Hopefully with the clay being delivered tomorrow, me and my trusty spade :woot: should have it all spread, laid and drivable by the middle/end of March.

Nights/Days are still not decided and i will run a vote on what days are best, but ATM im feeling: One Full day over the weekend for practise days and One evening during the week for racing.

__________________________________________________ _____

Got down to the track for a few hours after work today to start laying down the Tarp which the clay will be layed on.
Also as you can see i have started playing around with the tubing (which i will have to lift tomorrow  ) for a layout.
Also got the boards fixed to the wall which will be included in the track as two wall rides, i may however change one of them to a better idea i have in my head. :)
*as a note, the crossover is currently sitting 14" from the floor, i hope thats high enough! and the ply is just laid ontop not very neatly just so i can get a better view/idea. The ply will change to see through material though

p.s. if anyone has any free banners of any companies (be your own comapny or a manufactor) they want rid of, feel free to send them my way :)

Karting 02-03-2012 07:38 PM

Hard, hard day's graft today :)

Got 18tons of a clay mix delivered today for free (even though i personally think it was more!) **Thanks Snowey**
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...w/e7512729.jpg

Then i decided a shovel wouldn't do, so i blagged a free digger for the weekend (my dad said he would have nothing to do with it, but once the digger arrived i couldnt get him off it for hours!
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...w/99ea206a.jpg

After a good few hours, learning how to use a digger and running into stuff we started shifting it around.

Ill be there allday tomorrow to fully move it and maybe start compacting the clay :)

Any questions? lol

Yeah, i knew it would be the case, he has always wanted to drive one. :) Im still undecided on weather it will be too big or too small for 1/10th but my feelings are that they can get around there and be fine.

yeah i know, i was looking at it thinking, fuck me thats alot, but now im starting to think i may need a bit more, but i should know by end of sunday.

Mini digger was always planned but not this early in the stage, i mainly had to get it in for today because the delivery driver dropped a good few tonnes outside the shutter and i needed to get it in so i could lock the unit up.

Need to get a compactor in during the week. To start to actually see where i stand.

More pictures and maybe a video tomorrow :) will be there from 8am till around 3pm so should have it all spread. But for now im le tired

Thank you for your kind words. Hopefully enough people attend to make it worth while.

Got down there today and got all the clay shifted

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...w/2cb67a52.jpg

Then i started to mock out the layout for the jumps. The jumps will be bigger its just so i can figure it all out for now

Your choice would be a Losi mini 8ight, a Carisma GT14b or a LRP Shark all work really well and i personally have a LRP.

Is there anyway you can put this place on wheels and make it mobile. Move it towards, Oh, I dunno, the Northants area just for example.

Looks like it's going to be an awesome little venue. Great work.

martgifford 05-03-2012 03:40 AM

These give me inspiration to build my own track. Looks great fun

Dont do it, it will melt your brain.

Started compacting the clay last night and boy is that going to take longer to do than i predicted (however the big 'feature jump' work well with my 1/16th and 1/10th). I will however get down there weds night to go again

I will post a video next week now as the compacting is taking a very long time now :( will hopefully get a sit on roller soon instead of a wacker plate for next week. Will however say it has opened my eyes on how much work is needed, so i recommend in being very prepared and be concious on how much it will cost to make (ive got very lucky and i know the right people, the wood has all been free, the clay has been free and the digger/wacker plate and also the sit on roller will all be free)

Got another good few hours under our belts tonight (my mate who is helping me will be signing up soon, so i cant take all the credit anymore :) )

After experimenting today with how wet/dry the clay has to be able to smooth the track out we think we have cracked it! :)

These pictures are just the start of the main straight and also shows the banked last corner which will be a good feature i think.

It would be good if a bussiness would sponser him and in return he would name the venue after the company

jim76 15-03-2012 12:16 PM

Can't remember if this was mentioned before, but looking at the recent photos, is it possible to move the rostrum a little to the left so it is more centrally located on the wall? Where it is now, the person standing at the far right would have a harder time seeing the far left corner. If it was more central then everyone should have a pretty good view.
Just a thought. It may just be the wide angle lens making it look worse than it is. Otherwise it's shaping up nicely.

David Church 15-03-2012 02:49 PM

I might be interested in calling it Rc Domination Raceway! I would have to see what it would cost me:woot::woot:

I think its just the style of pictures but i can assure you, you can see the whole track from the rostrum, sadly i cant move it further to the left as then the pillar will start obstructing too much. For the near future it will stay as it is, just till everything else is sorted, after that i will have a full metal framed one made up (got to start practising my welding as havn't done any since i left collage 5years ago)

Looking good dude...much hard work done so far, bit still to go but hang on in there

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but what sort of pitting space/arrangement do you have? Not seeing masses of space around the track itself...or is it deceptive?

Behind the rostrum is a door, which leads to another 150sqm unit with electricity (if you look at second picture from recent post, you can see next to the rostrum there is a Ford Focus, that is infact the other adjacent unit at roughly 150sqm). However there are no plans to introduce perm pitting tables so will be a 'bring your own' jobbie (wont be able to afford rent on two units in London). There are however toilets on site.

I got far too desperate to drive it, so i didnt really finish of what needed doing before i filmed, so there are a few lumps (like the one which throws me into the barrier! :( ) *also excuse the shitty iphone camera*

Youtube video, click here

There is still alot of work which needs doing, but its nice to finally see progress.

The jumps with the boards over are only like that because the jumps wern't finished and like i said, im impatient. The car is my LRP LWB Shark 1/16th with a 1.35t brushless mongoose
