Focus DIY are doing generators for £59 think they are 650w. I have just bought a genny brand new from a bloke from work only 650w but tried it today and it will do what i need it to do (one charger and soldering iron and maybe t.he speakers from my mp3 player). Its going to be like nascar at 7.30 in the morning at nationals GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!!:)

ashleyb4 01-04-2007 09:22 PM

What do you lot think of this little genny all its for 2 people charging at about 4 amp and a soldering iron every now and then. It wont have a problem with that will it?????????? It will proberly be easier and smaller than the 2 12v's and it wont go flat.

yeah we have a Kipor 'suitcase' generator that we use, it is super quiet and powered by honda. but they aren't available anymore because only honda had the rights to be making them, so there was a huge court case and all the kipor generators, which did come out of the same factory as the Honda ones got crushed. apparently anyway. heres the link......

kipor do still sell them though but not these specific ones... http://www.peakgenerators.co.uk/index.asp

hope this helps

How's the market for spare parts, do Honda parts fit, do you need spare parts? (as there still seem to be a few on eBay, still thinking bout'one)

mattym0310 02-04-2007 09:29 PM

i dont know, im guessing its exactly the same as a honda one but dont take my word for it:p.

I'm looking for a genny/new 12v for nats, what's the crack with 2 strokes? i've found a cheapish 2 stroke near me, puts out 650w. Would a tank last me a weekend?

super__dan 09-04-2007 10:44 AM

No, not assuming you run it all day or it has a freakishly large tank.

PaulRotheram 09-04-2007 11:14 AM

I'll run it just whilst the racing is on, and itl be off when its over, as in when i no longer need to charge etc etc..

neiloliver 09-04-2007 11:31 AM

Horrid noisey things!

Should be banned at electric meetings. There was life before these things were made so cheap, wots wrong with a 12V and an invertor?

im a grumpy old man at 34 :(

Neil

PaulRotheram 09-04-2007 11:56 AM

find me a 12v that'l last a weekend cheap enough around here and i'd get one.. they are silly money here!!

Spencer Mulcahy 09-04-2007 12:14 PM

I have the same one Paul and I will only be running it for charging so it will only be used every so often and hopeing two tanks will last the weekend. As for the noise everybody else will be running generators so that should not be a problem. I got mine so I dont have to buy a expensive leasure battery and have it run out half way through sunday.:)

DCM 09-04-2007 12:16 PM

just point the exhaust under your car/into a bush, that will muffle the exhaust noise. Under no-load, the gennie will take very little fuel, it is under load the fuel consumption increases.

ashleyb4 09-04-2007 12:22 PM

I dont disagree with generators i just think they should make sure they are not annoying other people because ive been to a couple of meetings where you get ther smoke blowing across and it choaks you. And there ok when there not under to much load becuase its just a constant BBBBRRRRR but then people increase the load to much it starts making a right noise.

At the moment i have a 12v and an inverter.

Also paul have you not got a Car?? And what do youhave in your car a Battery so if your leisure battery goes flat you just charge off your car battery.

but if that goes flat, he has no way of startin the car...so he will hav a long way to walk.:o

tc2k 09-04-2007 12:30 PM

I got a 50ah battery for doing the regionals. Although its only one day, I only need it for batteries and so thats only charging two batteries which means about 8ah used, plenty left. Hwoever, if you runa laptop, discharger, soldering iron etc then you could be cutting it close, then again you could just buy 2 batteries but thatd be about 150£, more than a genny.

mark christopher 09-04-2007 01:18 PM

in the usa they have stck all the gennies in one area and run extrension cables to em, that way the noise and fumes are in one place!
