Jimmy which one won the worlds and can you remember the year? We must be talking late 80's?

There was the yankee electra only ever saw one. I think at that time yankee was a french firm made 8th cars and this was a bit of a dabble into 10th in late 80s early 90s ish. But it was a long time ago and I may be wrong.
I think AYK made a chain drive around he same time as the Kyosho Optima.

oops, gone a bit off topic hasn't it :)[/quote]Lol, yep gone a bit off topic, its Schueys fault for realising a belt drive:D

Will try and find the name of the car i'm thinking off:confused:

jimmy 25-01-2008 11:50 AM

I found a bunch of yankee electras in some far east country somewhere - sadly the guy who got one for himself lost his job and didn't travel there again. I don't remember what drivetrain it had but I do remember it had a centre diff!

RLGfx 25-01-2008 11:50 AM

It's the AYK I was thinking off, quite a few of the lads at my club had them and sold them as quick as they bought them.:D

matdodd 25-01-2008 11:54 AM

Beat me to it :D So do I, Im sure hes still got it!

Alfonzo 25-01-2008 11:54 AM

Kyosho Rocky

jimmy 25-01-2008 11:57 AM

I think woody has a chain drive ayk sidewinder or somet - All my AYK cars are 2WD, so I forgot about those :)

I think I need a 'vintage' section even more than a schumacher one

racingdwarf 25-01-2008 12:01 PM

If I remember the chain on the AYK was ungarded in a few places and it was hard to do 5min without getting a stone in the chain.......It was hard to get 5min out of any 4wd with the cells those days and the weight of the car:D. I set light to many intronics firefly speedos:o.

Yep well off topic:D:DBut this will force me to go look in the loft as I have copys of RRC mag from early 80s through till 90s......knew they were worth keeping

That would have to be one of the most rare cars you could have in a collection. worth looking out for

jimmy 25-01-2008 12:15 PM

The shop in question apparently had about 10 yankees, but also a bunch of mini mustangs and other things. Stuff like my XLS were bought off the shelf in a shop. So I guess there are still a bunch of 'oldies' kicking about, but it must be getting harder these days.

I've seen the electras for sale on yahoo auctions japan a few times - did get offered the guys new built one but said no. I've got too many cars anyway!

Kopite 25-01-2008 12:21 PM

i knew Robin or Doddy would get on this thread and talk about the Pro Radiant! Who had one from our group lads? Was it McRae?

Stupid bloody orange wishbones, although probably not as bad as my old pink ones from the RC10 team car years ago. What a tit!!
