Pardon my ignorance but isn't the B44 metric? If so does that mean you do now have coloured metric fasteners? Any colour other than blue?

My wallet will hate you for it but the B4 will love you, tough call :lol: another thing i noticed actually is it mentions 25 screws for the kit... on a quick count up i got about 35. Is it a typo, a kit for everything that 'shows' or the fact that i can't count? :confused:

edit: just reread the thing about them on the nortech site and it implies they're made of ali/steel as mentioned before in this thread, so that answers that :thumbsup:

The current B4 kit in the shop isn't a 'full' kit, it is simple a kit to replace some of the lower load bearing screws with blue ali ones, and add some other bling in other areas.

I'll take some pictures :thumbsup: I need to fit it to my B4 :o never enough time.... Paul Rotherham has had it on his B4 for over a month now and hasn't broken an ali screws, and I think he's given it a good beating !!!

Got some pics off rothers and it does look rather good, only downside is he's turning me towards white jconcept ball cups too :thumbsup: wallet hates me this month :eh?:

Hello,

I'm just wondering if there is a screw set for B44 in metric system. I live in Greece (where we use the metric system) and I'm facing problem in finding screws in inches (or even allen keys in inches). I'd bought my B44 through tower hobbies (america) and I don't know if a metric edition exists.

And something more: is there a tip in order to unscrew screws more easily? I'm trying to unscrew the top plate and the screws on the front gearbox (screwed in plastic=no screw cement) are unable to turn! I've already broken 2 1/16" allen keys and still nothing!:(

I've just found a solution for easier unscrewing. I put the soldering iron on the head of the screw for aprox. 10secs! Then the screw unscrews much much more easily without damaging the allen key!;)

Nope, for only 10secs (maybe less) the plastic is ok! But, believe me, I've done this because it was reeeealy impossible to unscrew with an L shape allen key!

I'm about to order hex screwdrivers in inches from towerhobbies in order to screw & unscrew more easily;)

As I understand there is no way to use metric screws on this kit, right?

It looks like that kit has some screws in ali that you wouldn't want in ali :thumbdown:

I'm also interested in a "bling" kit for my B44 but it has to be durable and not soft as butter like a lot of the blue alloy are... ;)

Sorry for the delay, I am still working on it.

But what you say is correct. Ali screws can not be used throughout the entire car, only in low load-bearing areas.

The Nor-Tech kit will only use ali screws in areas where they can take the stress, and will be tested before release too. Other areas of the car should use steel or stainless steel screws.

The stainless screws are ordered but my supplier has been having problems. I should have them in a week or so hopefully.

All the ali screws are here and will be tested at Worksop this Sunday :thumbsup:
