It's now similar to having a 4 gears gearbox, but with 3 gears and a motor that goes backwards.

But I was told at Oz they didn't wanna do that to get more steering, the car I saw back then had the motor spinning normally, with modified gearbox to get the shaft out the other side.

The gearbox hasn't been modified, just turned around.

Fabs 25-06-2009 01:22 PM

I see what you mean chris, sorry my bad... So you CAN'T get the same effect as a 4 gear without one...

Chris Doughty 25-06-2009 01:32 PM

indeed, its physically impossible unless you have an even number of gears.. (or an idler gear between spur and pinion X-5 proto stylee)

Fabs 25-06-2009 01:38 PM

Yeah my brain just wasn't working this morning... Wait... That's normal it never works :woot:

bondy 25-06-2009 01:38 PM

Hmmm !

that would be right ! get some work done !

Fabs 25-06-2009 01:42 PM

Shut up you I don't talk to traitors :p

DaveG28 25-06-2009 04:13 PM

Is the front shock tower standard or is there an Atomic one people are running on it?

Southwell 25-06-2009 05:06 PM

The team are running the standard shock towers.

GRIFF55 25-06-2009 05:12 PM

i run an atomic one. there are two types, a single or two piece one:drool:.
The two piece has taken some nasty abuse too:D

chemax92 25-06-2009 06:59 PM

About running backwards sensored speedo:
If you exchange at the same time two powerwires and two sensor wires, would work OK?

I don't think so - you'll get probably quite high negative timing on motor no matter what you'll do.

Yep.

OldTimer 27-06-2009 03:47 PM

I have just uploaded a new page on the website here with more info on the CR2 plus a base setup and a list of speedos which i understand are reverse rotor capable.

Hopefully over time more setups will be added ;)

mendocino 27-06-2009 04:04 PM

That's a really nice work Jonathan, as always I should say.

I wanted to add that every sensorless bruschless esc is also reverse rotating capable. (You just have to invert 2 motor wires) so you can add the Tekin R1, Mamba max and the others that I don't know. :D

Belsten 27-06-2009 06:55 PM

just finished building mine and cant wait to try it tomorrow :D

DCM 27-06-2009 07:09 PM

DCM 27-06-2009 08:01 PM

DCM 27-06-2009 08:22 PM

strobe 27-06-2009 08:25 PM

Good luck with the new car Belsten:p

Kusal 29-06-2009 12:01 PM

Can you also use a XXX BK2 for this conversion?

tyreman 29-06-2009 06:06 PM

Yes as the screw holes are in the same place.

DaveG28 29-06-2009 06:20 PM

Random question, if it comes with the battery posts but not thmb screws, will the thumb screws needed be the same size (well, I mean the gub screw really I guess) as the B44 ones or are they off another car??

Belsten 29-06-2009 08:00 PM

I dont think it comes with battery posts mate

Does the lower gearbox of the BK2 fit ok?

The final production kits will be supplied with custom made brass battery posts with a 4-40 thread. I could do thumbscrews but they work out very expensive and push the cost of the kit up a lot.

You have various options for thumbscrews the ae ones, the trishbits version, or just use a csk washer super glued to a csk screw ;)

Is it possible to fit a X-6 or Azarashi vaykal body on there?

migsy 04-07-2009 07:43 AM

cr2

belsten..What did you think of the the mid-motor you ran at heath park?
i enjoyed the project with my own but i did'nt like the way the rear kept stepping out on me, did you get that problem much?

Alan

c0sie 04-07-2009 09:38 AM

Saw Belsten's CR2 last night at our club, looked the bollocks!
Jonathon, another work of art :)

Southwell 04-07-2009 03:25 PM

The thing i like about the car is you can just nail the throttle out of a corner and it will just straighten itself up, no understeer, no drama. If you can do that with an X6 then no wonder i couldn't stay near them with a rear motored XXX.

Welcome to the future of 2wd cars Ian, with the motor where it belongs.....;)
