DCM 13-10-2007 12:41 PM

it is a ta05 drivetrain with a slipper clutch and an off-road chassis

bigred5765 13-10-2007 03:38 PM

if you look very closley you can see that there are no slipper pads, the plates fit dircetly in to were the slipper pads would be,just to give drive, and the would be slipper plates are hex shaped, and made of plastic, and im guessing here that the hop up slipper will be, metal plates rounded and have the pads from b4 im guessing

sosidge 15-10-2007 10:09 AM

Looks good! Materials are TA05 style rather than TT-01 style, so should be a good club racer.

If I win the lottery I might try one at the local club.

jimmy 15-10-2007 10:40 AM

Carl is right, there's no slipper clutch - but they use the 501X spur so you don't have to get a new spur when you upgrade to a slipper (like the DF03 had to)
I guess that means it's 48dp then, can't be bad.

Yes it's 48-pitch as the hop-ups show the TRF-501X pinions as options.

BTW: You didn't "need" new spurs with the DF03 slipper upgrade, it just happened to include an additional one. Once you have the slipper upgrade, you could choose from any of the 3 spurs when you installed it. 78T & 85T come with car, and 82T comes with slipper.

Here's a pic I found of the slipper with kit spur isntalled:

jimmy 16-10-2007 05:03 PM

afaik the kit spurs are incompatible with the slipper on the DF03? perhaps I'm wrong since this is from memory. I switched straight over to a B4 spur however since it was the easy route to 48dp.

sim 17-10-2007 05:11 PM

94eg is right. On the DF-03, the kit spurs work with the slipper set. The one that comes with the slipper is black in colour and the stock spurs are that slightly transluscent white-ish colour but they all have the same shape slipper-pad areas, so they all work.

jimmy 17-10-2007 06:21 PM

they do indeed - never knew that. I got the slipper so I could go 48dp so I never really looked at the included one, I just imagined it was different

sim 19-10-2007 03:56 AM

Hey Jimmy, when you going to finish up your ultimate DF-03 review? We're all waiting eagerly.

budgio 19-10-2007 04:41 PM

A couple of small clips of the Durga

I think i,ll be getting one of these.

jimmy 19-10-2007 04:55 PM

Looks mint - it's like a 501X that you don't mind scratching! :p

DCM 19-10-2007 05:07 PM

I got mine on pre-order....

wookiee_racer 21-10-2007 05:26 AM

hmmm...people have been figuring on $130usd for this car but the cheapest i found was $195...wonder why that is? them having to ship it overseas?

mtn bkr 26-10-2007 09:01 PM

I'm very intrigued by this car as well. Look forward to hearing feedback once people have had a chance to give it some thorough track time.

budgio 29-10-2007 08:36 PM

RogerM 17-11-2007 06:36 PM

Out of interest what price did these go for and where from?

budgio 17-11-2007 06:41 PM

Thats two Durga,s head to head at Coventry soon ;)

Not decided on what colour yet....maybe yellow/black.

EBAY £83.99 search "DURGA"

drinternat 20-11-2007 11:19 AM

Durga

Im being told that a lot of the 501 parts are the same so that is easy for hop ups but I think a lot of parts are metal anyway rather than the plastic kind on the likes of Keen Hawk. No doubt the experts among you will shoot me down in flames. By the way I cant make head nor tail of the RC Champ web site. When is Jimmy doing a review in the Durga?

nyheli 22-11-2007 01:33 AM

bought a DF-03 2 weeks ago,ouch!!!!:(

drinternat 24-11-2007 05:55 PM

Durga

Just bought a Durga. I'm now desperate for Jimmy to do a review on it so I can see what to do and what not to do with the assembly. I'm reluctant to start to it till he does. It comes with a blank setup I see.

DCM 24-11-2007 06:02 PM

no, it comes with a solid layshaft.

The seller actualy shouldn't of been selling, as the Durga isn't for global release till the 29th November, and it will be released at the same time as the swing shafts (CVD's) and slipper.

I also have a front one-way to trial fit in there.... hoping it fits.

jimmy 24-11-2007 07:40 PM

The Durga seems to have been around for a couple of months if you knew the right people, but like DCM says it's so they can get it out there to the various distributors for a worldwide release. I don't know the right people! but I do have 2 cars on order and hopups and a good driver for a side-by-side test.

jasonrcb 24-11-2007 08:15 PM

mine is built sprayed electrics fitted shocks changed and ready for coventry tomorrow then all being well the full hop up kit will be here for next sunday...lets see what it can do but i will say it buids well and a very free transmission

budgio 24-11-2007 09:56 PM

Any chance you could post some pics or some scans of the manual detailing how the suspension attaches to the chassis?

sosidge 25-11-2007 11:34 AM

Pics please! Also some feedback on how durable/flexible the chassis, suspension and drivetrain appears to be.

A.J. Gee 25-11-2007 02:41 PM

Pictures of this soon to be owned and much anticipated buggy will be greatly appreciated. Im also curious to see what Tamiya came up with for the box design. Im also wondering how some of you guys seemed to have gotten it so soon?

drinternat 25-11-2007 05:15 PM

durga

I sent an email to make sure the shop had it in stock and they did so i went in to Edinburgh on Saturday and bought one. See link
http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/Tami...4a&decrement=1

Where can i get the slipper clutch and the other hop ups though?

A.J. Gee 25-11-2007 07:01 PM

Does anybody have a pic of the box for the Durga?

PaulRotheram 25-11-2007 07:28 PM

see the post right before yours.

A.J. Gee 25-11-2007 07:32 PM

i did, but there are no pics on that site that i havent already seen.

sosidge 25-11-2007 07:56 PM

WOW! Durga available in Scotland before being released in Japan!

I shall commemorate this amazing happening with a slice of Jamaica Ginger Cake. Mmmmmm!!!!

Would still love to see some real pics of a user assembled car though. And hear whether is a hit or a miss in terms of build quality.

Doomanic 25-11-2007 08:03 PM

I saw one today (JasonRCB's) and it is typical Tamiya.
The plastics look a bit "oily", but everything fits together as it should.

I didn't get a go as his dad left early, but early reports are favorable.

A.J. Gee 25-11-2007 08:15 PM

Is there a web site for jasons rcb? I thought you were talking about jasons store.

sim 26-11-2007 03:46 AM

Someone in Malaysia is building one and posted some pics on RCTech. Not much so far though.

jasonrcb 26-11-2007 07:01 AM

sorry dom even had the batteries charged ready for you

well what can i say for a cheap car its quick and handles but as i found out today dont try and race it without a slipper clutch...the plastic is strong as i threw it hard at covs double jump and it didnt break now thats a plus point...its a little rear end heavy but i have an idea to cure that...the shell is ok but could fit better have a new shell on the way with all the hop ups and i will be cutting that out differentley

all in all i was more than happy with its first time out and i will do more testing over the winter

pictures of the car will be on the tamiya club once i have cleaned it up

if your looking to get a car that you want to develop and be different from the masses this is the car

A.J. Gee 26-11-2007 08:44 PM

Good looking out SIM. I checked out those pics on rc tech and those were the pics i was looking for.
