Hi, have you had any thermal issues with your rs pro with a 5.5?

I noticed when I ran the rs pro in my bmax, that the speedo got hotter than other speedies eg. lrp, novak.

I think maybe you could even reverse the direction of your speedy by 180, and put a fan facing the post.

No problems with thermaling, yet. I've been working on a graphite fan mount, just in case there's a problem later. It will place the fan over the esc and posts.

Are you sure your setting it up right, cant understand that it wont work, if thats the case your just unlucky, if you take the speedo back to the shop i'll have a look and test it.

Electronic on my Durango

Hi guys,
this is my new Durango, I just drive for fun, and I love this car. It is fast, stable and precise. The shocks are really good, the body looks really like a fish, like someone said on the Oople review, that is why I tried to make a fishbone shaped batteryholder.
Anyway, I run 84 spur, 22 pinion with a CC 5700 motor, I got the Losi super duty ball cups and D4-associated balls with Tamya and Takeoff pacer(shims).
Thank you have a great 2010 all of you:thumbsup:.

fastinfastout 03-01-2010 05:27 PM

any chance you could take a pic of the battery post, particular the rears?

and do you have any part numbers? that looks like a good idea! no more taking out the spur for a battery change

I have those orion packs but have not tried fitting it on yet.

is that a custom made carbon battery holder?

footey 03-01-2010 05:44 PM

recon you still need to take spur out as wont clear the chassie without hitting the shaft:confused:

Takes2home 03-01-2010 09:38 PM

Thank you, Fastinfastout.
I made the batt.holder from a 5mm carbonplate with a dremel and a diamond disc. As you can see on the picture I used some Integy 3cm alu spacer for the emaxx bulkhead(I dont remember the part n. but I can find it for you), then I cut them the size I needed, and on the two in the rear I put some heatshrink for vibration.

With the Orion lipos, if you want, you can use the stock Durango holder, like I did in the beginning but then you have to put two 0,5mm spacer under the 320001 , you need also to dremel off a bit of material so that the slipper nut doesnt touch the lipo holder-stopper, 320001 and two 0,5mm spacer under the ring 310039, here you can put also a bit of foam between the two spacer like I did on the picture. It works for me, I hope it will work for you too. I hope I could explain myself, my english is not so good.

Takes2home 03-01-2010 09:44 PM

Here is the stock battery holder, which I sanded off a bit.

Sorry for the quality, but my Iphone doesnt make god picture in the night.

Takes2home 04-01-2010 12:00 AM

Fastinfastout i forgott to mention that for the rear post you need to change the rear bulkhead stock screws with a 30mm long screws so that you can screw the alu post on it.
Ciao

fastinfastout 04-01-2010 02:22 AM

thanks for going to the trouble with the pics:thumbsup:

seems more involved than what I thought.

I will just shim the spur holder and shave the battery holder until the orions fit.

What battery packs fit in this? I am looking at the Robitronic 4600 35C saddle packs. I know the Dark series from Trakpower fit but they are not yet BRCA legal. Any other BRCA legal packs that fit?

I've decided on a Tekin RS pro and Speed Passion V3 7.5T motor, Savox SC1258.

AmiSMB 05-01-2010 07:47 AM

IP 4200mah fit nice plus they are very cheap via ebay. Yuntongs fit if you can find them!

RS Concept 06-01-2010 02:45 PM

Hi Guys,

Id like to buy this baby and lookin for servo what fits wo. troubles in it.

Does the Sanwa ERG RZ fits??? Im thinking about the pushrod from the servoarm to the saver. No inclined position???

thanx for help.

AmiSMB 06-01-2010 02:47 PM

I have tried a Futaba BL-451 and a Sanwa ERG-VZ and they both fit perfectly. I am thinking about putting a low profile servo so as to lighten up the front end a little.

Hi Ami,

Does it mean that normally- in case of standard size servo- its good to have to use the additional extra weight on the rear sector of the chassi?

tnx

AmiSMB 06-01-2010 04:18 PM

I just find that the front end drops when jumping. I am using Lipo IP 4200mah packs and the brass weight set at the rear so I am just going to try the low profile servo as it is over 20g less on the front. I used this servo in my X-6 but found that I needed more weight on the front so have gone back to using a Sanwa servo so though I would do the reverse on the Durango. Also it maybe nice to have some more space upfront for the transponder.

Malcnz 06-01-2010 10:41 PM

I see you can get IP5000 saddle same size as the old 4200s now.
My Durango is a little nose down to but dont mind it this way as a little throttle brings it up and means you can keep on the gas:woot:

HyperFX 07-01-2010 07:10 AM

Thanks to fastinfastout for suggesting to flip the esc. :)
This works much better and allows for a fan and cooler temps.

Thanks. It's an RS Pro. The motor at the time was a 5.5, now running a X12 6.5 with no heating issues at all...

I have also changed to Sanwa, with the Sanwa receiver there is more space but it's on its side. I will try and post a pic of that set-up. The Futaba is tricky because of the extra antenna hump. I wish Futaba would bring out a smaller receiver.

nice set up:thumbsup:
But I was actually thinking putting a fan where your receiver is, and standing up your receiver where your fan is.

That way, all the post will get a good blow, rather than the first 1 or 2 how you arranged it now.

but if its working for ya, dont change!:)

Actually, I tried that first, but didn't like the rx on it's side. It was difficult to get to the plugs. Also, the fan was trying to pull air from the side of the body, making airflow restricted.
This way the air is pulled from the openings in the front of the body and flows very well out the back. With the body on, the air can be felt about a foot past the wing!! Cooool!
I'm working on an alu radio tray to install everything on. I'll photo it when finished.

I like it, as it will allow you to put a fan facing the motor under the shaft!

shanks 08-01-2010 07:27 AM

To be honest not sure whether motor tabs will touch the shell yet as the shell was in the pant shop ( due back today)

put it in this way because it seemed less fussy than going under the prop shaft

will check the shell tonight hopefully will fit - I was assumming the shell fitted on the outside of the chassis so would be ok?

Thanks to my mate Tyson of rc-screws.co.uk who actually did the elec install for me - I don't think he wanted me to ruin the looks of the car with my ham fisted technique! (cheers pal)

samd 08-01-2010 07:35 AM

I did the same with mine, then got the shell back and it didnt fit. The shell steps in a bit at the sides after it chassis, just to make things more difficult!

shanks 08-01-2010 07:55 AM

Cheers sam made my day! Lol

well if shell touches I may be able to just rotate the motor a little to bring the tabs more upright

if that don't work looks like a re think will be on the cards!

i sent my sell off to be done,i couldnt work out why eveyone was putting there wire under the drive shaft,i had my motor slightly angled in and put the wires over it,i borrowed a bodyshell and the tabs rubbed on the shell,i think the only was it does fit is putting the tabs on the inside

Think u will have to move speedo too

shanks 08-01-2010 10:44 AM

Our joking?

Bugger teach me for not waiting till I got the shell back won't it!!!

Itching to drive the car now and hoping it goes anywhere near a good as it looks!!
