EOS finals I think should be as geographically central as pos to reduce travelling times for the majority. I think some very good drivers omit themselves from the national series due to the distances involved, but would do the EOS finals if they didnt have to travel long distances. I think travelling further for Nationals should just be expected. Only my opinion of course

The trouble is, the basic Eden Park track is showing its age. If it weren't for the original high-quality build back in the early 90s (?), we would never have been able to clean it up again for racing. When I first started, the straight was considered a long one and the small double that is now a tabletop on the far left hand side (from the rostrum) could only just be cleared in one if you had a run up simply because we didn't have the power.

Now we have to run the longest tracks as per BRCA recommendations and even then we are down to 23 seconds or so because of the high speed and grip.

We do hope to make some small changes over the winter though although the basic layout will remain.

what about the Proline dirt arena a totalaly different track to all the grass and astro around and about and its indoors?

GRIFF55 24-09-2009 06:44 PM

Is it long enough? it looks a bit short from the vids.
I agree that the EOS's should be located centrally for all to get to easily.

National wise, I prefer the 'all weather' tracks....just for that reason really. I hate racing on mud, which is all that happens when grass track get drenched.

How about having the EOS's indoor?, somewhere like MK?

Battle_axe 24-09-2009 07:08 PM

it is quite short but i think the track has allot going for it in its differance from the rest

Hi all
Everyone has opinions and most of you are right in one way or another .....
In my opinion from someone that has organised meetings in the past is as follows.....
Clubs should put in effort to support the travelling racers AND do something to promote our sport.
In my opinion and I stress it's only my opinion so please don't jump down my throat....
My priority would be to promote the sport or in other words where the public is - places like EPR - Southport automatically come to mind.....

a) I think EPR and Oswestry did a fantastic job in promoting our sport to the degree that I know there are new racers at EPR because of the National there. I also saw papers advertising the Oswestry National and that is great as well.
b) I think EPR and Southport were the best prepared tracks this year and everyone could see the massive efforts the clubs put in.
c) RHR was a great track but I feel they should somehow get more public there - I am sure they can work it out for themselves how!
d) Talywain has a lot of enthusiastic members and I know they want to better themselves but ditto to above and please sort out the straight - apart from that, great....
e) I can't comment about Stotfold, I was away tanning myself but heard good things
f) Personally I like grass tracks but I am very very old fashioned but an astro track has huge weather advantages.

Finally, we all race on the same track and no doubt someone somewhere will have an advantage....if we all agree with this comment then lets concentrate in promoting our sport through our Nationals (and regional) and make it grow even bigger

My vote would be where there is public to see it all happen
Regards to all

The local track knowledge part of this thread is quite amusing!!!

There are a number of tracks in the UK where local people will go well, but is this there fault ?????

Kiddy
Stotfold
EPR
RHR
Southport

5 of the best tracks in the UK and all of them have drivers who know there way round pretty well. BUT.... what is stopping you and me going to these places to practice ???????

Over the last couple of years i focused on two tracks that are within 2 hour distances to me, and it paid off.

I personally want to race on the best tracks available and if that means watching someone who knows every bump so be it.. A few years ago Cragg, Bradby etc where travelling around and practicing on most National tracks.. Perhaps that is why they are where they are ???

So as has already been said, what tracks have applied for Nationals ???

Agree on the promotion of the hobby Tony, fresh blood is needed.

The local paper ran an article for the F3's at Broxtowe, I had arranged for the reporter to come down over the weekend as well but the bugger never turned up!

Was in scrutineering over the weekend and we had one father and son combo ask about our club and hobby which can only be a good thing :)

PTRU 24-09-2009 08:06 PM

Tel
as per BRCA rules its ok. Is a short lap time a problem for you the drivers?

Is this keeping you drivers away?

People who have raced at The Proline Dirt Arena seem to have a smile on there faces when they leave and they all seem to come back, I am interested to listen to your thoughts.

We are trying hard to promote the sport in this area to build up the membership generally and bring new people into the sport. This is a one off venue so we are hitting new problems all the time. If there is a problem with the venue that the Bicester Buggy club does not understand then please let us know.

We would never run a national but we could run the indoor finals.

David Church 25-09-2009 05:33 AM

This is supposed to be a thread about what track to have nationals at....not tell us why you dont like a track!

For me there are many great tracks in the UK, and countless hours have gone into the preparation, so in no paticular order. I do also think they are better spread out, 2 north-ish, 2 middle-ish, 2 south-ish, with EOS central-ish, alot of ish's haha

EPR
RHR
Oz
Tally
Stotfold
Southport
kiddy
Brox
Silverstone
