Mark i have a few Qs about this Project.

Rebelrc 27-09-2010 03:59 PM

Thomas PM me ...cheers

MHeadling 08-10-2010 11:54 AM

Hi Guys, Sorry for the lack of updates on this for a while, I have spoken to the CAD man and he has it all measured now and should e-mail me over the drawings next week.

I will then send these CAD drawings out to some local engineering firms and see what its going to cost to do!

Speaking to Trish a while ago it seems the kick up on the front of the chassis will be a bit expensive to do as the machine needs to be re-set to do this angle.

I will see if I can post up the drawing once I have it.

Thomas P 08-10-2010 12:14 PM

Me Like :)

TryHard 08-10-2010 03:20 PM

Mark,

On the kick-up front, could you not adapt the design to take an X-6 front plate? So removing the alloy kick-up? Would work with the rest of the B4 front end.... ;)

Looks good though :)
Ed

Rebelrc 09-10-2010 08:33 PM

Mark, How fast does she go mister....Lol:woot:
Thats my car.....LUSH!;)

metalmickey0 09-10-2010 08:49 PM

I have one question. Why? , whats wrong with the original? as i now just got a B4. Well thats two questions really:blush: As all the cells and electrics are in the same place

Tom3012 09-10-2010 11:40 PM

From my point of view, when i do conversions its for fun, its also nice to be different and brilliant when your creation goes as well as the original if not better...

MHeadling 10-10-2010 08:10 AM

Well said Tom!! The main reason was to try it out and be different!

Scott (Rebel Rc) wanted to get the C of G as low as possible and with the chassis milled from Ali you can't get that much lower!

The car goes very well so far! We are not amazing drivers but it's quite different to drive compared to a normal B4 and on high grip is nice and safe to drive. It does need some set up work on low grip as Spud used it at a wet Stotfold and with it being so narrow it didn't roll alot and didn't create grip like the X6 and B4 were. He made some changes to the car and lengthened the links which helped but it's early days!!

One nice thing is it's at the Brca weight limit as STD, no adding lead or brass anywhere!

But like I said it's just to be different!!

till 10-10-2010 04:41 PM

and what is the brca weight for the STD class ??

SMR B4 Chassis Conversions

I would like to buy one of the "SMR B4 Chassis Conversions" and boddy. Please email me at [email protected] with the price and the time the chassis would be ready. Thanks a million for your time.

Rebelrc 06-12-2010 12:36 PM

Sorry B4 racer
we never continued to develop it into production so none to sell
many thanks for your interest though:)
sorry we cannot help:cry:

cooper_xl 17-01-2011 11:31 PM

Very nice..congrats

Busadaddy 17-01-2011 11:53 PM

I wanty lol

rcjunky 24-01-2011 01:35 PM

How are the batteries held in place? it looks like they cold slide around forward/backward. I'm planning on doing something similar on my losi, aluminum chassis, mid motored, saddle packs in the same layout but I'll be using the stock front end so I won't need to mess with the kick up, and making it have the wheelbase of the 22, so it will be sorta like the 22 MM layout but my biggest concern is battery placement, the last thing I want is the battery too far forward/backwards and need to re do it all as it will all be done manually at school.

Rebelrc 09-03-2011 07:40 AM

Many thanks Will Johnson (Rc-penguin) for running this car at maritime
It looked awesome all day (wish it went that well when I drive it) and got lots of attension and comentslike what is that lol(very orange)
Cheers for the great drive will
See you tonight for some model car sliding and wheelspin!
Love it:thumbsup:

Building up my SMR B4 (chassis has been gathering dust in my workshop), been through my parts box and getting it going again for a bit of fun/nostalgia.

Thanks to Spud and Griff for the bits for the build, going to try and make a coke bottle cab forward shell for it.

No news on the car really, my Cad guy is taking ages and the kick up on the chassis will cost alot to machine etc so it seems like this project will be shelved I'm afraid!

Thanks for all the interest in the car!

Im a cnc machinist (lathes) but also have milling knowlege too And the kick up is no more expensive to machine than anything else If Its done on a decent machine

MHeadling 09-08-2012 01:46 PM

Some more pics now it's finished, big thanks once again to Griff for his help on some of the spares I was missing during the rebuild and to Rebel RC for making it in the first place

Old school Trinity light weight slipper:

Ok fair enough Gixxer but its all about the mid motor now so just a bit of a fun getting the SMR car built again, I'll leave the mid motor conversions to Vega :)

Rebelrc 09-08-2012 06:02 PM

Looks great Mark
It looks just like mine lol
Except mine has proper wheels on it
Cheers for the cheers

GRIFF55 09-08-2012 08:02 PM

Need tyres!
No worries bro:thumbsup:

MHeadling 11-09-2014 07:29 PM

Well the last SMR B4 was stripped down and sold and the lovely orange chassis was screwed to the wall in my workshop, a few years passed and I fancied getting it built back up, a £35 B4 and we are underway! (Bling will be added!)

Looks good. Off topic but how do you find the 2x20 tires on astro?

MHeadling 14-09-2014 06:21 AM

Thanks Alex, I've not ran the front tyres on astro as of yet but will give them a go, I had them in my tyre box from racing on grass back in the day and they were really good
