cheers m8 - no problem, gave up worrying about anything the day the last of my hair turned grey/white ! ! :woot:

I am curious, was involved with the programming of bbkRC (windows version - not old DOS version) from the start, and like to know every quirk/issue/bug/ feature of it.

Pls tell me your ID in the NRCR database (via pm for privacy if you wish) so that I can look in to it. Might be an issue with over 10 cars per final as Ray says, but should not be as bbkRC I believe is written to fully handle 20 cars heats/finals.
cheers -

Thanks again Bill. Dont think we've had over ten in the final mind!
Could you email me back the data file for monday please.

Cheers

Mark

Missed points ?

I agree Marc there hasn't been more than 10 competitors in any final, but what I ment to say was having a number above 10 there was no results showing in the series results.
Sorry if I'm seeming to be awkward. :(

baD 17-12-2011 03:36 AM

series points

I have the answers - as per normal caused by human intervention.

I'll post here, and send the updated results back to Mark over the weekend.

Missed points ?

Thanks Bill, I had every confidense that you would prevail and find the solution to the problem of the "missed points".
There you go Paul, all that was needed was a bit of know-how from one of the senior members of this sport. Long may the "oldies" from the origins of this sport keep their hand in one way or another.

baD 17-12-2011 07:01 PM

It's not a case of keeping my hand in - the wife says I need every bit of mental exercise possible to keep the memory from getting any worse ! ! !

Now, where was I ? - oh yes - series points and bbk.......... zzzzzzzzz

1) In the series there has never been a heat with more than 10 drivers - there have been more than 10 drivers in a Class - see 10/10/2011 TC Class

2) Of the 12 entrants on Rd 1 10/10/2011 only 9 registered in the final - the 3 DNS did not cross the loop - perhaps didn't start or did not complete the first lap - this depends on the position of the loop on the day.

3) I have discovered rounds where 2 drivers has the same points awarded - this is not possible for single leg finals where points are given for final result position - I can only guess that the series points on those occasions were awarded manually and not by using auto update by bbkRC

I have fixed these - by re running the points up date for each round.

4) Rd 8 - 28/11/2011 - Anyone remember running a 2wd Buggy heat? - A series has to apply to a Class, drivers have to run (be booked in) in that class, to achieve points in that class. In Rd8, 7 drivers were booked in to the class entitled Electric 2WD Buggy, for which NO SERIES has been set up. The only Buggy series set up is called 'Electric 4WD' - so those 7 drivers cannot be given points for that round (unless someone wishes to spend a good amount of time re-doing the points for that day manually).
Lesson to be learned from this - if you want to have a 2wd heat, but want to earn points for a Buggy Series, book em all in to the same Class but then sort the 2WD Final heats out later.
or
alternatively, book then in as Heat Class 2WD, but allocate the Final Class as the same as the Series uses (are you all still with me? Can you see what it is yet ? - yes, it's a monster !)

That's about enough for now - I'll re-run the points and re-publish, but those that were DNS will still not appear in the points for that day (and one guy, who was a DNS on one date, who somehow did get points for that day, may lose them - wonder if he will notice ???)

baD 17-12-2011 07:12 PM

P.S.

In bbk series points setup, there is the option to 'allocate' or 'waste' points for drivers who do not appear for the final.

For any series with firm format rules etc (like any National Series) if finalist A10 drops out of the finals, his points, last in the A, 91, get wasted and do not go to the winner of the B final.
At club series where numbers per final vary, depending on the turn out, it is fairer ( I think) to allocate the points instead of Wasting them so that the B finalist get the next possible highest number of points

I have re-set the series set-up to reflect the above.

baD 17-12-2011 07:36 PM

Just to confuse things further

on 28/11/2011 - Although the results show the A Final (Electric 4WD) had 4 drivers, two of them were pulled from the 2WD Class, but left with status of 2WD Class so do not count in the 4WD Series, and of the other 2, one did not start (DNS), leaving only Car 1 to get points in the Electric 4WD series

 :bored: :( :o:woot:

so here we are --> New Updated Results

Ray Mac 18-12-2011 04:55 PM

Top bloke

Hi Bill, you realy deserve a medal for all that work you put in to sort the "fault" plus resort all of the results.
Can you make it for the last meeting of the year ? It would be good to see you before the break in racing 'till next year.
If you can't make it I think I can wish you all the best for Christmas and your New Year from everyone in our club.
Many thanks Ray.:thumbsup:  :)

we dont run 2wd buggies ??? we are all 4wd, so theres still something wrong somewhere, and for the last 6 weeks that i know of we have had over 8 4wd buggies consistantly as we've been running 2 heats....the plot thickens:bored:

mmmmmm ! was it operator error that put them all in the Electric 2WD Buggy class?

