I would think so, just add a rally shell and soften up the suspension a bit, and a set of rally style tyres  not sure what we will be running yet but Schumacher rally blocks are readily available ....

DCM 01-09-2011 08:13 PM

CML do a really cheap set of rally tyres.

The TC3 had a rally kit what you buy seperatley to turn into a rally car, not sure about a kit for the TC4..............

Clioman_2000 01-09-2011 08:20 PM

anyone got any ideas about the TL-01?? Is that easy enough to convert too??

Got one and think there pretty good, simple design easy to fix and cheap for spares :)

peetbee 02-09-2011 03:48 PM

No one's running rallycross yet I'm afraid!

Not sure when we're going to be ready to trial this at the moment as the majority of people are just starting to get organised.
Quick role call of interested people seems to be:
hit5005 - Audi Quattro
peetbee - Metro 6R4
jackor33 - Escort Cosworth
John Howe?? - Focus WRC
Royston - mk1 Escort
mrspeedy - Focus WRC/Impreza
Dyna ?? - 911
Teaboy ?? - Escort
matisse - Impreza
sunbeam - once we get someone to produce a sunbeam shell! :D

I think we should have some rules for this - how about:
1) car must resemble a rally car - no touring car shells!
2) tyres - rally style so that we can have a bit of sideways action!
(Fastrax FAST0074W rally tyres are only £8.50ish for a set of 4 on wheels
http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/cml_product.php?productId=0000006205)

Also dependent on how many racers we have, you may or may not be able to run in other classes on the same night as the rallycross trial night - I'd like to maintain a minimum of 3 rounds of qually plus finals for everyone at club. If we have too many heats it makes it difficult to achieve. Hope you all understamd and are happy with this.

Clioman_2000 05-09-2011 05:59 PM

so would there be a limit on motor size too?? the use of lipo's etc..... or is it just a free for all as long as the shell is a rallycross type?

peetbee 05-09-2011 08:21 PM

Let's keep it simple, it's only for fun after all!
Apart from rules above it's a free for all!

Clioman_2000 06-09-2011 11:22 AM

pete,

you can take me off the list for the time being fella.... i cant see me getting down there for a considerable time now as i just never seem to have the time anymore....

i'll do my best and will have to see what hapens but cant promise anyhing and cant commit to anything either..

ta!

but good luck with everything and i hav to admit the rallyx does look and sound awesome...

just one other suggeston though... maybe you could be on the lookout for some additional track surfaces for the rallycross series... something easy to lay down over the top of the carpet/flooring just for the rallycross event.... like some old felt from a shed roof or something like that.... just for the added fell of multiple surfaces....

just my 2p worth though...

peetbee 06-09-2011 12:06 PM

cheers for update, hopefully you'll be able to race with us sometime in the future.
I think everyone would agree that we have enough changes of surface on our standard tracks!

Matisse 06-09-2011 12:08 PM

No rules about it having to be a vintage rally car, so that'd be perfect!

BTW my shell has arrived!

:o cool ....

are you having it pro painted ? and what like ?

just noticed ... the poll now reads 12 for and 12 against !!!! that's pretty much a win for rallycross then !!

I'd also like to add that the Mini bodied Sharks are also eligable for this ....

peetbee 06-09-2011 04:12 PM

It's with DCM to be painted Computervision style, always liked Tony Pond plus the decals that are supplied are for that car!!

Hey it'll look good on the shelf whilst it's not being run

evilbert 06-09-2011 07:45 PM

13 people for.... now lets see how many actually race :p

peetbee 06-09-2011 09:28 PM

3 probably Bill! :(
Still we can always share track time with the trucks:o

mrspeedy 07-09-2011 10:33 AM

Mines built and ready to go...... so that 2 of us

Just need to make a battery strap, or might just use tape like usual :p

Mines arrived today just need to check it all over and give it a shakedown run friday maybe:thumbsup:
So we are up to 3 deffos and a load of maybes lol:p:woot:

JACKOR33 07-09-2011 12:01 PM

Performance

Lol just tried out the beast and was amazed at the LACK of performance:eh?:

So with full peaked 3000 nimhs, the mtroniks viper esc endpoints reset and matching 15x2 motor cleaned and brushes checked the get up and go is somewhat lacking last place here i come!!! pmsl:lol::lol:

Hmm maybe the 10.5 or 13.5 brushless setup needs to go in it otherwise i may not clear the jumps:p

peetbee 07-09-2011 01:01 PM

Excellent, I love the idea of these all struggling round on brushed motors! It's looking good there Dave
Mine will be running an old LRP speedo (I don't think reverse will turn off!) plus some elderly 19t brushed motors!
I still haven't built my car yet tho, I think Steve will have finished the shell before I get chance!:o

What shell did you go for in the End Si?

Dyna 07-09-2011 01:45 PM

I just remembered i have one or two brand new TA02 touring chassis in the loft, fully kitted out with period TRF parts... that would do as a chassis...

That mint, new 911 bodyshell i have is the old 'converted buggy' type and is very wide.... too wide for converted tourers...

So i need a new shell.

I do remember, years back, that someone did a MK3 Escort RS Turbo/XR3i shell that fitted 1/10 tourers... and as ive always owned Mk3 Escorts and still own three, i really ought to track one of these old shells down to use...

Can anyone remember who made them, and if anyones got one still kicking around ?

I had a parma sierra rs500 in castrol livery on my converted optima mid custom way back in the day:thumbsup: god i loved the huge whaletail on it aswell:wub

Dyna 07-09-2011 01:56 PM

Yes, my 911 is the original 80's Parma shell and i remember the RS500 shell too :wub

I still want to run a Mk3 escort shell though... :D

mrspeedy 07-09-2011 03:28 PM

I used to have a mk3 shell in black :woot: on a Sand Scorcher chassis ...

But I can't flippin' remember who made !!!

Clioman_2000 08-09-2011 08:37 AM

im still determined to get something sorted..... just trying to sort our a base car first then get something sorted shellwise....

waiting for a few people to get back to me with offers...

sounds awesome what everyone has got..... i reckon you should put some pics up to show us what you got... and maybe encourage a few more people....

peetbee 08-09-2011 09:47 AM

Shell's painted:woot:
Just got to collect it and sort the car out!

Matt, I think that you may struggle with that one - I do like the way that it is no surprise to people that you have cars in the attic that you've forgotten about! Just how many cars do you have?!

DCM 08-09-2011 09:59 AM

Me and the kids will be doing some RallyX at COBRA, Tamiya TA05's and a TB03 will be in use, team paint jobs, may well be Subaru route...

rc ninja setup 08-09-2011 10:24 AM

Just dug out my old yokomo mr_4 rally but the rear diff dead.

peetbee 08-09-2011 10:39 AM

John, I spotted someone on MSUK selling one of those posted for £25, could be worth it for spares?

LOL @ Matt - you need to take a look up there, you may find a suitable shell!
