Does it Mark? .... Looked last night and couldn't find any clashes.

Not sure if it helps at all but you'll probably be passing my place in Cheltenham (5mins off M5 J11) and am always up for a lift / fuel cost share as that means my better half can still use the estate to take the dog up the hills ....... where there is a better chance of loosing the little git ;)

markwilliamson2001 20-12-2007 05:29 PM

Yes, Dudley Indoor clashes...

Click on winter series link on left hand side, its the 20th Jan the meeting clashes.

Sorry to say!

Mark

Oh ..... missed that one! Since I will have a new 4wd (with no spares easily available) to try I don't know what to do now ... :( Decisions decisions... might have to run it at Coventry the following week I guess!

john

I see your point there John but the system counted every lap of every car in 2wd and also the micros. How many times do I have to say this!!!!!!!

Anyway im not going to argue with Rob Nelsons deductions as he knows more about the system than any of us.

At the next meetings it likely that the clubs infra red system will be used so thankfully I do not need to get involved. ;)

RogerM 20-12-2007 06:23 PM

Infra red ...... surely ther has to be a clear line of sight (visible) for that to work? How do your club members get on with it in touring car classes for example where the transponder will be under the shell????

Sounds like a very interesting alternative system.

rob8246 20-12-2007 06:52 PM

Rodg,

The pt's are mounted in the car giving line of sight through the bodyshell window.
The system does work extremley well and hopefully we can obtain more PT's in time for the 1st event.
We would love to have a new BBK system but at £1,842 for decoder, coax and loop it's a right kick in the nuts!:o

RogerM 20-12-2007 07:01 PM

Cool .... have to bear that in mind when placing a bug hole ....

Any websites with details? You've got me all interested (geeky little fellow I am and all)

rob8246 20-12-2007 07:24 PM

Go to www.rclapcounter.com for full details on the system.

There are also vids with the system in operation. :D

Great! :) Please take all input as constructive 'help to fix for next time' and not critism of the last mtg.

Just entered for all rounds! :D

Ouch!

But if entries were £15 rather then £10, potentially £1,000 approx "expendable" could be raised just off the 3 meetings. I can only see the club growing after how cool the MK GP was, so could be worthwhile? I dunno, just food for thought.......

ginger fixit 20-12-2007 10:11 PM

guys

dont get us wrong we will get an amb system but for the time being the one we have is ready to use with a few addons so we are going for that for now

thanks for all the suport 10 entrys allready awsome

nice idea but £15 is a LOT to pay for a days racing and this is suposed to be a relitivly cheap hobby, I used to pay £20 a day to race minimoto ( dont laugh ) and when a set of minimoto tyres costs £100 and a blown engine £200 it puts things into perspective.

I'm all for the club making money so that we can get more carpet and an a+b system but there may be some racers who would find £15 hard to swallow as an entry fee.

maybe we should have a poll, obviously the event can not be run at a loss and any profit we make is ploughed back into the club .

remember not all club racers have pt's and at £65 they aint cheap

ginger fixit 20-12-2007 10:17 PM

giles

nope just trying to balance the views, glypo's idea is good but we dont want to make newcomers or those who are on a restrictive budget loose intrest, I know £5 isnt mutch but £15 seems a bit steep to me.

I'd gladly pay it for another meeting though as I know how wisley you'll spend the money.

god that sounded so suckupy

glypo 20-12-2007 10:29 PM

Fair enough points. Regarding PT, with handout transponders the AMB system is better then the current system the club employees, as it will allow more drivers to run. Looking at the IR system website it seems it's limited to maximum of 7 drivers. AMB allows 10 handouts, so AMB would actually benefit those without PTs. AMB system does not require the use of PT's, it just allows it.

I think £15 is low for race entry to be honest. I'm only talking about the big events like the MK GP and this 3 race series, obviously for the usual club racing the £6/8 that is current used should not be raised. It seems people pay that just for an evening, so a whole day at £15 seems cheap. Heck most people will be spending double the current entry fee on tyres. In terms of what we spend on the cars etc, clubs get next to nothing. I'm all for higher racing fees, as like you say it gets invested back into the club.

RogerM 20-12-2007 10:30 PM

Rob, thanks for the lap counting system info ..... at that money it's almost worth buying one for practice days ... if a few shared it it's be quite cheap and far more accurate than a stop watch.

Can't wait to see how well it works.
