you dont gain anything from it so pointless to me ..

I believe it's to make sure all types of electrics will fit in with no problems, although they look like they would being thinner anyway....you don't like curves then wraggy? ;)

That looks the business, the absolute business. What a treat we have for 2008 :woot:

jimmy 08-02-2008 02:06 PM

agreed! when I started racing in 2002 the selection was pathetic. now there are more cars than I could possibly afford - and I want them all

Alfonzo 08-02-2008 02:40 PM

Likewise :drool::woot::drool::)

i see that a reciever and ESC has not been fitted. It almost looks like we would have to choose one or the other! I wonder if there is a pre-order list?

RogerM 08-02-2008 05:33 PM

Well that looks nice doesn't it!!! You just can't knock Serpent for build / manufacturing quality as they are amongst the best in this business!!

The weight distribution will be interesting to see. Servo and cells on the centre line ... great ........... going to have to be a really FAT speedo and Rx to balance the motor to get the front side to side distribution on the money ....... or a lot of lead!!!

One of the 4wd's I have sitting on my desk in front of me has to use only 10g extra weight to get the side-side weight distribution spot on both front and rear and the other needed less than that!!!! Before anybody pipes up my stock ZX5-SP is under the desk and the BJ4WE is in a different room.

Don't want to sound too negative and please read this how it is meant ...... just wondering about relative corner weights of this car when compared against some of the others.

DaveG28 08-02-2008 07:24 PM

T'aurais pas confondu avec le CAT ?

andys 08-02-2008 09:34 PM

Well, looks rather familiar to me...

If I was Aero, i'd be setting my lawyers on these cowboys :):);)

Renegade 08-02-2008 09:54 PM

Wasnt the durango out much before the aero and the atomic carbon cars? And if they are going to play that game I guess jconcepts, associated, and hotbodies are gonna have to duke it out as well. IMO this is the best wheeler I've seen and I'm really digging the aluminum chassis.

Yeah I was wondering the same...

Are brushless motors lighter than brushed? If a brushless motor is a bit lighter, then that combined with the bigger, heavier brushless esc might re-balnce the car somewhat.

bender 09-02-2008 04:35 AM

How good does it look

cccccccccccrazy. but i like it!

super__dan 09-02-2008 08:43 AM

Rog - Brushless motors (Novak L's anyway ;) ) are lighter than my brushed motors and the ESC are certainly bigger and heavier than my old brushless ones. Not sure if it exactly balances, but not a million miles off.

nitrokillah 09-02-2008 09:06 AM

Don't get me wrong ... this car dose look Amazing:drool:. But I like the S4/S44 Carbon Fiber based chassis better...
I don't think it will bother me as much to struff-up that alu chassis as it would a carbon one.
Humm... hint hint

I've been at the CAD station recently Dan and before I started I weighed lots of options, although I must admit that I used Paul W's cell weights as lets face, what is the chance Paul's scales are significantly in error ... zero .. LOL

I've compared brushed combinations (Nosram Dominator speedos and BRM / checkpoint motors) and brushless (Novak GTB 5.5R and LRP TC and X11 6.5) along with servos from Hitec, Futaba and KO. Also taken both AMB and MRT PTs in to consideration too.

Based on those measurements and my CAD models the S500 will have to be fitted with more lead than an Edwardian terrace's plumbing if it's too balance perfectly side - side both front and rear.

How much will people notice it? Open for debate.
