ray Mac 31-05-2011 02:30 PM

Hi Mal! have you got plenty of drive pins for the wheel hexes?. I've got a few if you're short of them. Let me know if you want them before next Monday.:eh?:

do you still want me to bring wheels/tyres along tonight?
the rims are a 12mm hex- will they fit the B44?

lazysurfer 07-06-2011 07:56 AM

Well guys a bit of a poor tun out this week compared to the previous meeting althoughy 16 drivers is still more than we could have hoped for at Longbenton. Still a few regulars missing or even dissapeared!! (Jason?)
Anyway, this Saturday 11th is the colleg's community open day so we've been invited to put on a race demo in part of the hall. Doors open to the public at 11 so we're in there at 10:30 to set up with racing from 11 - 12:30 so please come along if you can - anyone welcome - club member or not!
It's a good opportunity to show the public we're there and what we do as well as providing a bit of racing or a set up session for drivers at no cost.
Hope to see a good turn out for thea as well as a few more of you getting along next Monday
