You must make sure that the chassis is for either a mk1 or mk2 chassis as if you sell it without that then someone will be unhappy if its wrong.

Mk1 has a bigger motor space and smaller top deck where a mk2 has a smaller motor area and longer top deck. Mk1 is the better of both as its a better all rounder compared to the mark2

kek23k 12-01-2010 10:43 PM

Damn that looks good! Who's got a zxr they can sell me cheap?:thumbsup:

I also quote Isobarick, I think that both chassis are made of FRP, not the same kind but however a sort of FRP.

You (and all other guys) can see the law-3 is here:

It might be FRP like you say, but what it is for sure, is twice as stiff. I don't think I will use it in the rebuild, I'm going with what looks estetically the same as the original mk ll chassis.

kek23k 13-01-2010 12:25 AM

It looks a bit like the graphite chassis that Losi used to use on the old jrx, kind of frp/graphite sandwich. This is why it will be much stiffer and also the finish is different.

Welshy40 13-01-2010 07:23 AM

FRP or GRP with a coloured coating. Same material as the schumacher procat.

Another update ;) !!!

The rear shocks are definitely not as in good condition as the front ones, the gold anodization is gone where the shock body hit the spring.

However tonight I will try to fix also this problem :thumbsup: !!!

I had the same problem, the springs always curve when compressed. Put piece of clear tape around the shock body for protection because it will happen again.

Thanks for the advice, I will consider using the tape on my runner ;).
And about this car ... no one will be allowed to compress any shock :D !

Some new electronics in order to look a little the transmission and the steering :).

Yes, the servo is new, but is a standard one. Not really good for racing, but perfect for the shelf :woot: !!
The motor (new) is not really as old as the car, but its gold color match pretty well the shocks :thumbsup:.

The car is not complete at all, however .... :wub

Get some nice yellow 2.2" wheels on there and you are done :D

Welshy40 23-01-2010 12:16 PM

Dont forget battery straps as well.

Ema 25-01-2010 12:39 PM

Guys you are right ... It's time to bump this thread a little :thumbsup: !!!

@kek23k
Here's what you asked for ;) !!!
It's really weird that kyosho still has these parts in stock :woot:, yes, the new wheels are a little more fluorescent than the older ones, however they are ok.

@Welshy
I became crazy to find the battery post ...
The problem is that the Zx-r MkI had one of the worst battery post ever (snap type), so everyone will switch back to the standar Zx ones (clip type).
Probably in the nintes there were a lot of battery post in each bin near each track, but finding them now it is really an impossible task.
However at the end I was really lucky to find them from a guy in France :thumbsup: !!

Welshy40 25-01-2010 12:45 PM

Yes i remember trying the snap ones and ended up throwing them in the bin as they were rubbish. I stuck with the zx ones as they were simpler to use and took a hammering.

kek23k 25-01-2010 05:48 PM

I switched to using the cat type after a brief stint with velcro. I remember the zxr ones being pants though, still gotta keep it authentic :D

Nice wheels:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

moth898 28-01-2010 11:31 PM

Do you have any more pics with wheels and body?

Not really, unfortunately I have to wait the body repro from Kamtec :(.

However I will show you the last two missing items :thumbsup:.
I kow you will probably be a little jealous of my LA-35 .... however you got a super rare and expensive new OT-93 by flirting with Isobarik and that is defnitely a good thing ( I'm talking of the bumper :woot: :woot: !!).

I haven't recieved anything from isobarik yet, maybe I didn't go far enough:blush: but ther will be no more of that....my wife wasn't too amused.

I got a body from team bluegrove and even though it was well made I'm hoping kamtec makes it with thicker lexan, blue groove's is a little on the thin side.

I'm done with my rebuild too, the only things I still need are the bumper front wheels and :drool:gear cover:drool:. I changed two things fron the original that,in my opinion, mke a real difference. I changed the turnbuckles out for lunsford punishers, and I installed one other super rare item that I haven't seen anyone have. I might just show it with some new white rims I ordered.

Later,
Bill
