Yup cool big time, shame about the car its attached to.

If i get time, i can have a go. I think the easiest option is just get a zx5 hub with 2 degrees and one on the bracket.

Would a ZX-R take the same length shocks front and rear as a ZX-S?

Anyone interested in buying some brand new in the packet 38 and 46mm gold velvet shocks?

1. teh rear shocks for the zx-s are long housing and mediumshaft so they will be to short.

2. are they built ????

They are NIP, see pic below

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps63513974.jpg

So, I had bought the following Short and Medium Twin Cap Pro Shocks, and I also bought a set of Long bodies and shafts, thinking I would build the mediums for the front and then use the long bodies and shafts on the short set to put on the rear

But, from what you are saying I would just build the short ones for the front and then build the medium for the rear but only use the long bodies with the medium shafts

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps468da96f.jpg

So what on earth are the velvets I bought suitable for??

Welshy40 28-04-2013 04:28 PM

Why not measure the bodies against the ones on the ZXS? Then youll know for sure

HKS_TRD 29-04-2013 02:54 AM

The bodies are the same. And both these bodies are the same length as a short gold shock.

With the gold shocks and the equalizers short medium and long had increasingly longer bodies and each one had a longer shaft too, however with the newer shocks it seems they are using a short body and a longer shaft to create a medium length shock.

The ZXR-MKI uses medium gold shocks and has a taller front tower than a ZX-R MKII

I am thinking that maybe I could use the 38mm velvets on the rear of either my tub car which will only run on smooth surfaces or the back of the Mid SE-X but the 46mm are too long for any of my buggies, what on earth are they for?

Not sure if its best to just get the 30mm bodies or try and sell the shocks as they are NIP and start again

Its a long shot but would the shafts from the old gold shocks be compatible with these, I know they are compatible with Equalizers

Hey guys looking at this Lazer on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYOSHO-LAZER...item4d0c3d0b71

It would appear to have the LAW-3 Carbon Chassis and the LAW-9 Carbon upper deck, however is the LAW-9 for the ZX-R or the ZX-R MK2?

The LAW-3 I have seen Vintage Kyosho selling only has two holes to mount the rear bulkhead in the ZX/ZXR location however the chassis on this car has two sets of holes to let you move the bulkhead back a-la ZX-R MK2 does anyone know if maybe like the LAW6 and 7 the LAW-3 changed design later on but kept the same part number?

Anyone got any other observations on this car?

isobarik 05-05-2013 08:13 AM

Looks awsome , always woundered if the law-09 fits the zxr or the mk2

You should zoom in more as youll see its been redrilled like what we did in the early 90's. this was to give both options on mk1 and 2 layouts so didnt need a new chassis so you could fit the mk 2 top deck and L brace and other mods without changing the chassis as a lot of us didnt like the batt positioning on the mk2 chassis.

HKS_TRD 05-05-2013 12:01 PM

Funny you say that James the carbon ZX-R tub I have here has had the exact same thing done to it though in that instance it was drilled originally for the MK2 layout and the battery location IIRC is also MKII.

I know its hard to say for sure but does the weave on the chassis and upper deck look like the Kyosho parts rather than aftermarket bits?

Iso seeing as the LAW-9 is not listed in the MKI manual in the optional parts listing I'd say it probably was for the MKII however its a little puzzling that there would be a MKI carbon chassis and a MKII carbon upper deck, I guess there may have been a carbon chassis for the MKII as well not sure what the part number for that would have been

I'm considering buying this car and giving it a bit of TLC such as all new screws and a couple other things, I already have a carbon MKII motor brace sitting here that I had no plans for, it just came with a lot of parts I bought a while back.
The only other change I'd make to it is the front shock tower, I just like the look of the MKI tower better

Welshy40 05-05-2013 02:06 PM

I can see the holes and do look like a diy job as ive done the same. But looks mint never the less so go for it. The shell looks stunning for a shelf display.
