Noooooooo, we can sort it Saturday morning. Will the banking clean up with the mower run over it VERY low?

G

super__dan 09-08-2007 11:24 AM

The mowers were fully submerged and had to have the water pumped out of the cylinders last time. Jim, Nick and John price got 2 of 3 running though I did have to have a pit stop last night for Jim to give mine a little bit of a tune up.

The cabin is in a right mess though, everything is covered in a fine layer of silt. We did test the PA and electricd though so it should be OK for the weekend.

We ran out of time last night, we were thinking/hoping if we ran a back straight on the Sat then if we could grab people at the end for 1/2 hour or whatever (when people are there so not travelling) as with a decent amount of bodies it would be a doddle to clean the straight off (loads of grass and moss growin on top surface). The banked corner is a little more tricky as some more clay has been washed away, making the concrete transistion from astro straight into clay worse. We do have some astro though which we could cover the bank with and make that section raceable.

G I for one would really like your help laying the track on sat. You provide the layout, I'll provide the menial labour? ;)

No worries Dan, what time do you want me there?

G

super__dan 09-08-2007 11:57 AM

What's reasonable for you? Best to get it done early so people can practice, I can be there whenever? 7.30 reasonable?

I'm now going to have to work Sunday morning from 5am to about 7.30 for some inspections. I may be tired and grumpy most of the day then! :(

By the way all the weather is looking better :)

Northy 09-08-2007 12:09 PM

I can be there for 7.30 if you want, but be warned, it could make Julie tired and grumpy all day - especially in her condition! :D :D

rcracer 09-08-2007 12:21 PM

Richard, i think there's about 4 sets of keys. I have a set and i'm only 5 minutes away so if anybody needs to get in, PM me or get my number off John Price.

super__dan 09-08-2007 03:03 PM

Chris, can we assume you can pop down on Friday to open up for whoever (Batley memebers or kind volunteers) is going to give the grass a final trim (and anything else they want to do!!!)?

Northy 09-08-2007 09:08 PM

Paul, just book in on the NE site (the bestest region in all of the world) site and then tell them at booking in that you are from a monkey region and don't want to score points.

Oscar 09-08-2007 09:34 PM

Just to reiterate what has been said before, please can anyone who is available Friday evening, meet at the track from 6pm onwards. :)

chrislee 09-08-2007 10:22 PM

I'll be there at 6PM with some keys.

chris

chrispattinson 10-08-2007 06:32 AM

Are we permitted to camp on the Friday night, and who will have the toilet block key?

Thanks.

super__dan 10-08-2007 06:44 AM

Camping is OK on the Friday night, I think Dianne is coming down to the track to get hold of the key for the toilets (running track ones) then will sort out where it's being kept.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can lend a hand tonight, I'm sure by tomorrow morning everything will be fine. If people decide to actually lay the track tonight, can someone tell either Graham or myself so G doesn't have to get there quite so early tomorrow!

We under ordered on the plywood for the top of the rostrum and so have a 8'*5' gap. Unforuantly the only size they do in that 18mm stuff we've used is 8'*4' so we've had to buy 2 boards and will need to cut one to a 1 foot wide, 8 foot long strip. If anyone has a powertool (young man) to help do this, PLEASE bring it a long as it will be a mare by hand!

super__dan 10-08-2007 06:46 AM

Oh and another thing, the mover that pulls itself along gives the better cut and picks up more grass so better to use that one if possible (I'm being quite fussy here for someone that can't even come tonight ;) )

Northy 10-08-2007 07:41 AM

Dan we'll lay the track in the morning if you want.

G

chrispattinson 10-08-2007 08:37 AM

Im sure me, Chris Bell and David Pack, and possibly my girlfriend (though it is her birthday today) will be lending a hand tonight, providing we can do it with drinks in hand.

On another note - if Sarah (my girlfriend) looks a little down, its because on her birthday, I've taken her camping to a model car meeting, and invited her to do the gardening on the track. I know how to spoil a lady. :)

Northy 10-08-2007 09:11 AM

I bet she's well pleased. I take Julie away most weekends to some really nice places around the country, but she doesn't seem to appreciate it :(

Anyway, if you guys (and gals) want to make sure the grass is nice and short, with no loose stuff hiding in the bottom, and the straight and banked corner is clean of weeds and sh*t, then I will try my best to lay out a legendary 2wd track first thing Saturday morning :D :D :D

G

super__dan 10-08-2007 10:02 AM

Eveyone's a winner then!!!!

Again in advance thanks everyone for elnding a hand!

Richard Lowe 10-08-2007 12:47 PM

It's just behind the sports centre, in-sight of the rostrum.

bigred5765 10-08-2007 04:42 PM

what time we need to be there??

big air 11-08-2007 07:28 PM

would it be ok to book in to batley tomorrow as the brca site wont let me do it.

super__dan 11-08-2007 08:27 PM

yes, no problem

andys 11-08-2007 09:23 PM

No batley racing for me :(

Good luck to everyone going to the batley regional tomorrow, and it's great to hear the track is being repaired. My aplogies for not getting involved, or racing this weekend. It's a long story, but my missus has given birth to our twins this week, in Cumbria.... hence, no racing for me at my home track.

Hopefully i'll be racing again some time this century... Until then i'll be 'lurking' on Oople every now and again to keep up with whats hot, and what's not. Have fun people.

Andy.

jimmy 11-08-2007 09:31 PM

Funny you should mention that - Dan is high on our list if "it's" a boy. Does he get pro race tuition from SuperDan if the name is chosen?;)

Congrats Andy. Hope all goes well

emzy 12-08-2007 07:37 PM

Awwh, congrats Andy! Hope the babies and Mum are well!

Have you decided on names?

Northy 12-08-2007 07:42 PM

Congrats Andy.....;)

G

andys 13-08-2007 09:26 PM

Cheers everyone.

The twins are both well (both boys), they will be in hospital for a good few days yet as they were quite early, and Jayne had to have a 'sunroof' birth, ouch.

Names are Charlie and Seth.
