super__dan 09-10-2007 09:04 PM

Seemingly nor have I, I think this is a red herring G!

MattW 09-10-2007 09:21 PM

I actually think some compaines are probably "scared" to have a go at making 2wd cars. I mean if you look at it, basically AE have the market sewn up, as long as their quality doesn't take a massive down turn then they are basically laughing.

So to "break" this dominance is going to take a serious effort, and i'm not sure how much time people are going to put into that.

Also, if you look at 4wd, there are not so many new parts for some compaines to make. Strange idea, but think about it. If thesaid company makes touring cars, then a lot of transmission bits can be carried over.

Also, it's accepted that double deck carbon cars are fine for 4wd - where as 2wd it has alwasy been considdered that you need a mould a tub. I don't think the market is quite in a place where "many" companies have the confidence (see above) to make a new chassis mould. I know there are exeptions, but generally speaking i think this makes it easier for companies to get into 4wd.

Chrislong 09-10-2007 09:35 PM

Hmmm, new chassis? Dan, this smells more like bullpoo than fish.

I wonder.... could it be that AE believe they have peaked with the B4 design? and that Losi know that and have basically given up trying to beat it. Maybe what we'll see is some great innovations from braver companies (X-Factory/Atomic) and little will change from those who don't want to innovate and gamble. Who knows, it may be soon when the big brands realise mid-motor is better and then push the boat out trying to make up on lost time ;)

bigred5765 09-10-2007 10:36 PM

i think dan and chris know a lot more than there letting on

jimmy 09-10-2007 10:39 PM

bigred5765 10-10-2007 10:25 AM

lol there no new chassis from x-factory at all, that is a red Herring,
supposed to be take light heartedly, like about 90% OF THIS PAGE

But you can buy the x6 knowing that it will be upto date with the latest available parts currently out there, and a bloody good buy it is to

A B4 with HB shocks on it??? :eh?:

andy05 10-10-2007 03:51 PM

People keep saying associated wont change a car thats still wining. They have recently replaced the rc10 gt with the rc10 gt2. Dispite the fact that the origional gt was still wining US nationals and infact it had won every US national since it was released! It was a very old desigin much older than the B4 but they still changed a car that was still dominating.

because no 'big' company (big as in associated.. losi.. etc) want to try a big change in design.

Hopefully they will click on after efforts from smaller companys shows what the mid motor design can do (like ellis has prooved this year showing great performances all round).

Chrislong 10-10-2007 05:27 PM

My average results in 2wd have been far better since changing to the X-6, and I have had my best result ever this year in 2wd. Also same since changing to the X-5 in 4wd but that has been nearly 3 years ago now for me.... so personally, speaking from experience (and honestly without any 'team driver' bias) I really can't justify changing to any of the more popular cars, it'd be foolish considering how much better my results have been since driving X-factory.

Mr Doughtyuk.net :)

You are quite aware about which championship im talking about BRCA.......... for those of you who dont. And to be fair Truhe did a pretty awesome job considering he didnt have that much support. I mean name another losi driver that was at the meeting (worlds) let alone a direct sponsored driver.

In my honest opinion i have tried all of the cars available and i do prefer the Losi, im assuming that it suits my driving style. The B4 was good especially at southport but i did a race with each and i was about 8 seconds quicker with my losi. I've driver an x6 and it felt ok, but it just wasnt my cup of tea. Never driver an S2 but i would imagin i would still prefer my losi. I mean i managed to win the first Schumacher Indoor meeting with it so it cant be that bad.

I know where ill be sticking.

Danny
