One day your boat will come Ash when you have a track in you back garden to practice on. :D:D |
Ash you should look at buying a Losi JRX2 or possibly XX - You'd love them.... Retro racing is the future i'm told, certainly seems the XX4 fits that too as i remember it's debut in 1996 - Can't believe it's still running really!

Pidge??? |
Stan, you fed up with it already??????? :D:D
|
I dont understand why everyone hates the xx4 its still a very qcik car quicker than stuff liek the x11, lazer zx5, bj4, x5 and BX. I cant seem to understand why you guys hate it. So its a little old but it shows it is an amazing car. Show me another car that it 11 years old and can still win nationals.

No but if you dont want you losi sponsership ill have it lol

The origin of the thread might be slightly lost, but it was actually - "new electric 4WD 1/10th Electric Buggy" - the XX4 is not new and it's no longer produced - nor ever will be. |
You tell him J man, appreciation day for you!!!!!!!!:D

I'll have to pass i'm afraid mate, think i'd best stick to 2wd - I'm pushing it enough with that alone :D When you going to get your ass down to Lee's?? |
no one hates the car, it has like all cars some issues, the original thread starter asked for advice on which 4wd to go for, this is a difficult question as you asking for an opinion and everyone has one, from a shop point of view i dont care i sell most of them so which ever one he chooses suits me.
i do have some experience of all the cars except the tamiya, joe has driven most of them in the last 18mths, people take the piss a bit out of him turning up with new cars every couple of months but this is deliberate he is an average club driver, has made the odd A at regional level, so he is a good judge of how a car is to work on, support etc and it helps me to decide what spares to get for all the new cars. he is currently sticking with the yokomo. spares are reasonably easy to get although a bit pricey and works on all tracks to a certain degree, his predator is very good on certain tracks but appalling on others, dan on the other hand has only had 2 4wd cars a CAT 3000 and the xx4, next year he will be changing to the B44, reasons the xx4 does brake easily (wishbones, belts and shock towers) it is a git to work on, dan is very aggresive in his driving style and he will either finish first or not at all at the juniors in round one he tq'd the whole meeting including all the f2's then broke in rd2 and 3, he then had to finish rd4 which he did in the 4th best time overall in that round to give him pole but he was close to not finishing at all, at the nationals this year he finished a lot lower than the previous year for the same reason he would do a D final time in round 1 and then fail to back it up with anything due to the car breaking. on an individual run the xx4 is quick but fragile, so we needed a car that was stronger, joe had a bj4 and converted it to bj4we and i knew the car was strong, the b44 is classed as a cheap bj4, i prefer the opposite that the bj4 is an expensive b44, realistically at a street price of 210-250 with titanium , screw collar shocks etc nothing else comes close in terms of performance for money. |

never say never!! you never know!:D |
Without doubt the B44 is going to be the best value for money, and will have the best spare parts availibilty - once the car hits the shops in volume that is
Yokomo spares aren't too hard to get hold of because there also imported by CML, but from past experience I would say the spares are very expensive. The kyosho is well supported for spares and the prices are very reasonable. In the right hands its a very quick car, needs a few extra hop-up parts to make it realy duarble... Titanium turnbuckles, alu front brace and rear UJ's (UJ's are included if you buy the Special UK edition car). Although there are rumours abound of an updated car maybe in 2008. X5 seems to handle really well, but an expensive route - you need a doner car and buy a conversion kit on top. You would have to talk to an X5 owner to get detail on spares and availibilty. BJ4 - as previous poster has said, very simililar to B44 but a bigger price tag. I think the BJ4's will be a popular secondhand buy, but I can't see them selling many new cars when the B44 is out. Depends if you want to buy now or if you wait till closer to the outdoor season - All sorts of new cars might be coming out - Serpents, Aeros, Schumachers? For club level racing you might want to buy whatever everbody else is running so you have oppertunity to beg/buy/borrow/steal/swop spare parts and set-up advice. |
