I think that double should be 1 continues smooth double. We'll have a fence up there to 'catch' any rocket powered cars that take off!

Hi Chris,

I think Bill is planning to leave the timetable until a bit nearer the date of the meeting so we have an idea of entry numbers. I wouldn't have thought the last qualifying round on Sunday would start much later than 9am.

Here's a quick update on the draft track plan - any thoughts from anyone?

http://www.rcracinguk.com/images/new.../lgc_draft.jpg

My thoughts are the cross over isn't a good idea and the track seems pretty spaced out and unchangeable. If this is going to be a permanent fixture i would be more inclined to close up all those gaps and have options to change the track easily...

Does look great though and has enormous potential...:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the comments Neil, much appreciated.

The idea behind the cross over was to have a clear perspex roof to maximise visibility but it's still just an idea so if it doesn't work, we'll ditch it. The plan is to mark out some draft tracks over the next few weeks but the visualisation is just to give people a rough idea.

We're planning having some 'have a go' sessions for members of the public that are interested in the hobby so we do have to make some of the track work for them too without compromising the track for the serious racers. We just want to try and take advantage from the large numbers of members of the public that will be there and get some new club members too.

Thanks again,

Keith.

Buggy GP 6th/7th August 2011

...have a look around the track:

I've raced crossovers many times and whilst they are a good idea and are great for spectators they're a nightmare to marshal.

I agree Neil. I don't think I would fit under there!

Should the north east be getting excited about this track after the meeting?? There's a huge amount of people desperate for a base track to use?? Any clue?

Hi Chris,

I'm afraid not, the track will be a one off.

There may be some possibilities for the future but all a very long way off just now.

Keith.

Booooo! Gutted!

Thanks to RC Racer Magazine

Just wanted to say thank you to Matt and Joe at ADH Publishing.

We have Radio Control Car Racer magazines to give out to spectators interested in joining a local R/C club or for those taking part in the public 'have-a-go' sessions supported by CML.

chris68nufc 15-06-2011 07:57 PM

Any more updates Keith??

KeithA 16-06-2011 01:25 PM

Hi Chris,

Not a lot to update you on really.

We are planning a 'draft' layout of the track before the end of this month, just so we have everything in place for the track build prior to the meeting in August.

There are around 40 entries at the moment with nearly 2 months still to go.

We have some booklets from the BRCA and copies of RC Car Racer magazine to give to spectators interested in possibly joining a club.

Finally, Castle Models (Peter) will be providing track side support for spares etc too.

Thanks again,

Keith.

If you google 'Lanchester Garden Centre' you will see the address there.

Would be great if you could make it. If you need any information on accommodation or transport just fire over an email to [email protected] and we'll try and advise.

As the other guys mentioned the ferry terminal is only around 20 miles from the venue but the ferry only departs from Holland!

To drive direct through Calais(France) to Dover(UK) is around 500 miles.

There's direct flights from Brussels to Newcastle airport (again, around 20 miles from the venue) but this is around UK£160 return. You may get a cheaper ticket from Easyjet or someone but would have to go via Amsterdam I guess!

Let us know if there's anything we can do.

Keith.

Dont think you can get the ferry from Belgium to north/south shields............

DFDS Seaways from Holland to North/south shields will probably be closest you can get
