Looks like the weather might be pretty bad this weekend! What happens in case of the track being flooded on the Sunday? Would this mean the meeting have to be re-scheduled?

M.

You'll bloody well race, grin and bear it... National-styleeee!!

(only kidding).

millzy 25-05-2007 03:24 PM

remember telford last year? it was worse than the kiddy nat and we all raced.

losixxx 25-05-2007 03:31 PM

it took me about 2 weeks to clean the xx4 after telford regional last year, in the end i took everything out and chucked it in dishwasher. was fun though

millzy 25-05-2007 03:34 PM

i took my car home in a black bag. took me ages to take it apart and remeber how it all went back togeather - no manual and chris long built it so i didnt have a clue what went where.

still i got pinks and greens and yellows left over

it may have been worse than kiddy but everyone still went home after round 2!!

_sleigh_ 26-05-2007 08:29 AM

I think Millzy was on about the National, but yeah the regional was pretty bad too.

tyreman 26-05-2007 02:11 PM

In light of the weather tomorrow would it be possible to run the regional on Monday, as the weather is alot better:confused:
Would this be possible, what would people think??

ashleyb4 26-05-2007 02:35 PM

Your not scared of a little rain brian!!!!

I think its a bit short notice and some people have plans with the families etc to go to the beach.

A

tyreman 26-05-2007 03:04 PM

A little rain, no, but when we are likley to get twice as much as the national, regardless of whether your equiptment is waterproof or not, I think we will be pushing our luck. I would be supprised if it's not cancelled before a round is even run.

MATTY 26-05-2007 03:54 PM

Monday good for me !

k£v!n 26-05-2007 03:59 PM

Its a good idea but I personally think its a little to late to tell everyone, and like Ashley said some people may have other commitments on the monday!

Kev

bigred5765 26-05-2007 03:59 PM

good for me too

markwilliamson2001 26-05-2007 05:21 PM

You have my vote, if not Monday how about the following weekend, since their are no Nationals or other regionals in the region on?

I think Dom has my vote on this as well!

MW

GeneralZod 26-05-2007 05:22 PM

Ah... The voice of reason...

Well done Brian for saying what everyone is thinking!

Monday's weather is forecast as sunshine and dryness:), yet tomorrow is forecast for grim end-of-the-world type weather :(

Alternatively, next Sunday is free except for Border Counties at Dudlaaaaay...

Kidderminster is a great track, but racing in the rain is miserable... It would be a shame to ruin 4WD at Kidderminster twice in one season :(

Doomanic 26-05-2007 05:29 PM

A postponement gets my vote!

If it's raining tomorrow, neither I nor C'lum will be racing...

Has anybody suggested this to the Club??

losixxx 26-05-2007 05:34 PM

bit unfare to the people who have arrangements for monday and next weekend. if it is cancelled tomorrow think it shouldnt be rearranged just have 2 from 4 to count

markwilliamson2001 26-05-2007 05:38 PM

Sounds like a good idea, otherwise I (and others) would not be eligible for end of season finals. Should Phil or someone from Kiddy make an official statement to clear things up. I do think that it is wasteful travelling to Kiddy only to find that the meeting has to be cancelled or just do two rounds in the p***ing rain and ruin good electrics...

If it is chucking it down in the morning when I get up, then I won't be coming.

Just my 2 cents...
MW

MATTY 26-05-2007 06:08 PM

We should all pit on the track and race throw the tents!!!:D now that would be fun !!!

tyreman 26-05-2007 06:17 PM

Spoke to PW and he said the meeting is on as far as he is concerned, any disicion will be made tomorrow.

GeneralZod 26-05-2007 06:28 PM

Well done Brian.

Thanks for the confirmation...

_sleigh_ 26-05-2007 06:57 PM

As has just been said, the meeting tomorrow will continue as planned. The weather forecast is hardly "end-of-the-world" conditions, it's estimated to be rainy during the day. I know the Kidderminster club will have surveyed the track and it's current conditions, so I back them in their decision.

We've all raced in rain before, it just seems that over the last few years the tendency has been to shy away from it. Now before anyone starts the "well you don't pay for your stuff", well yes I do and probably the same sort of prices you can all get if you shop around. If I were to blow a speedo in the rain, then I'd be buying a new one just the same as anyone else.

I know most of us had a miserable day at the National earlier in the month. But if it had been sunny at that meeting, would nearly as many of you be suggesting postponing/cancelling this regional.

The decision at the National wont force us to start setting a precedent for any other rain affected meetings. Until we actually get the day of a race meeting, it is unlikely anyone of us can predict the true weather conditions.

Before asking for a postponement, please consider all those racers that have commitments on the day(s) that you are suggesting to re-run the meeting. Most of us plan months in advance to ensure we have the time off work etc.... so trying to plan at such short notice is unlikely to please many.

4wd regional

Hi All,

I will be there tomorrow, never run in the rain before tho!

Are there any easy steps I can try and take to at least minimise the chances of destroying some ofmy equipment such as tranny/speedo etc?

Cheers,

Dave

dont run it:D

DaveG28 26-05-2007 07:34 PM

How bad is it though? As a naive young thing, everything except the rear drivetrain is inside the car with an udertray etc anyway, does that much water really get into them?

ashleyb4 26-05-2007 10:54 PM

Water prrofing is going to be an issue i have covered up all the holes under my chassis is duck tape. Ive got blue tack over my speedo and motor and reciever. I going to duck tape my body on and ill carfully mould some blue tack in the gaps. And if that doesnt wrk im going to put my speedo in a ballon i have a nice choice to between siver and purple.
