awesome initiative - just linked this thread to the french forums... hopefully the extra jolt of votes will help make Cecil's scale tip the right side of warming up the Porsche!

Keep them coming, I am sending Robin regular updates

mikeyscott 19-10-2009 02:26 PM

I'd rather they didn't as I'd rather the values remain high - no I don't own an old Cat

I had a Procat many years ago

MOGGIE XL 19-10-2009 05:24 PM

Who cares about the value being high.I love these old CATs for what they
are not how much they cost. It's a hobby not an investment.

Just an update guys.

Latest email from the big boss at Schumacher says they will be discussing this at their next engineering meeting.

It would be good to see how an old cat, running modern batts, motors and speed controlers, would perform against the current crop of 4wd buggies. I'm sure that if they were reproduced and spares became available again people would race them, either in a vintage class or up against newer designs.
My son and i have four XL/XLS/PRO cats and have tried them at the local indoor track, they went well, but the lack of easily obtainable spares ment that caution was needed. and yes my son did make it to the A final that night and mixed it with the "big fish in our small pond"..
I hope it happens, and i hope that they start at the begining with the swb (we never had one of those), and then maybe develop the rest of the range.

GRIFF55 20-10-2009 10:56 AM

If the belts were beefed up etc, then i think it would be capable of running up there!! (or is it just my childhood memories taking over?)

super__dan 20-10-2009 10:56 AM

Defo, you're dreaming lad!

Northy 20-10-2009 11:11 AM

My Procat used to go well indoors a York against modern machines :woot:

Have put my vote in. Did the big boss say when their next engineering meeting would be held?

No he didn't.

I'm conscious that I don't want to hassle him too much so will ask again next week ;)

Not only $wd but also the cougar range!

I'd love to see a Cougar 2000 NIB re-release!:wub

Twister 12-11-2009 12:36 PM

Brilliant initiative.. i never jumped on the cat wagon, i went with yokomo and optimas. It would be great to get another chance to drive one of the most sucsesful cars ever. So please mr C  Go for it!

walden 30-11-2009 10:52 AM

Any more news on the horizon

Lonestar 08-12-2009 08:20 PM

As there's more and more vintage racing classes organized around the world, I think there's a potential for these... Currently I race a fire dragon  in the local vintage series, as I need a vintage racer with available spares and re-re's are the pragmatic way to go... but boy if Cecil re-re'ed any of the proposed cars, I'd jump ship in a second!!!

Additionnally, couldn't they just re-re a few of their bodies? I saw pics with the molds in an article from a few years ago... wouldn't take much work to restart the thermoforming machine!!!

C'mon Cecil, you know you want it too!

Paul

Boss

Cecil has retired now ! Robin is the big boss now

It would all depend on if they have all the origional molds and if its possible to use them on the uptodate machinery they have now ! To engineer the molds costs an absolute fortune Cecil told us on a team tour many years ago ! Chassis and ally plates are easy enough ! update a few other parts and it could be possible !

Perhaps they might bring something special to celebrate Phil Booths retirement in a few years !!! We could all buy one and a bit of the wonga goes towards a nice pressy for Phil Perhaps !! :D

i actually hope this dosnt happen coz my wife would kill me as i bought 1 of each LOOOL

ANY NEWS

Has anything been said about a possible re-release yet.If not a full car at least wheels and shells would be nice.

DanB4 28-01-2010 04:24 PM

Sorry all, I failed:

Hi Dan,
We have discussed it and the answer no for now. This project would be quite a big investment because some of the original tooling is no longer useable, or fits machines that we no longer have. We have given priority to new cars which we think will sell better than a re-release.
Regards
Robin

Guess they have been concentrating on the new Cougar and maybe some others?

We tried!

Dan
