Wish I had waited now before I got the XX4 that looked the muts a few questions.

Who will be the distributer (bad spelling)

Will spares be available

Can you fit a brushless in it.

How much is a XX4 worth :)

Lee Martin 16-04-2007 09:09 PM

lol...

for now it will be sold directly...and spares wil be carried by shops, the main one being the race place.

yes you can fit a brushless in.

sell the xx4 before too many people get wind of the Aero!

then it will be worth more!!!

hehe

Looks cool lee. Good luck with 2007 with it. By the sounds of it and the way it performed at tivverton it should be ace for the rest of the season.

:) It appears to be true that all good things come to those that wait!
I'd seen the Durango a little while back and I was bitterly disappointed that you couldn't buy them. I'd been mulling over whether I could justify the cost of an S4 each for my son & I and then I saw this. Guess I'll be having to do some more overtime at work now!
Will there be a version available with the aluminum parts or will they be available as hop ups?
:)

Lee Martin 16-04-2007 10:11 PM

upgrades will be available.....

unsure on what aluminum parts will be on the car yet. have to ask Mr Aero

Aero Racing 16-04-2007 10:18 PM

There will be upgrades / hop ups but first we will sort out the "standard" boxes. Next step will be alu-parts or coloured parts. Can't give you a date on that for the moment. Most important thing is getting the boxes ready asap.

Cooper 16-04-2007 10:19 PM

what is the connection with Belgium?
just the company that will make the "Durango" for Gerd is located there?

German designer, Belgian factory and UK (lee), German (Jörn), .... team drivers ? :)
Yihaa, multicultural!

Lee Martin 16-04-2007 10:24 PM

as far as i know gerd has nothing to do with Aero.

Aero is new and has all in house designers, molders and team members...

right bob?

Aero Racing 16-04-2007 10:27 PM

thats right Lee. It's a new company who does everything inhouse

So some kind of belgian copy brand?

Sorry, just kidding! :D

Seriously, how dod you manage to get hold of a Durango to dublicate it? I always thought Gerd loves to be an underdog waiting for the one big deal with AE, Losi or someone else.

Cheers

Seb

Aero Racing 17-04-2007 07:12 AM

First of all it's not a dublicate! The concept idea is the same but the car will be in graphite with alu parts . Secondly we've made a lot of changes to the car, the steering is different, major changes to the geometrie (front and rear) etc...
But we don't need to defend anything I guess, we bought the rights on the car and used the concept, quite simple:)

We talked about the idea with Gerd and if he was interested selling the designs, he agreed. That's how it all started...

Sebastian 17-04-2007 07:21 AM

Hi!

I just read about that in Jimmy's Tiverton report. ;) Thanks on clarification. Any plans of making Gerd's 2WD "Plan-B" also? Or will you have your own design?

Cheers

Seb

Aero Racing 17-04-2007 07:29 AM

Everything is designed in house, with support of the university. Plans for the future... first of all it's getting this car ready then we'll see what happens or not happens:).

TRF_Tastic 17-04-2007 08:04 AM

First of all congrats on the win at Tivvy, bloody good job!

Second of all congrats on such a superb looking car, with some very nice and neat little touches.

I do have a couple of questions though.

1. Will a standard size servo fit in the car, or is it low profile only?

2. How will the torsional rigidity be affected by the change in chassis material or will you be using a top deck to enhance this?

Other than this 10/10 for a top effort and I wish you all the best of luck with the project and the future.

_sleigh_ 17-04-2007 08:12 AM

Another question after looking through Jimmy's excellent photos.

What are the dimensions of the area where the speedo fits?? Will the new chassis allow for larger speedos?? It just looks tight with Lee's Novak GTX.

wrighty 17-04-2007 08:18 AM
