Indeed, Nathan told us that he had a mcs-gearbox for someone but he didn't knew who it was for.
Maarten, on the other hand, bought a vega instead ... and drove it this weekend. He admitted that he felt the mcs felt great and had a bit more steering then the vega ... but I guess he also lost confidence in the car.
Then ... I suppose that Nathan could pass this gearbox to me, then?

As I had to replace one of my idlerwheels, and used my last one ... I bought some vega-idler-wheels who supposedly (dixit Lewis) are stronger then the original Kyosho ones.
I'll give them a go and let you know if they are indeed better ... and still don't ''eat out'' the main-shaft.

help

I need a new pinion shaft asap, Have ordered the parts from je spares. currently not in stock.

Dufty07 19-02-2011 08:35 PM

All done!!!

O.K the parts arrived 2day:D(a BIG thanx to J.E SPARES..leg-ends):wub
So I have got Mr Simon Watson to build it, as he never had any problems with his fabs mcs g-box. So inside now are brand new shafts and gears, all nice and not worn, dab of glue on the ends and ta-dah!!!:woot:...Will build it up at stottfold 2moro, and give it a go......wish me luck....

Rebelrc 20-02-2011 09:01 AM

What needs glueing?
Inside the gearbox?

Rebelrc 20-02-2011 10:17 AM

I take it you need to reduce some slop ?
If so have you tried using some ptfe tape (plumbing) around the shaft ends
As this works quite well for packing bearings
Cheers:)

SimonW 20-02-2011 07:08 PM

The idler shaft holes in the gearbox are a bit of a sloppy fit so with the addition of enough CA glue to fill the sides as you push in the shaft and not spill out and glue the bearing once set it is more brittle than PTFE and should stop any slop, it worked for me.

not yet

Did not get the chance to test it 2day, but its all built up now so will pop up somewhere mid week n test it ready for maritime on sat.....

Dufty07 24-02-2011 06:45 PM

GUTTED

Finaly had d weather to test it... and after 3 mins the sound of gears mushing together:cry:
Thats it 4 me, it was all new bits, well built, but eat itself after no time, LOVE D CAR so will shelf until u get some new g-boxs fabs... But 4 now its back 2 the reliable old rb5 with d motor out the back........

hello fabs, some news for gearbox:confused:

Lowie 28-02-2011 06:05 PM

I have some details about that kit that I bought from Maarten, Fabs.
I studied the gearbox some more and discovered that the complete gearbox is slightly bent. Remember mine? Well his is twice or more bent.
Strangely, the two parts still fit together like a glove ... so I have only one explanation: the gearbox has been to hot and has bent while being mounted.

Anyway, it is a bit too crooked to try to fix it, i guess. I'll wait for the new gearboxes too.

monassos 02-03-2011 10:58 AM

I have the same probleme & I run 5 time of 6 mn

fabs, the car is very good for drive but make a new gearbox

JustARcFan 02-03-2011 11:57 AM

Maybe he can go knock on the door with Atomic Carbon.

You should see the new gearbox from the TRF GTO

Fabs 02-03-2011 01:01 PM

AC doesn't make any parts, and their subcon, which I know, can't make the gearbox. period.

I'm still working on a solution but for now all the tracks i've followed have been either too expensive or have proven to be dead end with people already overworked.

mattb 02-03-2011 02:36 PM

Is there no way you guys could make some kind of bush to fit into the origional gear box the fix the problem??

Fab - would you like me to have a chat with Lewis to see if he will make you some gearboxes at reasonable money??
The Vega gearbox is state of the art......

Fabs 02-03-2011 03:04 PM

No and No

Rebelrc 02-03-2011 03:13 PM

Ali box, fabs!
Should be cheaper than molding as you have drawings
Do you want me to make you some? To your drawings.;)
How many we talking?
Cheers mate

Fabs 02-03-2011 04:25 PM

I'm waiting for some more replies, have faith I'll get it all sorted

CF incomming & the 1st is on carpet : the grip'll be hard for the gear-box...
hopin' for a new one too. but you know that...:D

@ the last race mine (1 idle gear as "usual", the second one for me) break down just when i was first on (a) qualif' :(
if it's appends a second time (be 1st in any run, miracle!), i don't want to loose because of that.

so i've glued the shaft and will not run till Merlevenez to increase his durability:lol:

new gear-box! new gear-box! new gear-box!!!!

bye!

Fabs 03-03-2011 09:53 AM

I know the situation and I'm doing my best to get them out ASAP.

Now oOple isn't a claims board and if you have an issue I invite you to contact me in private.

Like I said as soon as the boxes are here I'll let everyone know, please be a little bit more patient.
