Sweet! Look at that rear suspension! How looooong can a suspension arm be? :D

Just finished building a NIB Progress 4WDS... it's just as hopeless as I remembered it to be... very creative in a way, but oh so many hopeless solutions! :D It will rest on the shelf for sure!

OTOH I'm putting together a HotShot now. I'm really excited to see what it can do with LiPo and some modern tires!

Some questions:
-it it possible to fit a one-way in the HotShot?
-ball diff in the rear in the HotShot?
-tip as to modifying the wheel axles as to fit modern rims (plus make wider)?
-where can I buy alu tubing to make side fenders/roll cages etc? (incl. bending tool)

I have a friend with a lathe and two good hands... I guess I will be paying him some visits... :D

We need pics !

I am actually building an Optima...:)

Oh MY God, I love boomerangs and that picture of the Lucky Strike version has got to be the ultimate version!

My runner is not quite up to that standard but very good fun!

How do I include photos? So I can put a picture on to see what everyone thinks.

NIB? Kinda nice to "pop the cherry" huh? :p

It smelled kinda funny when opening some of the bags I must say!

I'll post some pics when I have the bodies done... (I never do one at a time) I'm waiting for my B.A.R. Honda stickers... (that F1 site could make them actually!)

Btw. Gayo, I finally got 3x belt rollers into my X-5, now it works! :D

@Steve: Totally agree! You can for instance create an account at www.photobukcet.com - then you upload pics there for free. After that you copy+paste the "image location" into this forum. You can also use the "paperclip" here when you reply to upload pics here as well.

There were several third party versions which replaced the propshaft when the Hotshot was released, finding them might be difficult these days.

Thorp made a ball diff for the Hotshot, if you find one expect to pay between $60 - $120 for it.

Take off the triangular drives, replace them with hex drives and fit your choice of Tamiya, Kyosho and Academy wheels straight on.

Here's Tamiyas version using Keen Hawk wheelshttp://images.onesite.com/webmaster....rg/58391_3.jpg

1) go to any model hobby shop, buy tubing2) fill with fine white sand, plug ends3) find object of appropriate curvature (can, rim, tit, ..) 4) bend (probably no need to even heat it)

if you want to drill the wheels out to 5mm the rears might fit on without an adaptor, but I've never tried it to see if they would fit.

Most car and hop up manufacturers make 12mm hex drives, they are used on every current touring car and apart from Associated and Losi ones every hex drive will fit the 5mm Tamiya axles.

Ahhhh....yes! Who doesnt love the vintage buggies especially when there are classes for them to race in. Myself and a few others here in Australia have been getting behind the vintage bugguy scene and have managed to get a few race meetings together.Just recently I attended a 2 hour vintage buggy enduro. Not quite your standard enduro as there were 2 drivers per team which allowed for 1 or 2 cars per team.It was a little more like a 'tag team' event. It was an absolute hoot with cars being allowed needed to be from prior 1990 and the control motor being the Tamiya 'Sport Tuned' black sealed can motor. The event went off without a hitch and saw many of the old cars from the day turn out some healthy laps.I ran my Topcat while my team partner ran his JRX Pro.Both cars faired well with only human error getting in the way of things-he he. Antway here's some pics from the event-enjoy.

@Bormac: nice pics mate! :D

Question guys: If I want to make the Hotshot wider, I would need to put on spacers on the outdrives, and then put on the hex drives. Any tips as to a suitable outdrive that is longer? Wild Willy 2 rear outdrive???

quincey 26-11-2007 09:13 PM

if you use the tamiya tg10 axle(or wild willy 2) it will allow you to use the wider hex.
we use this on TLT'S for crawling

Great pics Bormac, i,m inspired to do something similar here in sweden. Those Topcats are sweet..and damn hard to get:)

BORMAC 08-12-2007 01:41 PM

I have enough parts to build 2 more of those-he he. I may even end up selling one of them.
