I "had" a Bullistorm 60amp,it blew after about 5 metres in my X6,sent it back(it took about 8 weeks for a replacement),the replacement did exactly the same thing and blew straight away.I then bought a Hobbywing EZRUN 60amp and have had no probs at all.The 2 speedos look identical except for the labels,i`m wondering whether theyre seconds or sub standard ones that have failed quality control ?Just a point of interest,Hobbyking are selling cheap LiPos that are not up to spec but at least theyre honest and advertise them as such.If you have a Bullistorm, good luck they are a bargain price,it will be interesting to see how long they last, cheers PC.

sorry double post-cant delete...

I think HW are a little more tried and tested, the bullistorm are pretty new to the market and have theie hicups.
Chippy what motor were you running? Did you upgrade the software, I think that is a must. So far I haven't had a problem with my 60A running a x12 8.5, but I havent raised all the settings to max, I think atm I would like a little more speed out of mine but a new smaller spur gear and another pinion will hopefully get what I would like. Get the 120A if you can and upgrade the software to v3 |
Running 5.5T,no not upgraded yet,we (my son has the same combo) have plenty of speed, currently its powering a Mardave V12 with 1S so its not really under any strain. But when we go outdoors again - X6 with 2s, I will be getting the professional programme box to unlock the turbo ect, should be fun!!
|
The 60A is only rated for a 8.5T and under so yep a 5.5T will blow it up.
The upgraded software will help but for a 5.5T I would have at least a 120A if not more. The 120 is for tops a 5.5T |

sorry have to disagree col
i have hobbywing extreme stocks and the are vastly better quality than bullistorm (i have both so feel competent to have an opinion) its like saying a toyota is like a daihatsu or hyundai its just not true there is a quality difference . on the bulistorm the fans dont work unless you plug em in reverse and the solder posts fall out if youre not careful regards dave |
My 120A has been running fine with no issues. Admitedly its not that stressed running a 7.5 in a Cougar 2 which is too much for the chassis, I will probably pick up a cheap 10.5 turn and turn up the boost. But for £30 delivered to my door I dont think its been too bad.
As far as 60A versions blowing up running a 5.5 turn in a buggy then it does say its too much current draw for even a Hobbywing/Speed Passion 60A. The lower prices have got to mean lower quality FET's etc etc so your just pushing your luck even more!!! |
theres no point getting the 60amp when there priced this cheap...
i'll report back once i get my 120a... long as it works i'll be happy |
Would love to hear how they go in a buggy with 6.5 / 7.5 motor
Or even a 13.5 / 10.5 using some of hobbywing stock softwear as i have a hobbywing xtream stock in a wet touring car and its rapid and as people have said it is the same as a speedpassion or the orion R10 speedo. £42 120a posted is a bargin alongs it lasts |

i am more than happy with them for what i paid for them but i wont be surprised if they dont last too long ;) dave |
O no inwas disagreeing sorry I just ment for the money they seems to be very close but apparently the internals are all different and cheaper. And I did find a thread somewhere where a bloke was saying keep well away they very dangerous and blow up lipos but they were not this one admittedly
|
Got mine today,
The Bad:
|
....... sigh, sadly there as good as the money you are paying for it.
Did the software update, but no weird boost settings. The motor was a tried and tested 6.5 Tried it just now, the car sutterd from a standstill and was fine after that. But there was a blink indicating a hallsensor problem in the motor. Strange enough :eh?:, but tried a different motor. Same problem only worse, the car wouldn't drive from a standstill at all, and needed a push start. Tried resetting the throttle positions, and after that the car would launch good just once. After that..........., same problem again  I can still use it sensorless but it's a really bad sensorless ESC respons wise Tried an old GTB and everything was fine with both motors. So if your considering getting one of these.... |
see if you can update to latest hw software it is supposed to help stop speedos dropping into blinky mode
both mine are updated and are ok but i dont push them hard regards dave |
Mine turned up .. powered it up and all seems well .. even the fan works!
Pics .. http://www.pipskiracing.blogspot.com...ain-or-bt.html |
Received mine took about 5weeks.
Not tested it properly but it works... The fan it comes with is poor compared to the speed passion! When you turn the fan upside down it doesn't have enough power to turn.. |
Had mine running a 6.5 in a Cougar SV in unsensored mode with no issues what so ever for a while now. Will probably put it in a Losi 22T when that arrives!!
|
Mine arrived. Everything appears fine but has no drive to the motor. The motor works fine on another Speedo so its not that. Solder connections are good too. Not sure what else to try.
Looks like going in the bin. its only a bargain if it works! |

YOu have lights flashing? servo working? Sensor cable in? Lipo charged? Fan working? Send it to me if your thinking of bining it |
I have all of the above. what else would you suggest?
|
reset and then rebind your radio then rebind the esc and RX
|
Done that. The servo works fine and the lights indicate when throttle and brakes are being applied. I'm stumped.
|
Seems like they don't have any form of quality control going on!!!! Once it's assembled its going out the door regardless........your lucky if you get a good one??!!
|
Check the motor wires are on the right terminals a,b,c..
I'll have it if you bin it  |
If you have a multimeter also check there are no shorts between the connections.
Also check the wire is the correct way round into the receiver. Easily done ;) |
I bought one of these ESCs, but before powering up I took it all apart and checked the assembly.
The PCB itself looks fine, which is to be expected if this is a clone of the Hobbywing design, but the assembly is terrible. I spent a few hours tidying up bits, putting components back on the pcb (one of the 0402 resistors was on sideways!) and cleaning the flux off to try and improve it. The funny part is that on my one they have scrubbed the markings off a couple of the ICs, so are they worried that people are going to copy this copy??! Honestly is it worth it? If it works, probably. If it doesn't you'd have been better off buying a genuine one rather than fixing it (unless you have experience with SMT rework). Either way without the extra work done on it, I doubt it is going to be the most reliable bit of electronics, one hard impact could potentially dislodge a component. Having said all that I'm sure lots of people are using them without any problems. |
I had a 60A in my 2wd with a 8.5t and it wouldn't give the power on the straight I wanted, I have now gotten my 120A back from being replaced, Im going to try that one again, I didn't have power problems with that one.
|
I eventually got round to putting one in a buggy ...
http://pipskiracing.blogspot.com/201...date-test.html So far so good! |

Hi guys
I have one of the 120a versions and it runs fine, I decided to update the firmware so got a Hobbywing box but it doesn't recognise the esc. I plugged it into my sp 2.0 and it works, is it a firmware issue with the box? |
