are there any news?...

Mrs oOple 26-01-2008 10:36 PM

We haven't forgotten about you! Unfortunately all the judges work/study full time so I don't like to pressure them too much.
The entries have now been narrowed down to the top ten, which hopefully will be reviewed by the judges over the weekend and we'll get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.

I know you all just want a quick straight answer, but this is an incredibly difficult job for the judges, there are so many fantastic entries and of course each one needs reading individually! :woot:

Thanks again to everyone who took time to enter the competition,

Vicky

:)

Right everyone! The judges have made their decision, and we are delighted to announce the winner of the Durga Competition is..... 'Zipper', aka Lee.

Congratulations to Lee from all of team oOple, and thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to enter this competition. It's been very difficult to narrow all the great entries down to one winner, however there is only one prize!

Thanks to everyone!

Jimmy and Vicky

ashleyb4 27-01-2008 09:07 PM

Mrs oOple 27-01-2008 09:10 PM

I've messaged Lee to inform him, I'll leave it up to him about sharing the entry!

After reading through the review & the threads on here, I want to tap the holes before I start building.

Where's the best place to purchase one, i used modelfixings before but they are all out of M3 taps. Can anyone point me in the right direction for an someone that stocks a M3 tap?

I have found this tap on ebay; M3 x 0.5 - is this the right one?

WOW it's a scandal! :woot:

I won't give lees entry 'away' but suffice to say the car isn't for him - it's for his son.

And as you'd imagine from the lack of reply in here - Lee has probably no idea he's won it for his kid yet.

ashleyb4 28-01-2008 12:33 AM

aaawwwwhhh thats ace lee desearves it, go his son it will hopefully bring him into the sport more and get him racing maybe the next world champion when where all grey and old.

Your right… I had no idea!! :woot: (I'd been hitting the slopes in Slovakia!)

I had always intended to buy this buggy for me lad to have a proper go at buggy racing after reading the review on oOple… but needed to save up enough cash, so to win one is just amazing!

My son knows I entered the competition but I’m not going to tell him I’ve won it yet…. I think I’m going to secretly build it and then surprise him with the finished article!

I’ll post up pics of the lucky lad with the finished car as soon as it’s finished!

Many thanks,

Lee.

It's spelled "you're", Lee.

Just messing. Make sure you post up pics :)

Mrs oOple 17-02-2008 08:14 PM

Thanks for posting the photo Lee - what a great smile! Loving the body shell, did you paint that yourself?
When is the first outing then? Looking forward to hearing how it goes,
Vicky

I wish! No, bodyshell courtesy of Jon Miller.

First outing, all going to plan, will be this coming Sunday at the Lawford Buggy Club indoor GP. Lots of hard walls and large jumps.... the perfect test! :woot:

jimmy 17-02-2008 08:35 PM

haha excellent! I raced with my Durga today - I didn't suit the track  but the car was again awesome and at least I got some really nice laps in, just too many mistakes

ben 17-02-2008 08:40 PM

Jimmy your car looked good from where i was marshalling.:thumbsup:

Zipper 16-05-2008 09:30 AM

So far so good for the oOple Durga... my lad has raced two full meetings without a breakage (something he had never previously managed) and he picked up "driver of the day" at the last one! :woot:

Northy 16-05-2008 09:32 AM

That's great news, I'm glad you and your son are enjoying it.

G

jimmy 16-05-2008 09:37 AM

Good news Zipper! :) Apart from that wishbone in the first race, I've never broken anything on the car despite racing it plenty of times at regionals, nationals etc.. Glad he's enjoying it! :)
