Top day Friendly as always. It also seemed that evey one respected the parking request.

Glad all went well, see you at the next one

Another excellent all day meeting!. Cheers Team Torch for a well run meeting!.

Had a fantastic day if slightly disappointed by crashing out of the lead of leg 3 in the a final. Think I ended up 4th overall?
Was really hard work getting the mad rat round at that pace. I had a go with a losi after the meeting and was very impressed. Very well run meeting. Track is a challenge for car and driver. I did one morning meeting a few weeks ago and was faster this time straight away. Setup changes every round kept improving the car to the point that the gearbox gave up in the last heat. Mad rat was standard bar ball races, turnbuckles and shocks (2nd hand hand off eBay £25) + an alloy idler gear in the gearbox after above failure. Tempted to change the rat for a monkey and to change the steering servo for a quicker one. May be able to keep up then  |
We missed you Dean,
Qualifying sucks - finals Rock. Hope you can come to the next one. |

when you next down there |
Sounds like I missed a good meeting
From feedback from the committee, guys I need YOU THE RACERS to check the YOUR PTs on the heat listings. Then if they are wrong people can fix them before racing starts. |
Have to agree with everyone it was a great days racing-It was my 1st all day meeting and enjoyed it 100x times more than the normal half day IMHO. Track time was brilliant and 3 leg finals is a great bonus.
It was run very well considering the large number of drivers for such a small and upcoming club. And track is very fun to drive since my last visit 6+ months ago. Big well done to all the team for sunday was a great day for me personally. I have 1 slight thing that could possibly be looked at, is some of the driving? I know its a friendly meeting, but on numerous occasions there were a few *Iffy* overtakes or passes. I was unlucky enough to be pushed around a fair bit yesterday, but some people were totally wiped out. Didn't seem to be much in the way of Etiquette in my view. And this was in some of the top finals. And people walking off the rostrum+marshals leaving there spots while the races are still running ect.. Some very slow marshalling too. I know its hard to keep a eye on, but it seems that it happened a fair bit yesterday. And for the club to keep progressing and encouraging some top driver's I think rules and warning should be looked at. Anyway a few people have asked about my setup for my rango so I will post it below for people to have a look at. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...y2011SETUP.jpg (Please ignore the Roll=1 down thing) cheers guys thanks again |
We will discuss the role of a race director. However please also take into account that the commitee for this club is very small. It wasn't helped that I had a family event that caused the comitee to work harder yesterday. Trust me I know how hard it is to run a meeting and keep everyone happy.
So hats off to the comittee and the team of TORCH helpers yesterday - you know who you are. |
Would just like to say a big thanks to everyone at Torch for a really well run meeting yesterday.
There were alot of us down there and everything went smoothly. Roll on next month!1 |

I appreciate that Mike, It was not a dig or anything the guys did a fantastic job with the high number's. Just thought I would mention it, even mentioning it at drivers briefing may help and then they know that they could be penalised or something if they don't drive fairly? Even that itself will show people that they have to race fair and they *Could* be penalised. I understand alot of the member's are locals just wanting to race and relax on sunday, but then again if someone for instance travels far and does nationals-or the like. And finds he is used as a dogem car, Im sure he would be a bit annoyed and would think x2 about coming back down? that my view anyway. I mean no offence to the club, you have all done a remarkable job. Just thought I would put in my 2pence. As I did hear a few non locals mention the marshalling and some of the driving. |

Thanks for the feedback.
The problem with the PT numbers is acknowledged. We need to make it clear at the drivers briefing that every driver is responsible for checking their PT number on the heat listing before racing starts just as in the old days (before 2.4g) we were all responsible for checking our frequencies. I’ll add this to our list of things to mention. There were a small number of mistakes made on Sunday which resulted in people losing their first round scores which was really disappointing for both us as organisers and obviously the people involved. Really like to avoid this in future. As far as the driving/marshalling standards are concerned I did not directly see any particularly bad instances (all gentlemen in my heat:thumbsup:) but was informed of a couple of specific issues and in one case a driver was moved to a more appropriate heat after round one. We will look to see how we can improve things in this area and I agree a reminder at drivers briefing and then, if necessary, a gentle reminder at the start of the next round of any heats/finals that have seen a bit too much “rubbing” previously can be organised. Unfortunately there is little that can be done to reverse the damage to you once you have been taken out or poorly marshalled and my personal view is that if we get to the stage of having to hand out penalties then we have lost the plot in terms of a fun club day out which was the original idea of these meetings. I would not be willing to spend my Sundays handing out penalties to my fellow racers – not my idea of fun. Just need to try and keep the balance right between trying to let everyone have a fair days racing whilst not getting too strict. Looking forward to the next one already – just hope I have better luck in the finals – 3 laps in total yesterday:cry: Rob |
Ok
I hope those that moaned about marshalling / driving standards were equally not guilty of the offence.. Guys it's a balance, it's not a regional, it's not a national, just hopefully a great days racing. We will be putting forward for a regional I hope in 2012 and agree that then things could certainly be different. Rob has some very valid points which we the commitee will have a discussion about. |
Awesome day!
It was well run, finished on time and a credit to everyone involved. Great atmosphere. My only criticism, the track was back to being TOO NARROW again! The wider it is the more room for passing etc, which in turn means cleaner racing. As I've said for months, make it 3m wide everywhere. Wide doesn't have to mean easy. Of course I'm only moaning cos I can't drive with the accuracy of some of the better drivers! |
TORCH can easily go 3m wide as you have the space to do so there Simon, 3m wide all round is not something we could do for the whole of the SHRCCC track however so it's not always possible.
|
Thoroughly enjoyed the day despite my Rango misbehaving all day managed about 30 laps in total, but it just stayed together long enough in the last final too take the win minus a rear diff.
More money for RC Lazy!::cry: |
