Just got back from the centre. The other guys were still there when I left.
The track looks AWESOME, and it drivs well too. The big jump is freindlier to the cars. an interesting section as you come back towards the rostrum...I'll let you see it tomorow.

But its more flowing. and better to drive.

You will all enjoy yourself tomorrow I will guarauntee you that.;)

Richard Lowe 27-10-2007 08:37 PM

mark christopher 28-10-2007 06:23 PM

to be honest it was awsome, im no off road expert but was 100% good track and meeting running

well done all

super__dan 28-10-2007 06:58 PM

It was an excellent track and excellent meeting, I really look forward to Worksop now more than any other indoor venue.

My (and some others) only bug bear on the day was that some of the marshalling was dreadfull. In round 3 after waiting for 5 secs for a marshall I actually had to get off the rostrum to marshall my own car and there was a guy who seemed scared to go on track to marshall. In our own little huddle we put this down to ex touring car racers, is this fair? ;)

Stu 28-10-2007 07:27 PM

Yeah, you are right Dan - I have to add though that it's no reflection on the club, just the marshals themselves, who are after all 'us'.

Today was my first visit back to Worksop since the 'old-days', I had forgotton just how good that surface is.

Very good track layout also, easy to get round but difficult to get round fast.

PaulRotheram 28-10-2007 07:41 PM

Great day today, track was ace - do-able, but i seemed to be one of the few who found the big jump in front of the rostrum hard. I couldnt seem to judge it right.. blah.
Track was really good though, flowing and lots of opportunity to make time up.

Thanks to the organisers to bumping me up a few heats also, made the day alot better for sure!
I agree with the marsheling, quite poor really, but there's not alot that can be done.

Ace drive home too, couldnt stop laughing for most of it! Did stan beat the boy racer?

Richard Lowe 28-10-2007 07:52 PM

The track was ace today, really good fun to drive. The jumps were really flowing, when you nailed every downslope it was so satisfying :)

Has anyone ever heard of a Novak rotor's sintered magnet falling apart? I think that's what happened to my motor in the final, I havn't taken it apart yet. Bit of a shame after a clean sweep in qually :(

What the heck is it with my cars and brushless!?

2x LRP, 3x Novak dead within 6 months :o :o :o

super__dan 28-10-2007 07:52 PM

Just in case it came across that way, I too don't blame the club. The organisers seem to work VERY hard indeed on a club day to kepp us all happy. I for one am VERY pleased the indoor finals are going to be there this year!.

I do think numbered marshal points are the future though as when I had to marshal myself it was becasue the was no marshal to the right of the rostrum, and it's difficult to spot anyone that's not marshalled if people can marshal anywhere each round.

mark christopher 28-10-2007 08:06 PM

good news too is they are holding the indoor finals!

Tim Ward 28-10-2007 08:11 PM

Really glad everyone enjoyed the day. The feedback is much appreciated. Certainly Muzzy worked very hard and deserves the pat on the back you guys have just given him.

Thanks everyone for coming and making it such an awesome day!

Chrislong 28-10-2007 08:18 PM

There is soooo much work involved in running an event, Muzzy really deserves a lot of appreciation, and the rest of the committee too.

I loved the track, was soooooo flowing, and the jumps all had a 'way' to do them, and once in a rythem the laptimes plummeted - very rewarding to get right. Nothing too dificult, but nothing too easy either. The triple worked well I think.

Right then, any critism id like to hear, honestly. I'll be assisting with the track and layout again, and will take onboard any ideas... :)

could be your belly flops from the jumps :D

DaveG28 28-10-2007 08:33 PM

Loved the track guys, especially having the fast long long corner at the end of the main straight! Had a great day, and thanks to everyone involved!

With the marshalling, I found it ok to be honest although I think sometimes the marshalls weren't sure when to "get involved" after the big jump as so many cars (including mine!) bounced around off the track but
then were able to rejoin without being marshalled. Plus the guy from my heat who marshalled the end of the straight was awesome, never saw such quick marshalling!

Marshalling is very up and down at meetings, but we all also need to be patient, I had a guy crash in front of me, and although I was out of the seat straight away, because I let 2 cars that were coming through go past before crossing the track the guy was shouting on the rostrum! Maybe its just me but I thought we weren't meant to run across the track if cars were crossingat that moment!?

Wow, I have gone on! One possible suggestion to improve marshalling, make one of the prizes for best marshall during the day!!??

Dave

Hmmm, good idea! Nominated by the racers?

mark christopher 28-10-2007 08:46 PM

could ask muzzy to let the prize be the 12 month subs to rrci, if its what all want to do

jimmy 28-10-2007 08:48 PM

my back and my knee were giving me a lot of pain when I was marshalling - so there should be a 'special' award for us oldies who aren't as mobile anymore :(

I wasn't enjoying the racing until rd4 when I finally got the car going well- I managed to go from 8th to 2nd in my final but wasn't quite able to take the win as I just kept making the same silly mistake and turning-in too early
good track but I did prefer it on mini spikes! ;)

PaulRotheram 28-10-2007 09:14 PM

That reminds me..

How come the tyres are 'specd' to front AND rear? In BRCA nationals we only limit the rear axle don't we? I'd of thought it'd of been the same for this meeting too, as some people prefer different choices, like jimmy found minispikes on the front to work better for him.

It was a shame Rich I didnt realise you broke it till after I finished, It was lookin like it could of been fun till we both crashed! you were goin for big air though when you were chasein maybe a bearing or somthing failed!

Like I said to Danny today I thought the lads did a great job wth the track & the jumps were well thought out!
The only down side was the marshalling, in round 1 my heat only had 4 marshalls  Thanks to the 2wd top heat for covering after that though ;)

bigred5765 28-10-2007 10:05 PM

great day, great track, loved the whole day,
great big thumbs up to all involved

Yeah I tried to one-way it back onto the wheels mid-roll but then 'click' - no drive. The magnet has turned to dust inside the can, I thought these sintered rotors were indestructible?! Everything else is fine, it's just the rotor that went pop :(

Congrats on the win btw :)
