It's an old meteor (still with mechanical speed controller installed!) and it's quite rough having survived my childhood thrashings, but I think that it'll repair o.k.
Would I be right to say that B4 etc wheels are 2.2inch? If so, then the wheels for the meteor are only 2inch - they are definately smaller than the wheels I use for the B4...

Northy 13-10-2006 07:58 AM

Yeah 2", but don't worry we'll get some tyres to fit, even if we have to cut and shut to reduce the diameter! :o

Old "softs" would be ok.

Andy,

I think I have secured you a gearbox cover for your ProCat. :D

The online entry form is not working on some people's servers - if your entry does not appear on the list after 48 hrs PM me.

The online form is better however as I don't have to enter your info manually.

Northy 16-10-2006 07:44 AM

Lazy t**t! :D

I might be able to borrow a Niko Super Sprint, does this qualify?

You remember it was the one almost decent buggy Niko ever made, came with a 19t motor about 10 years ago which was mad at the time on a mech speedo.

Am I allowed in?

jimmy 16-10-2006 09:28 PM

super sprint is from the 80's isnt it ? look good

Northy 16-10-2006 09:39 PM

Yeah I suppose, but you can't use the crazy speed 19 turn! :D

G

super__dan 17-10-2006 08:07 AM

I've realised I think it was stick pack only and therefore virtually rules me out!

jimmy 17-10-2006 09:07 AM

Stick or not, you'd find most cars are a challenge to fit modern cells in - so a few test runs are in order.. goodness knows what happened to cell dimension rules.

super__dan 25-10-2006 05:15 PM

OK another option, I should be able to borrow either a Cat 2000 EC or a Yoke YZ10. Do these qualify?

The YZ10 is no works 93 for ultimate retro but it's pretty old all the same!

Northy 25-10-2006 05:20 PM

Cat 2000 EC is too new, i think Damo suggested pre 1990?

G

super__dan 25-10-2006 07:40 PM

Pre 90? Good grief, release or current car cos that would rule out most RC10's surely?

Northy 25-10-2006 08:02 PM

Release dude

super__dan 26-10-2006 07:11 AM

It's comes with an old Trinity stock motor (27t), as I'm not going to be able to do the series anyway, could I do it as a one off with this slower motor, just for the fun?

WHITTLER555 26-10-2006 09:00 AM

Don't worry Dan, you won't have to use any of that new fangled YZ10 stuff. I should have another historic available by tonight so that will be three runners so I can arrange an "Arrive and Drive" Hire deal!!!:D

Northy 26-10-2006 11:50 AM

Dan, yes you can run it with a 27 turn. Fun this is supposed be to. :D

Excuse my randomness, but i was just browsing for old R/C stuff and found this - i had completely forgotten about the ZX, after about a year of racing i had an awesome ZXR, but seeing this bought back memories of the first club meets i did and all the top guys were using these!

Was such an awesome looking car in the day!

too bad I can't be there. I've found the following eligable cars in my parents basement :
  • Tamiya Wild One
  • Tamiya Big Wig
  • Tamiya Super Sabre
  • Tamiya Egress
  • Schumacher ProCAT
  • RC10T (but that one almost belongs to Northy ;) )

I love the retro car revival. Already bought the Frog rerun.

Now that sounds ideal. Very good skills indeed!

If it's an RC10 with Tekin mid motor conversion I'd be stoked as I'd not only be running Tekins still but running X Factory theory? That said I'd be happy with a grass hopper :D

WHITTLER555 26-10-2006 03:39 PM

:D Here we GO! Just aquired a Kyosho Ultima Pro with period Futaba ESC and Radio gear!!!

Funny thing is that when the chap brought me the car it was in a Pendle Models holdall (bit like a Beatties bag) and that was/is my uncles model shop. So chances are I sold this car to him 15 years ago???

Also came with Acoms mains quick charger and a Tekomo slope charger!
:D :D

Stu 26-10-2006 03:55 PM

Good score.
I can't find the RC10 bodies on ebay - where are they - link please.

Col 28-10-2006 05:23 PM

Just dug out the old meteor from my garage. Do you think that it might have seen a few better days?

No, it looks ace!
Get it raced. :D

the mardave website (mardave.com or mardave.co.uk) only seems to sell parts for the V12 and cobra, so I'm a little stuck at the mo...

P_B 29-10-2006 08:35 PM

Good luck finding Meteor parts! I seem to be having a little trouble coaxing Cobra parts (that I paid in advance via paypal for) from mardave.com, so I'd advise giving them a wide berth at present anyway. Hopefully a quick call will resolve this.

[Edit: One stern email, no actual reply but a package of bits arrived soon after. Have now sourced an alternate supplier for most parts.]

May have to rethink my vintage entry at this rate though!

Stu 29-10-2006 09:21 PM

You know you want it,

Ebay Meteor

Northy 29-10-2006 10:02 PM

I want it!

Ive bid on this beast, for the Vintage meeting. Although i have sourced a Cobra too, so if anyone wants to outbid me, feel free to!

Northy 30-10-2006 07:38 PM

Jim? :confused::D

Stu 30-10-2006 07:47 PM

If someone runs this it should be the class of the field?

WHITTLER555 30-10-2006 08:43 PM

Just finished fitting the new Whittle team colours bodyshells to the RC10 and the XXT.

HMMM! NICE!:D

ps. G, I've found some original Associated Gold springs which have stiffened it all up rather nicely, first run this weekend at the Aces.;)

Stu 30-10-2006 09:00 PM

JRX-2 + RC10 madness

WHITTLER555 30-10-2006 09:08 PM

Losi looks nice, RC10 looks shite!

Northy 30-10-2006 09:12 PM

Damo, that RC10 is the bollocks :D honest.

Stu, nice sig, time for me to update mine.....
