The raised spring cups are indeed to give you a greater range of adjustment, you can get away with the standard ones but you will be right at the bottom of the threads ;)

I noticed that when I started learning about suspension setup and ride height.

My BJ4 came equipped with truck blue front springs - they work well, actually (on astroturf), so I just got a complete set of truck fronts to experiment with. A friend with a Tamiya 501X also liked them so much, I gave him the original pair.

Edit: Turns out they aren't truck fronts - truck fronts are way longer. No idea what they are, now. BJ4 stock springs, perhaps.

Agree have been running them since the B44 came out. It is a good choice. Besides you can adjust position on the upper link (something the BJ4 cant) @ the C-hub.

I have a lot less slop now since i skipped my Blue parts

You just need #9720 for the caster blocks #9722 for the steering blocks #9641 for the bushes and #9751 for the crush tube. Assuming you have some screws and ball studs to assemble it.

Here's a link to an exploded diagram of b44.

I just learned last night that the BJ4 uses TC3 diff cases - they have a JConcepts part number though because they have to be modified by JConcepts. Is this mod doable with a bit of dremel work?

Richard Lowe 04-03-2010 09:01 PM

Not easily as it has to be pretty accurate, you might get away with doing the back but the front has an angle to fit the kickup.

I made a simple modification to my old BJ4 WE, meaning I could use the B44 steering assembly. This removed lots of the slop from the steering.

It was really easy to do, just used a cone shaped grinding tool on the dremel on the top deck until the holes were big enough for the B44 steering assembly.

anyone know if the front shock tower fits from the b44 to a BJ4

crewie 23-03-2010 07:05 AM

Its not a straight fit but you can drill the holes to make it fit I believe.

Yes you can but as Dave says you have to re-drill the mounting holes for the top deck. I run a 4mm thick BJ4 tower on my B44.

not sure if is on here but the front drive shafts fit from the B44 to the BJ4WE.:D

Does anybody know if there is a direct fit for the rear and front axles (BJ4WE) from another car?

The axle has no partnumber for its own.
I have some bones and CVD repair kit at spare, but no axle.

Or do the comlete CVD front and rear fit from another car?
Do the CVA from B44 fit?

I bought a B44 CVA kit for that purpose. I believe it does - Richard Lowe has commented on it, somewhere.

andreasH 20-04-2010 01:09 PM

I think the Rear Axle could be from Asso B4/T4 (AE-9598) because the Rear Hub Carrier is Asso AE-9584.

The B44 front CVA would be an option if they were a direct fit.
But I dont want to buy 2 whole CVA's when only one axle is broken.

I'm not sure with the Front Axle.
If someone knows which fits please tell me.

Richard Lowe 21-04-2010 07:52 AM

Hi guys :)

The front axle is from a XX/XXX4, not sure of the part number but if it fits either of those cars it will fit the BJ4.

The rear axle is bespoke to the car, although a B4 one will fit and this is something I put on mine as an upgrade. The drive pin is drilled a little bit further out on the B4 axles which lets you use the blue cone washer so you can tighten the wheels without worrying about bending the drive pin or binding the bearings up.

The B44 CVA's are a direct fit front and rear, but like the B4 rear axle the B44 CVA has it's pin further out so you will need to use a cone washer too.

Thanks for your reply Richard.
That's what I wanted to know.
Still love my BJ4WE :D

FYI, there is no way of buying the front axles on their own, DMS confirmed this for me recently who is the MIP importer and Losi specialist.

B44 motor mount

Does anybody know if the B44 motor mount fits the BJ4WE? I would like to get the new one from Associated as I am fed up with my motor moving!
