Is racing on as normal this weekend what with the Bank Hol and all that? I am not local, but in the area for the weekend and would like to pop down. I can't quite make out from the video, is it astroturf surface? What tyres does everyone run in general?

Cheers

Lloyd

Astro indeedy. Ballistic buggy green minispikes, or schumacher green minispikes, yellow minipins if you love a bit of grip roll. That'll be all round on a 4wd, or an a 2wd, them on the back and Schumacher staggered ribs on the front. In the chucking rain, or very wet conditions, Yok TR32s.

Hope to have been of some help:thumbsup:

AlisdairO 01-05-2009 10:50 PM

As far as I'm aware, racing is on as normal this weekend, 9 - 12.30. It's astroturf, and people generally run staggered rib fronts and mini pins/spikes rears, all yellow, for 2wd. Not sure about 4wd.

edit: damn, too slow ;)

captain-codpiece 01-05-2009 11:09 PM

Cheers guys! I will try and make it down then, I am running 2wd, I got yellow mini spikes and mini pins, track looks awesome!

AlisdairO 01-05-2009 11:47 PM

It'll be great to see you there :). Do grab some staggered ribs for the front if you can - the 2wds tend to oversteer/grip roll with spikes on the front.

captain-codpiece 02-05-2009 12:45 PM

Ok cool, thanks for the advice. I have swiped some staggered fronts, will chuck them on this afternoon! See you there:thumbsup:

mikeyscott 02-05-2009 01:09 PM

I may run staggered tomorrow, but haven't got any foam inserts. I ran schumacher minis allround last week without issues.

captain-codpiece 02-05-2009 01:27 PM

So do you guys just jump straight in to heats or can you get there nice and early for a few practice laps?

dibble34 02-05-2009 06:48 PM

The normal setup is pracitce for a while i think the first race is around 9:30. Normally there are 2 race groups of 5 to 7 people. The first race is a staggered start or qualifying i guess you could call it. They then try and get in another 5 races for each race set, if that makes sense!

mikeyscott 02-05-2009 08:43 PM

the only problem I have is the number of races. lots of cells needed..

I dialled my grip roll out with an anti roll bar, but that may change when I run a faster motor. not this weekend due to soldering heat issues... so may just buy a brushless motor.

jkonline 06-05-2009 11:15 AM

Hi

Hi, Some of you may remember I came down to the track a few weeks back (after posting on here) looking at getting started in RC racing having never done it before. Well I thought I would post a bit of an update.

After taking your advise and a lots of searching over the last few weeks I opted for a second hand B4 Stealth that has been upgraded with threaded shocks etc., a gtb esc, a 13.5 brushless motor and a Sanwa Gemini 2 along with some other bits.

It is all coming together now and hopefully I should be down this weekend or next with my b4.

Thanks for you help and see you all soon.

John.

mikeyscott 06-05-2009 12:35 PM

good and we'll help when you hit the track. sounds like you have got a nice combo there

mikeyscott 07-05-2009 11:59 AM

great mornings racing people :)

Fingers crossed for an indian summer

jkonline 24-05-2009 08:48 PM

Just have to remember the sun cream next time as I am a little burnt.

Good first morning, excluding the fact i only finished half of the races I started but something to improve on.

Wahoo I can come Sunday all going to plan.......

Thoroughly enjoyed last time guys, excellent track and a real good setup. Can't wait to give it another thrash!

mikeyscott 26-05-2009 09:48 PM

Cool. I should be racing if I get ready Saturday early as I'm out in the evening at Counting Crows in Bournemouth.

Last weekend was cool and good numbers too :)

Win the lottery and I'd fund a transponder system!

mikeyscott 28-05-2009 07:57 AM

captain-codpiece 30-05-2009 06:22 PM

It's just a shame that I don't live daaaaawn saaaarf anymore.:( Otherwise I'd be there every week. And looks like it'll be a scorcher....bonus!

mikeyscott 30-05-2009 06:51 PM

cool. i'll be bleary eyed tomorrow as i'm in bournemouth at the mo at counting crows concert.

captain-codpiece 31-05-2009 07:56 PM

Just a quick note to say thanks for a great days racing today!

Great track, great atmosphere and even great weather. I don't know why there aren't more tenth off roaders down south, cos this place is frickin' awesome.

Cheers guys, see you next time I am in the area.

carty 14-06-2009 11:38 PM

drove up for a look at track sunday afternoon, missed you all as you finish around midday i think, now ive found it will either start coming next sunday(although being fathers day could make it tricky) or the one after,
looks like a good old fashioned buggy track excellent, quite a trek but going to be worth it, should be two of us coming to race poss 4 at most, what sort of numbers do you guys get there, thanks dave.

mikeyscott 15-06-2009 08:42 AM

Hi,

What time did you get down there?

Anything from about 15 - 20 at the moment, it's a small club with fun racing.

carty 15-06-2009 11:13 AM

i came up around 2.30/3pm mainly just to find it and have a look at the track, ive been meaning to get up there for ages now as racing on road just isnt the same

AmiSMB 15-06-2009 11:15 AM

I am hoping to come up on 28th June as I am not busy with 1/8th RallyX that weekend.

mikeyscott 15-06-2009 11:18 AM

The more the better... The track rocks fingers crossed as more numbers = better racing and funds etc. for improvements. However I'm one of these people who will quite happily put my hand in my pocket for this club.

One thing I'd love is a lap counting system, but they cost mega money.

dibble34 15-06-2009 11:37 AM

Great to see some more people interested in joining in

If you have any questions about the club, just post em and we will hopefully be able to give you the answer.

Things have really picked up over the last 6 months or so. Track is in good condition and creating some close racing:)

They guys that run the club are now looking into getting a better second hand timing system, hence my post in the wanted section.

mikeyscott 15-06-2009 11:43 AM

I reckon the club should do an extended days racing to about 3pm once a month and particularly in the numbers spike up.

carty 15-06-2009 02:46 PM

ok guys, my mate shaun who will be coming up with me has just got himself a b4 stealth kit any set up ideas? shock oils etc would be great for me to pass on to me also he is eager to purchase a brushless system tonight and has been recomended a 6.5t system, im thinking this may well be a little bit to much for the track as it seems quite technical and not all about speed what turns are you all running, thanks dave.
p.s almost forgot he'll be running lipo as well
