I know i enjoyed my racing even with matt's fan club in the 2wd 'a' final

LOL i think it was more of them trying to get backmarkers to get out of our way when we were racing that closely tbh Dave...

It was my one annoyance last night ... Me & Dave were well ahead of everyone in the final and i was absolutely flying, so if you are being lapped, drivers and spectators telling you that your being lapped, please just move over when you can so we can all enjoy our races...

3 times i caught and passed Dave, and 3 times i was taken out by backmarkers thinking i was racing them, ending up with a broken car... i get out of the way when the fast boys like Craig, Rob & Owen are lapping me, its not hard to do :bored:

Apart from that, it was a great track, set up early, 4 rounds and a final, and i was back home by 12.30 - awesome

Thanks to Craig for lending me some shocktops, ive got the proper spares in my box now...

liam 09-07-2011 11:30 AM

I may have done better in the final myself if it wernt for someone constantly screaming "LAPPING" in my ear ...thats my excuse anyway!

Sorry Chris for not turning up !

Alisha had a school trip to London that started at 5.30am, so she was f****d by the time she got home.

I had a very large dolop of s**t that hit a very large fan at work, way to stressed to think about racing

Next week the 'Yellow Perrel' will be back to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and it's all out of gum !

Rob.

Shhhhhh, don't tell everybody

peetbee 10-07-2011 07:42 AM

It was great fun but I do need those springs back , sorry!
Whilst the standard of racing at club is pretty good there are a couple of points raised here that I think are worth mentioning (& I hope I don't upset anyone!)

being lapped: please be aware of other cars around you and let them past at the first safe opportunity. There is no value holding someone up, if they have caught you up then they are already ahead on the computer. Do not take them out!

Lapping: do not barge past, do not expect someone to pull over right next to a jump or other feature where it would not be safe for them to do so. If you have to tell someone you are lapping them, just shouting lapping doesn't make it obvious who you are lapping! Also don't shout before you have given them chance to get out the way or are too far back to pass.
Hope this makes sense and remember racing is meant to be fun and we don't want people to go home with broken cars

brian s 10-07-2011 10:00 AM

people shouting from the rostrum during racing should not be encouraged whatever the circumstance.

sunbeam 10-07-2011 11:29 AM

I have no problem letting people pass and try my best to let them do so as soon as I can. It serves no purpose to me in holding them up.

When I was racing at Swansea in the late 80's - early 90's, there was a strict rule that NOBODY was to shout 'LAPPING' (or anything else) from the rostrum during racing. If you were being lapped and 'seen' to be holding another car up, the race control would call the lapping !!

The big problem I personally have with lapping is that :-

1, I don't know most of you guys names,
2, I don't know your cars,
3, I have no idea where I am in the race,
4, I have no idea where YOU are in the race,

This is why it is best if race control calls the lapping.

Rob (yellow Cougar) Just so you know
Now get the **** out my way, coming through !!!!!!!!!!

Chris-DC5 10-07-2011 02:31 PM

Well i would like to try changing the starting method in the Qualifiers if possible. I was chatting to pete about it on friday.

At the other club i race at you start in the order you finished the week beffore for the first heat. then for the next heat you start in the order you finished in the previous heat and go when your number is called.

I find it makes things much more relaxed in the first lap. Plus because you know your car number you take note when the race computer tells you are being lapped.

But for the final you all start at once. like any other race.

I hope it doesnt sount like i am moaning, I LOVE FRIDAY NIGHTS RACING.

I would just like to give it a try and see if people prefer it.

Thanks

Chris.

brian s 10-07-2011 02:53 PM

caldicot friday nights have always been relaxed, a bit of fun and chiiled, now it seems to be that every week is turning into a race meeting.

peetbee 10-07-2011 04:10 PM

Well said brian, not going to make friday nights serious!

No shouting on the rostrum and remember to drive considerately
Love you all and chill:wub

Chris-DC5 10-07-2011 04:54 PM

I know it can all get a bit hectic sometimes but i dont understand the point in the timing equipment if you are not going to race eachother.

sunbeam 10-07-2011 06:58 PM

I think Caldicot works quite well, as long as it's not taken to seriously. I know it can get frustrating from time to time, but as somebody said, that's racing.

ill 2nd that:thumbsup:

brian s 10-07-2011 09:24 PM

the lap counting equipment tells you how you are improving your driving and car setup, and yes you need to race others to hone your driving skills and achieve the lap times of the fast guys,(like rob west, dave belsten and craig) can put in, but it`s annoying when people shout `lapping` every time they come up behind another car especially on parts of the track where there`s no room to give way.
thats my 10 pence worth anyway.

Chris-DC5 10-07-2011 09:28 PM

I totaly agree I love the way the club is run, it is the best fun i have had with RC.

Looking forward to next friday,

millzy 11-07-2011 08:17 AM

Not to put a downer on Friday night but there are a few points I would like to raise.

2wds….some love please
I know every one in 2wd is in the same boat but when the tracks are nothing more than tight 180 into tight 180 there is no flow to the laps…that’s the small little rant over –

Second thing is the jumps….
These jumps with long sweepers into half a straight run ups ate OTT in my book, with the jumps laid out in this way you have two choices- go slow and get smashed from behind or commit to the jump and pray you make the line.
I’m sorry bit Friday I refused to marshal the jump area. giving there was a gap between the wall and the jump it was a surprise no one got hurt while in the death gap fetching a crashed car.

Last thing, im really happy you guys have a disability ramp and rostrum, but can we make sure there are no blind bends for our “On wheels” racers 

Belsten 11-07-2011 08:38 AM

It needs to remain fun, not sure I have ever shouted lapping on a friday night and my opinion of people that do, is that they are taking it way too seriously, relax and share the love :wub

mrspeedy 11-07-2011 02:15 PM

I don't think I have ever shouted lapping if I've been lucky enough to be in that position ...

On friday I found the best way to clear a backmarker was to nail it over the huge triple jump and land on top of the offending car

Seemed to sort the problem out :D
