Sorry for the late reply I have just come back to the computer. It was set up using the 3rd profile "Off-Road" but I forgot to change the motor timing from Low 2deg to the normal 4 deg. This would have made the motor faster on the straight I thing it could have gone higher maybe 6deg as it was coming of cool and it was pretty warm on Sunday. I was running it in my X6 but I have made a bracket for a cooling fan on the motor so that helps a bit. I was running 19t pinion on an 81 spur with the 6.5 motor.

Spencer Mulcahy 12-06-2008 10:20 PM

ashleyb4 12-06-2008 10:22 PM

Yup i have to agree with spencer dms racing are ace but lots of other shops also have accounts with horrizon such as microtech racing mk racing and dc racing so they should all be able to get them.

Losi 6.5 motor geared on 25/78 7.58 overall ratio
Spencer's on 11.08 (X6 internal @ 2.6)
Tyreman's on 7.58 (xxx xr internal @ 2.43)
(if the xxx-cr is 2.6 that comes out @ 8.11)

Now thats a big difference in ratios for the same motor:o

super__dan 13-06-2008 08:28 AM

Yeah Spence on a Novak 6.5 I'd be on 23*78 which though I don't have the ratio to hand is effectivly 5 pinions up on what you had it on (no idea of motor charateristics though). Defo get another 2-3 teeth on it I'd imagine with no danger.

Lee 13-06-2008 08:37 AM

Wow dan i didnt realise you were that high, im only running 22/81 on the x-6.

i think i can gear up a touch then

8.82:1, but is that on the regular or light motor?

my 7.5s (14mm rota) on the same so think I'll try one tooth more on the LRP

that'll be 8.45:1

Spencer Mulcahy 13-06-2008 10:01 AM

Cheers Dan that will be why it had no go on the sraight will sort the timing and gear up, it will be a rocket ship.

That's on a Novak 6.5L, note the characteristics of that are different to some of the other motors either 6.5 or 7.5's. But both you and Spence should be able to go a bit higher without worrying too much.

Actually Losi motors are sintered aren't they?

Spencer Mulcahy 13-06-2008 12:29 PM

Yes they are Dan I think that they are very simular.(sorry about the spelling)

Gnarly Old Dog 13-06-2008 01:04 PM

In my X-6, I run the LRP 6.5T with the 12.5mm sintered rotor and it's geared on 22/78.

Reckon you've definitely got a few pinions in hand Spencer:woot:

Thanks for the info regarding the timing etc.
I'm gonna try the off-road profile but possibly up the timing to 6 deg for my X5 - reckon on gearing approx 18/108 or 17/104 to give around 11:1 ish with the 6.5 Losi.

ashleyb4 13-06-2008 01:25 PM

just ordered mine.

Anyone tried sensorless version? I have one on the way (with car - used stuff from USA).

Kopite 13-06-2008 03:05 PM

i've whacked up the timing on my LRP 6.5 to about 6 and the top end is insane

DO IT:woot:

Hi, I'm new to these forums.

Is the Xcelorin low enough to fit in a XXX-CR?

Seems that a lot of speedos with fans are too tall for the XXX-CR buggy. I'll be running stock (13.5) at club meets. Any idea if it would be safe to run the ESC without the fan?

jimmy 14-06-2008 12:02 AM

Danny McGee tried it in his XXXCR at the last National

I'm stumped. How did he get it to fit?

I just tried fitting a block of wood into my XXX-CR that was of similar dimensions to the Xcelorin. There is no way I could get the body on, regardless if the fan is installed or not.

I guess he's either running a different body or cut a whole for the ESC to stick out of.

ashleyb4 14-06-2008 10:06 PM

I got mine today whoo havent tried it yet bbut i have fitted it to the car. Im highly impressed with the quality of the finish of the motor and the quality and top service dms and thanks for the stickers.

The sensor lead is huge i could almost run it all around the car.
