Luke

i have been told bit later than that

YZ~10 02-04-2008 06:08 PM

fair enough, shame its gonna be that late

HVAC25000 04-04-2008 11:20 PM

It might have been discussed here or elsewhere and I missed it, but what kind of weight are we expecting? With that aluminum chassis, it seems to me it's going to be heavier than, everything else?

Also, anyone seen the actual production model being tested anywhere? in any official races?

Chris Lovely 09-04-2008 07:49 PM

Hey guys,
i'm just returning to the off road scene, and at the moment I race for Serpent with the on road cars.
I've been very interested in the s500, and have sent many emails and have had to reply. The new season is getting very close and nothing has happened, because I would like to know before I go and buy another car.

Does anyone know anything, any help would be much appreciated

thanks
Chris

stegger 09-04-2008 07:57 PM

Chris if you already drive for serpent then you would probably here before us

that CAD drawing must have taken some time :woot:

nice though

V-Rossi 01-05-2008 09:32 AM

This page on Red RC says the sides of the S500 are detachable, but I can't see any possibility to do this on the car:confused:

jimmy 01-05-2008 09:47 AM

I guess they screw on from below? - wether or not they do on that prototype that Gerd hand made in his garage before the show - is another matter entirely.:)

bigred5765 01-05-2008 09:49 AM

look at picture 4 down
its easy to see how it works
a couple of screws and its done

Indeed, my mistake
I'm glad they are detachable, the side plates reduce flex but the car is way more beautiful with the slim chassis.

bigred5765 01-05-2008 09:00 PM

slim wow how thin do u want it
any thinner and it will look like some raggedy ass model

V-Rossi 01-05-2008 09:54 PM

It doesn't look anorexic without the sides I think, as it is a bit wider than the Aero A-One, without them it would be the same, which isn't bad:lol:

Isn't flex an advantage off-road? Same as flex chassis for touring cars on rough asphalt, a flex chassis on a 4wd should help. I thought?

bigred5765 01-05-2008 11:39 PM

i think its ace as is

V-Rossi 02-05-2008 05:49 AM

More flex equals more grip, which isn't really necessary I think (but I'm talking about the tracks here in Belgium). But what do I know, I don't design them, just race 'em :)

mark christopher 02-05-2008 07:55 AM

the one in the pics has white plastics painted black ;-)

That was lucky mate, have your wages gone down by 60% as well

nitrokillah 30-05-2008 07:46 AM

Got a bit of disapointing news from Serpent today:(.

[Ronald Baar] Hi,

The S500 is delayed until end of this year, but production preps are underway.
We are too busy with other projects of S120 ad S240 1st.

Thx for the interest. A pre-order list will not be made. We will make enough of them to meet demand ;)

Ronald

I knew they weren't goning to release it untill after the Euros. But I didn't think they would have delayed it that far. Hopefully they'll release it for X-mas.
"tho I don't think that that is the best of time to sell RC " ( you would think that most people Buy there owne car. and not be offered them as presents.)
Anyway....
Gives us more time to anticipate it's release.

stegger 30-05-2008 07:58 AM

If this is true, GUTTED:cry:

l-u-k-e 30-05-2008 08:09 AM

Thats not much of a surprise if you think about it, it was meant to come out in September and we knew it was going to be delayed, anyway I have given up waiting!!!!

B44&501xRacerEX 02-06-2008 06:09 PM

A guy at the track is thinking about getting one of these.
I guess it looks better than a predator because of the aluminum frame.

Yeah apart from that they are identical

johnboy 02-06-2008 07:45 PM

How cool is that:thumbsup: hope you'll give us all the gen mark when you get back. What else do you use from serpent ?

mes 22-06-2008 06:54 PM

So the S500 will be released fjust in time for LiPos being legal - I really hope Serpent will develop a different chassis in time to match the lower weight of LiPo batteries , otherwise the car might not prove commercially successful... One of the most awaited cars might just be released too late!
