The GP's are as rare as rocking horse manure. I am informed that the new 4600 is on its way but i have not seen any examples yet. I understand that the 4600 wont have as good rate and voltage performance as the 4300, just higher capacity, so i do wonder what the point of it will be, we dont need capacity, we need high voltage and longer cycle life.

Prices are going up too. The price of nickel has gone through the roof over the past few months and all the major cell manufacturers are putting up cell prices. I expect to see a price hike when i place my next bulk order.

I do have stock of IB4200 cells and these are on my site.

I see the Vapex cells are now legal also. I tested some as samples and the 4300 badge was more like 3700 in testing.. and the samples arrived with cracked sleeve which was way too think for RC car racing... impressed I was not.

GP4300 Problems

Guys,

Maybe I have been unlucky, but...

I bought 4 packs of batterys at about christmas time, all from team orion, two sets of gp4300, and two of ib4200.

Well, only 4 months later, the IB's work fine (fingers crossed) I don't have an equaliser but do use a discharger, and the 4200's still put @4000 in on a charge.

The GP4300's I am lucky to get 3000 into, and have had them dump using 19turn if I don't peak them less than an hour before I run, I have found them a nightmare!

Hence I tend towards IB, as all my packs were from the same source it was the cell which was the variable. Has anyone any idea if I am missing a trick here?

Also, on a nearly related topic, what is the best equaliser tray to go for??

Have you got a dead cell check the voltage across each cell.

What sort of amppage are you charging at etc

GP Issues

Hi,

I haven't tested individual cells but will do this.

I tend to charge at 5 amps but sometimes when running 19turn I try 7 amps.

I'm guessing that is too much ampage for the battery's, I try to avoid it!

i would only go to 5.5 amps if pushed for time at a meeting:wtf: unless you like frying eggs on yours lol;)

I have only ever used the IB 4200`s as they are a better cell, they have more voltage and are a more consistant cell if treated right
