Sorted again! like a merry go round!

bigred5765 06-10-2007 10:47 AM

for god sake why don't these silly hackers, go and try hack something that would be a challenge for em, you know like some government site or FBI head quarters, this is a average Joes site thats doing loads of good stuff for normal people, why mess it up,were not impressed, and its such a bore, don't know about your site jimmy but in my control panel it has a ip capture piece of software, you could report the last few ips caught to nominet UK, who would prosecute them for electronic theft,

Riyadh, SAUDI ARABIA

But, FYI, I found a log entry with someone visiting from a hack site, where you can put lists of vulnerable servers and the type of crappy defacement you did - like some sort of 'look how cool I am' thing. It's the responsibility of hostrocket (my hosts at the moment) but they are bad. I am still preparing the new server, maybe it's best to move asap though - the forum will be down for a little during the move, and the entire site might be a little 'whacky' for a while.

bigred5765 06-10-2007 11:08 AM

i would still report them to nominet UK as they can still bring charges, because it was your space they robbed and stole personnel info from, its free and cost nothing,

At least there's one good thing about Hostrocket, in that they have a log of the people who recently visited and I can see who ran the matrix.php script to screw up my forum...

Tried that and it bounced so I found their site and mailed them - no doubt they don't care but hey, I tried.

The forum is now on the new server - I don't know how long it will take to fully tranfer for all people. There will be a LOT of broken links for now - I did want to re-do the entire site but I wasn't prepared to wait and be hacked constantly on the old one.

ashleyb4 07-10-2007 08:35 PM

for some reason since the forum has come back up again in the last few minutes when ever i click on the forum link on the top of the page in firefox it wants me to download something but in IE its fine odd just food for thought jimmy. Just thought ide let you know its something to do with the www.oople.com/forums link.

A

jimmy 07-10-2007 09:00 PM

It was some sort of php error, it looks like something got upgraded and introduced some madness.
If you clear your cache it should all work fine now

ashleyb4 07-10-2007 09:03 PM

How do i clear my cache?????

A:wtf:

b4rs 07-10-2007 09:05 PM

i too would support the site but would feel maybe a couple of extras for supporters are needed, like signature features, coloured names like paul rotherum, and i was thinking about like a really small myspace page on your User CP, so yo can find out about people more, like when they started etc. also maybe a star rating against there name. that can be changed if you help someone out? so you know who the 'Real' helpers are on this forum, then at the end of a year small prizes etc lol. sorry migh have got carried away there but its jus a thought. :eh?:

And last but not least, an annual lottery :) 50p - £1 of the subs money goes into a lottery for all subscribing members and random selection chooses the winner :)

jimmy 07-10-2007 09:08 PM

lol, well vBulletin has a new BLOG module and the next version (3.7) has social networking built in - so there's those.. But things like a user gallery might be good.
I'm working on something 'special' though :)

b4rs 07-10-2007 09:10 PM

i got the download error crap wen i tried going to www.oople.com/forums and yeah, how do you delte cache?

bigred5765 07-10-2007 09:48 PM

in internet explorer
tool (top right hand side of the page )
internet options
delet history thats it

jimmy 07-10-2007 10:06 PM

It will sort itself out, but deleting the cache will do it right away. Sorry about that - I just looked and my old server was just hacked again :p Even though the domain is now pointing here, just goes to prove it's hostrocket that were getting hacked, not me.

bigred5765 07-10-2007 10:10 PM

what it sounds like there doing jimmy, is using a sql server hack thats getting into the back bone of the server, but hey ur sorted mate, fuk em

c0sie 17-10-2007 10:36 AM

Woohoo..its back :)

jimmy 17-10-2007 10:37 AM

web hosts are awesome things! I'm sure I'll get a mail sometime tomorrow saying my site is back up now... yeah thanks! :wtf:
