Who me? Yeah like I say it fits, but not very well, it touches the ESC and capacitor.

Looks like a better fit with the losi LiPo.

Ive got the GTB as well, i couldn't get it to fit nicely with the shell on :(

Oooh that would help. I think I'm going to mount the ESC above the LiPo, it ran quite hot today, I used to get away without a fan on my B4, but maybe being more enclosed on the 22 is too much. There's no way a fan will fit as it is, I'm going to add a plate or something where the rear battery strap is. The ESC will be lower and there's space for a fan then.

If you've got them, small electronics are the way to go!

Here's a couple of photos of mine, certainly not a lot of space but there's always a way around things :)

Electrics

Hi guys... I'm due to get my 22 next week and cant wait!

but few things i wanted to ask people in preparation for when I get mine...

Firstly, why are so many people wiring their car so that they squeeze their speedo and receiver together upfront behind the servo instead of mounting the speedo on the specially designed plate covering the motor (this is for the mid motor build - I'm from UK so this is what I'll be running). Having motor wires sprawled all over the car looks messy as apposed to the simple neat and tidy way of having short motor wires with the speedo at the back of the car! Is it for weight distribution or is there a problem with speedo clearance on the bodyshell if you run it at the back??? or is it simply because this is how all previous mid motor cars have been wired?

And also, I'm unsure of what electrics to get! I had to sell up a lot of my kit at the end of last year so I have the joy of replacing them for this years outdoor season with the 22. Last year I ran a 6.5 brushless motor with a Nosram Pearl Evolution, and Vampire 4400 40c Lipos and I found this to be very driveable and competitive. However I'm now looking at buying the Pearl Evolution Version 2 with the additional boost and feel settings as this is the latest technology... but do I stay with 6.5 turn motor and buy new Lipo's with a 35/40c rating or do I go down on the motor to a 7.5 turn and go for the newer 60c lipos that are available??? I've been told that 6.5 turn with 60c lipo's is likely to be too agressive and so will be a right handful to drive!

I would appreciate any advice that you have to offer.....

Many thanks, Jon!

Hi Jonathon... long time no see...

whats the wavey carbon fibre bar you have running over your lipo's... thats not standard is it???

What is it and what does it do???

Speak soon, Jon! 22

till 20-03-2011 05:28 PM

I´m getting jealous =( I´m here waiting for my car !! I want it now !!!

ashleyb4 20-03-2011 05:55 PM

Wacker! the main reason i believe people are running there speedo's up front is because your mtor gets hot and it will transfer its heat to the speedo! Well thats the reason mine is going up front.

Good work!

It certainly requires some creativity with the wiring. After lots of messing mine is presentable but my castle speedo means can't fit everything on the chassis. Gonna try routing motor wires back under the guard as you have as not sure my shell will fit as is.

Car built and electrics installed just waiting for a shell now.

I still think it was one of the easier installs to get neat.

Ross 20-03-2011 10:58 PM

I think the Losi LiPo is the best way to go, it looks to leave room at the side

LOL

It aint your 1400 mAh nicads that will be your problem - it'll be your resistor speed controller with its 2nd servo and your 4-cell Rx pack :woot::woot:

But I'm sure you'll find a way JB

Lots of room when you put the electronics where Losi intended :)

Easy to swop to running saddles or the new small lipo as I don't have a load of electronics shoe-horned into the front. Could also run a normal stick lipo (there's room with a low profile servo) if I popped the receiver on top of the lipo.

Just need Jonathan to bring out a nice carbon battery bar instead of the straps :)

Ran it like this indoors, with no cooling cut out's in the shell and it barely got warm, so can't see heat being a problem at all.
