I run a car at Garforth it's an old TC3. I find that the car is still quite competitive. My radio gear isn't up to much either.

I'm not as fast as Bally, Buzz, Guy, Jonny, Mick or Binns but that might not be just down to the car. One crash/spin can make the difference between A final and B final (last time I was bQ) and that was all down to my driving.

IMHO any car will be good for Garforth even second hand ones. Any 19t spec motor will get you round also. The best gear doesn't always win races.

The racing is fast and cheap. One set of slicks will last ages, upto a year so I've been told.

Visit the new web site (by Jonny Aird) http://www.gtcc.me.uk/ for race dates!!

Cheers

Brett

P.S. I have a Reedy Quad Mag 19t Spec up for sale. (Used 3 times!!) only £10. See me at York on Saturday or at Garforth the week after.

wishbones, yep, even the uber hard ones, hubs, erm yep done them, and hub carriers are ali, but I think I may have bent em, the CVD's bend too. Also, if you are looking for a good 19t motor, check out team screams vast selection, they rock:eek:;)

What are the difference between short and long arms ? I mean, do the short ones make the car narrow ? (surely not) and whats it come with ?

p.s. my choice of car isnt entirely in my hands

BenG 29-09-2006 09:46 AM

oh right, I get ya matey. Erm dunno bout long/short arm thingy's. I guess it would prabaly adjust wheel base and not the track.

If you need an RDX, I have one for £150, I will strip it down for ya and clean it, but set-up for GTCC is mint, as it was set-up by twice BRCA champion Gary Marsden . Thats with some spares, like belts e.t.c , and a tyrc racing bodyshell:D

jimmy 29-09-2006 10:12 AM

I dont need an RDX since one might be winging my way, so thats why I said I dont really have an option as such, not that im that bothered, im sure its a good car even if its a bit weak, i will just have to be gentle!:p

BenG 29-09-2006 10:14 AM

yeah, dont get me wrong, it is a great car if you can stop it breaking, I wish I could keep mine really.

DCM 29-09-2006 10:18 AM

if they are short (narrow track) then it makes the car a little more agile, Tamiya doa similar thing.

bally 30-09-2006 09:13 PM

I ran a RDX for a while and i have got to say it was superb just a little delicate!!!

Nearly all the cars now run the same geometry (Cyclone style)

As has already been said the tyre to use is the LRP 24R they will last you atleast 10 race meetings

Just so you all know i ran a Yokomo BD at the last meeting and it didnt feel any different to a T2 Tamiya or Cyclone to drive so i guess its just down to what colour ali you want!!!!

T2 Gearing.

Chaps.

The TR2 manual gearing chart means nothing to me !
What pinion should I use witht he kit spur and a 19t Spec motor ?

Cheers. Andy.

Andy, is it in rollouts? I am also unsure of this, I just made a random guess which was ok.

bally 02-10-2006 07:20 PM

andy gear your motor at around 7.0 overall (spur/pinion x internal ratio think it is 2) my motor is geared at 6.5 but it gets very hot and needs a skim before the final!!

I now have the new still rdx wishbones in stock they are twice as thick as the old ones so i guess they will be super strong!!!!

Rick 02-10-2006 07:52 PM

Hi Andy

I believe the kit spur is 84t, 48dp, thus

20t pinion = 7.14
21t pinion = 6.80

Although we run 7.5, which would be a 19t pinion, but who are we to disagree with Mr Ball, he is the man to beat at Garforth

Our T2 gives a chart showing both FDR & Rollout. We will not be at GTCC this weekend but should be there next time, I will let you have a copy of the sheet

Good luck

Rdx Fragile

:flower: Hi All, I have a RDX thou I have not raced it yet. What I would like to know is what parts do I need to keep as spares. I intend to put on the "NEW WISHBONES" all round plus the "ALI FRONT HUBS". Can you advise me of any other mods to do to improveit.
GOOD RACING,

MARTIN

bally 03-10-2006 10:03 AM

hi, all you need is ali front hubs and ali steering arms give u much more feed back and make the car easyer to drive i would also buy a black spring kit. do not buy a spool as it makes the car undriveable!! another good thing to buy would be some better turnbuckles as the std ones are a pain to alter.

jimmy 03-10-2006 10:10 AM

Do you bring all your bits to Garforth bally ? I dont even have a car yet mind! haha

bally 03-10-2006 01:19 PM

yes i bring most popular parts with me for Xray, Associated, Yokomo, Hot Bodies and Corally cars as well as tyres and motor brushes

ashleyb4 03-10-2006 05:51 PM

The best tyres and addative you can have are Cs22 pre glued and corraly jack the gripper.
