Yep it is Romulus. Nice guy and brilliant machining.

RobW 04-06-2013 10:50 AM

We'll I've pre-ordered one so hope enough get through to UK to fulfil all the pre-orders.

Going to build it and it will probably get a little light use with something like a 21.5 brushless so I'll want to put some bearings in it. Anyone know what size it needs? Found this on the bay but no idea if they are correct for the 6 gear gearbox. I'll buy them in the UK if possible but just need to know the sizes.

Still really surprised this has happened and that the cars are due so quickly:D

Cheers

I have two on pre-order.

Not sure i'll build either yet, but if one gets built it wll probably get a 13.5T Tekin brushless system for very light running on 'special days' and sit pretty on the shelf the rest of the time.

That appears to be the bearing kit for the stealth tranny cars.
The 6-gears used to huge, shoulder-less, bearings on the outdrives.

Crashtest33 04-06-2013 04:51 PM

RC10 ordered!
AE allocated my local 'Herts RC Models' shop three of them.
Woop woop!!

quincey 04-06-2013 05:45 PM

I've got one!,my local hobby shops got 3 left on pre-order..Active scale models in hockley/Essex if any one can't get hold of one..

Jamesk 04-06-2013 07:12 PM

It looks so tempting and I've got some old brushed Parma motors and nicads somewhere, I'll have to get the old 27meg handset out too.

I ordered 2 yesterday - a bit of variability in pricing across sellers at the moment too, probably a reflection of the uncertainty of what we are actually getting !

Thanks, I'll hang fire until I'm sure. I would not be surprised if someone starts advertising bearing kits for it soon anyway:)

The urgency has decreased a bit anyway as the original late June release date was apparently a bit optimistic and now looking at August.

Well I have just placed an order with MB models. The next question is build and race or shelf queen?
I have never driven an RC10 but did race against them with a Hotshot!!

Jamesk 05-06-2013 08:07 PM

Thorp Dirt Burners Gear Set

Hi Guys
Chris from California has the full 6 gear Tranny set for sale. Do we think this would be of a higher quality than the original or even new gears?

IF I run one of mine then a 13T brushless will be my choice - quick enough for a little fun without trashing it, and kind enough to the transmission for some longevity.

Ross 06-06-2013 11:27 AM

What shell is that please :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what truth there is in these rumors. IF they do a re-release, then I certainly hope that they make the parts slightly different here and there so collectors can identify what's vintage and what's not. A re-re on it's own can hurt the vintage market of that car, and it will be mercilessly annihilated if they make it exactly the same as an original version of the RC10.

Look at Tamiya: 3 years after the re-re, who is still talking about restoring, let alone running or racing an original Sand Scorcher? I know with the many versions and loads of updates this might not completely apply to the RC10, but it won't recover from such a thing

The body is a RCPS Mirage SS, which was reproed by mrlexan about 4 years ago. Most of his bodies were made by buying the original moulds but he's moved on from body repros after Bluegroove started copying them and undercutting his prices.

I pro-ordered one today...

I have not read the whole topic ... but is a delivery time known in Europe?

percymon 12-06-2013 06:59 AM

Stock expected late August, but this interview suggests timing may already be slipping towards mid September..

http://www.myrcbox.com/interviews/te...-rc10-classic/

UK sellers are quoting 'delivery expected late August / delivery 30th August'

KRob 26-07-2013 10:09 AM

Well, with all the spares now listed for this (there's a few more to come over those currently on the AE site - I'm sure they'll be up soon).

I can see what will happen, people have cars that are in various states of repair so might well be ordering spares to finish off their current cars. We (CML as distributor) want to make sure people would get what they want - but I don't really know what people are likely to be after.

So can anyone help - which parts are going to be the most sought after?
Cheers.

Naushad 26-07-2013 01:50 PM

Front nose plate
Transmission components
Rims?
Arms

Difficult one K, at the weekend I ran my rebuilt CE/Stealth for the first time in 18 years, up at Kiddy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Infact due to it been more consistent throughout the day, it would of qualified me exactly the same place on the grid as my MM Yok, which is a bit worrying. But what I'm probably trying to say is and you may agree, that here in the UK we want to race the later versions of the car, i.e. Stealth boxes, wide arms, later shocks, u/j's, ballraced steering, 25 degree blocks etc. etc.

So looking from that side I'm sure things like chassis parts and compatible white parts would be quite popular replacements, steering bellcranks, body posts, bulkheads, rear arm mounts, rear uprights and arms.

As to the classic side of racing in the UK, I don't know how popular this will be. I for one was tempted in getting one, but the lack of racing has said to me save my money for something else, I don't know I could be wrong. So again looking from this side, if people are going to race the classic, then your always going to need spares, but if the majority never see a wheel turn, then why do you need spares.

The other thing you probably need to look at is spares availability, with the TT/AE production of spares, it is going to be a time slot/batch production in China. So although plenty of spares will be produced, if a certain item becomes in short supply, we could be unlucky and wait several months before another batch can be produced. Another thing to consider is the plastic they are using, if they are using the stuff of old. You know as well as me that the stuff was pretty indestructible, but if they are going to use something similar to today's cars, then things are going to break on occasions.

Don't know if this helps, I'm sure it's something you've discussed much yourself, so hopefully you get it right. Out of interest has there been much feedback on a class of these racing. Also what chance is there of Proline running this shell again.

TH.

Easy one that. Rear arm mounts are by far the most sought after spares, everything else is fairly indestructible.

White ball cups, rear bulkhead, front caster blocks, front arm mounts, idler gears and gearbox outputs. The new rear bulkhead is an easy way to make an RC10 lipo compatible without hacking up an original one. Nose plate, the screw threads holding it to the chassis wear out but it depends on the price as the $30 price from Associated means you are just as likely to source a period correct one instead of buying a new one. The same with chassis, people might be interested in a new replacement but again Associated have priced it at $72. Steering assembly wears pretty quickly, but anyone planning on racing would be more likely to get the A&L ballraced steering arms. Dogbones are easy to lose, but again ubless you have to run as spec you will replace them with MIP CVDs that are still being made for it

Both Protech and Viper bodies, the Viper is correct for later CE cars that anyone racing would be using, but a lot prefer the Mirage shells from Bluegroove instead. RC10 rear wings and wire wing mounts and wing buttons are usually missing on old cars, while the wing wire and buttons can be easily found elsewhere the wing itself is pretty unique for the early cars.

Just got in and found a lovely box from mb models:thumbsup:

Have already ordered a bearing kit within the 10 minutes I've been in and now thjnking about electrics.

Now all I need is a day off work when I can build it in peace.

Hi Nick,
I noticed that the box does not has the "Classic" word like in the re-release pictures that where circulating around. So the box is absolutely similar to the old one?

Get into you mancave and enjoy the build!!!!!

Started. Couldn't resist!
Got a bit further than these photos actually just need to do the shocks & wheels now.

percymon 10-10-2013 11:21 AM

Some negativity over on RC10talk regarding the quality if the stamping and anodizing, what's yours like ?

Can't understand the large sticker on the underside of the box either, rather silly place to out it, and mine is very badly applied - thank goodness im not buying it for the box ;)

Crashtest33 10-10-2013 10:18 PM

Mine seems fine tbh. Trouble is I've never built or owned one.

sn8k eyez 11-10-2013 12:43 AM

I was gonna mention that an ebay seller, superhobby, just put some up for $249.99 BIN with free shipping but then he bumped up the price by $20 more after 5 sold within the hour. Bummer :(

Mines got a very small scar on it on the front of the left hand side where it is bent upwards but nothing more than you're going to get as soon as you run one in a vintage race.