If the Race Controller would like to confirm this, I can change the Class and put all the points back in for that date. But is it worth it?

Get together, choose a format for the 'Spring Series 2012' and I'll help set up the program accordingly.

baD 18-12-2011 05:24 PM

Cheers Ray,

love the sport, wish I had more time, and more skill, to enjoy it more, but at least this way I can help ensure there is somewhere to have a blast every now and again.

Best wishes for Cristmas & 2012 to you, the family, and your extended family of the NRCR racers.

Operator error confirmed :-/. (hands being held in the air) Booking in a late arrival I inadvertently clicked 2WD. By the time I noticed the problem there wasn't time to put it right without losing the additional round for whichever class had it that week. Lesser of 2 evils! Only alternatives are
A) Lose a round to allow time time to sort things like this out
B) put up with the odd mistake by me
Or my favourite…
C) Vote in a chairman who knows what they're doing at the next AGM (please!)
Cheers Bill

Not sure if there was a hint of sarcasm in the "cheers Bill", if not, there should have been ! - I didn't mean to hang you out to dry there, I just like folks to know that normally bbk does what you tell it.

If I had a pound for every mistake I have made at race control I'd be way ahead of you in the country's rich list and be able to buy you an indoor venue !
Like a lot of unwanted jobs, the first one to complain gets the job next time around, that's my motto :D

I can't play piano, I can't race r/c cars (not fast anyway) but I can change the Race Class of a whole bunch of drivers in about 22 seconds flat - and fyi you can change the Heat Class or Final Class of any driver at any time in a meeting. I suppose if I had spent as much time with a piano I might be able to play chopsticks by now !

beasty boys motorsport 19-12-2011 01:09 PM

ive learnt my lesson.......i'll keep my mouth shut:woot::lol:

Actually no, cheers Bill for sorting the data file again was what I meant. But now you come to mention it…… ;-)
Good turn out of 20 for the week before Xmas tonight and I'd like to welcome back the grip. Again coinciding with the fire door remaining shut! Convincing win for greg in the buggies with yours truly winning the TC although that may not have been the case but for Phil Haines retiring after winning both qualifiers he raced in absolutely flying on new rubber. All the best to you all. Racing is back on the 9th Jan tho I'll be missing. Also AGM will be on 16th jan-a free nights racing after the meeting as usual. See you all there

lazysurfer 20-12-2011 08:41 AM

Ok guys, I put a short report on oople last night from my phone so here goes with the email
20 racers was a good turn out for the week before xmas - (last year at benton we had 4 and had to run a mixed heat of 2 tc & 2 buggies with no marshals!)
12 TC & 8 buggies so only just enough buggies to split into 2 heats. Also I’d like to say welcome back to the grip which returned in abundance last night for a change. Maybe down to the fire exit not being opened at all?
Anyway, Greg put in a convincing display to win the buggies with yours truly winning the TC’s although that may not have been the case had Phil Haines been able to race the final having won both qualifiers he drove in on new rubber.
Just to let you all know we’re back racing on 9th January when hopefully Scowen or Westy will be there to run the laptop as I’m away snowboarding with 29 others including Hindson who is doing some gay skiing or something!
Also the AGM will be held on 16th Jan after setup so it’ll be a free night racing afterwards as usual for how ever many rounds we fit in. Hopefully the meeting won’t take too long as things seem to be going pretty smoothly at the moment.
Don’t forget, guests are welcome to come along and make suggestions but only members will be able to vote - so if you’re not a member and want to have a say, bring next years subs along with you.
Membership for those who don’t know includes your BRCA and you’ll be entitled to the discounted tyres Paul has sourced.
Oh, and anyone who fancies a go at chairman, please don’t worry about upsetting me by putting yourself forward……….you’ll get my vote!
Well all the best for xmas and new year - see you 16th Jan!

These MIGHT be the final results of the Series, after Rd 11 and manual amendments to Rd 8

Winter Series 2011 Results

If you spot any mistakes, see how long you can keep it to yourself ! :woot:
