Some old motors.
In the first picture there is a pair of MG's - the one on the left is an original Epic can and the one on the right a HPI can.
Next is a LRP which used a Sagami can - it is a Yellow E 1/12th wind.
The third is a Kisbey HPI modified (slightly different can/endbell to MG) and an Air Supply based Cobra.

This is my oldest motor. Reedy stock motor based on the old Igarashi can. Uses not M3 but 4-40 screws.
I bought the motor when we visited the UK and wanted racing with Nick Adams at the Ally Pally club. From my memory this was 1982.

I also have some Losi Revolution motors from 1987 and some Demon motors Green dot 19T Quad from about 1985.

Another old motor is an AYK based Trinity motor what was used in the Demon MF1 and AE RC12i car so this age.

Anyone remember the Futaba escs when they first came out? Case was shaped the same as a servo so it would sit where ever the wiper-blade speedo servo would normally sit with the heatsink sticking out the top to cool mosfets. Very well built, never went wrong. Also loved my nicad charger with mechanical timer and ammeter...

Actually love reading this vintage forum, brings back awesome memories!

Bought the same in 93 when I started out in RC. Managed to melt the blue heat shrink from it with a 10T BR motor and over geared. No longer have it though.

Any speedo with a relay has reverse.

RudolfXC 11-06-2011 01:48 AM

Does anybody remember the Tekin 410K keypad speedo that played a tune through the motor when you switched it on?

Sorry that´s wrong. Before the FET transistors were used there were several ESC what used a relay for full trottle position for reducing voltage drop at the ESC powerstage. These were called Turbo ESC sometimes.

Yes, sorry you are right.

Demon made a speedo using a standard transistor which got you to about 80% and then switched in the relay for full power. Also, I think some old speedos used a relay for the brake.
