It's the best buggy I've driven on kit settings. Anyone could throw it down and make it work.

But he has seen my driving lol :blush: It made me look "half" decent lol - And after a few teething problems with my Servo, I really enjoyed the out of the box set up. Just a few tweaks, especially with the push on the front but this is more than likely going to replace my YZ-2 as I was very happy with it (once I get Jim to get the setup sorted :woot:):p

I've run mine twice now indoors in carpet / slippy floor and i'm very, very happy with it.
I have had a lot of cars - as I just like toy cars - but it's rare to have a kit that just works out of the box. As said above - build it kit - race it and be competitive.

Losi have a really great kit on their hands here.

Thinking of getting a 22 but was wondering if a laydown box was going to come our as an option?

After watching a couple at our track wet Astro over the past week looking at the grip level they had I don't think a laydown may even be needed.

The laydown box (as on YZ2) is for when the grip is high. I have a B5 with a 3 geared box and that works fine in the wet but is not as good as the KF or YZ when it's dry.

I wonder whether the great performance on wet astro, due to the more traditional mid motor layout of the Losi, is going to work against it on high grip dry astro in the middle of summer when the car with laydown gearboxes (YZ2, XB2 etc) are going to have an advantage?

It is all small %s of difference so possibly not that important at my skill level but can imagine the fast guys are going to want the option of a laydown gearbox for the summer.

Have to say I haven't heard anything but praise for the car so far. Maybe my nightmares of TLR cars after the 22.4 can be laid to rest!!

At first I wasn't expecting much from the 22 3.0 but so far the car appears to be very well received. I understand it's likely to perform better in the wet (comparatively) but that type of safe planted rear is what I personally like in a 2wd. Currently I'm running a KF2 all year around on outdoor astro which is certainly a lot better in the dry than the wet.

So I'm thinking this new Losi is going to be a better compromise running one car all year around. :thumbsup:

I am not sure if the laydown gearbox is the best solution on a car that has not been designed for it in the first place. On carpet, my B5M worked great with the Redworkshop gearbox, on our high-grip outdoor track (Panik Team Troisdorf), the rear end would always become loose in some shady parts of the track due to the rear shocks being located behind the shock tower. Also, it was not so good over some of the jumps...
When I got the chance to try a YZ-2 with a less than perfect set-up and an old 13.5 motor in blinky mode, my lap times were instantly better than the best I had managed to achieve with the low rider and a 7.5 turn motor. Quite a few racers in my club (including me) have switched to a YZ-2 meanwhile, and all of us are running the shocks in front of the tower.
I've been told that the 22 laydown gearbox is not that far away, but I am not fully convinced yet that it will be better on our track vs the 3-gear standard car. It might be better than the B5M due to a one-piece aluminium chassis and maybe a better steering geometry, but only time will tell.

I've just finished building my car was a nice build and the shocks are some of the best quality I've built yet. Sat on the table the suspension feels nice on kit settings. Question for those that have run the car indoors on a low grip surface what springs and oils are you running?
I will be running at chadderton this Sunday on a low grip rubber floor.

Only thing is the car can push on a bit as the rear seems to just not want to let go - I would be tempted to run some weight in the front of the car - or be ready to try the VLA on the front arms if you find steering initial input lacking.

I've got kit springs with 25wt all round - kit pistons at front may give too much pack and i'm going to go to a bigger hole when I can get some pistons.

But - run the car kit - get it level on the bench, you will be impressed. Have some weight to hand for the front if you need it. Run a shortie Lipo - positioned forwards with foam to rear.

Chadderton isn't really that low grip - i'm sure the car will be awesome there.
